  1. I got into AXS venue presale after about 10 minutes in the queue.  Initially there was nothing left, but I refreshed a few times and got allocated 2 seats in row A of 409 (front row of the back section on the top level) for a total of £290.  I passed on the opportunity, but if they'd been the same seats in 402 or 421 I'd probably have taken them.

  2. You have to be careful with Madge.

When she did her Palladium residency in 2020, she cancelled the Tuesday shows, and only did full sets on the Wednesdays and Saturdays.  For her Thursday and Sunday shows, she came on an hour late and skipped a quarter of the set.

Thought the morning buses start at 7 according to festival website?

They probably do, but the problem was they weren't that regular, so you couldn't always get on one when you wanted to.

I’d be interested to find out If the buses were really busy, how did you manage on the Wednesday morning getting through the gates. ?

We didn't arrive until the Thursday so we never had a problem getting through the gates, especially with no big bags to carry.

The only time we had a problem getting on a bus was going from Glastonbury town in the morning.  So we booked a minicab to pick us up at a set time every morning instead.

There’s buses every hour from Glastonbury, Shepton and north wootton direct to the festival every day , last bus  back at 3am, for anyone staying locally or in a B and B Four quid each way.

We stayed in B&Bs in Glastonbury town for several years as my partner wouldn't camp.  It wasn't that expensive (like £80 a night for a twin with ensuite), you got a hot breakfast included every morning, and you could park nearby.  They get booked up quickly, but keep an eye out and they become available from time to time.

We had to forego late nights in SE Corner in order to get the last bus back from PGA, but all in all it worked pretty well.  And in the years when it was either very hot or very wet, having a proper roof over our heads was a godsend.

The journey in and out wasn't normally too bad, apart from the Sunday night which took ages due to all the traffic leaving the site.  Sometimes we got a taxi for about £15-£20 rather than wait for the £4 bus.

  6. I went on Saturday night.  Queue took about an hour, but it went by quickly.

It's small and intimate and there is a piano, but the entertainment was more fiddles and accordions when I was there.  I left around 4am while some guy was singing dressed as Humpty Dumpty.

Glad to have ticked it off my Glastonbury bucket list, but I wouldn't rush back.

  7. It was pretty much perfect (slightly too hot on the first day but who cares).

The thing is it could easily have been very different.  There was a LOT of heavy rain within 30 miles on the Friday, which if we'd been unlucky could easily have caused a mudbath like it did in 2011 (when heavy rain was forecast for South Wales and not us, but ended up hitting us just as badly).  With the relatively low temperatures over the weekend it may not have dried up.

This time all the heavy stuff just missed us - the force field and sacrifices to the welly gods worked brilliantly.

    FRIDAY

Rain around on Friday afternoon, with highs of 19. The rain is a little worse in this run for Friday, but it clears earlier.

Clears by the evening and dry overnight.

Very similar pressure situation with the low just to the west of the UK.

If it rains during Crowded House, they can flipping well take the weather with them

  9. Before the superfence went up in 2002, thefts of tents were a major problem.

Loads of people used to jump the fence, and while most did so relatively harmlessly (myself included), significant numbers of criminals from all over the country would also descend on Glastonbury with the sole intention of robbing the punters blind. They brought very little with them, as anything they needed (including tents) could be easily nicked on site.

Thankfully thefts of tents are very rare these days, but you should still keep valuables in the lockups as people do still get things nicked out of tents.

Tubes in London won't really start running until 8am on the Wednesday because of the tube strike on Tuesday 21st. I'm booked on the coach from the O2 at 9am Wednesday, and will struggle to get there by then (I'm in west London). Can't get there Tuesday and stay over because *everything's* on strike...

Does anyone know if coaches wait for remaining passengers at all? Maybe they would with all this delay going on?

And if not..... and I could find another way to the festival (a mate's car perhaps).... will I be able to get my admission ticket from the box office?

(Just a little panic setting in now...)

Worst case scenario is you could get a couple of buses to the O2.

If you can get yourself to Waterloo somehow, the 188 goes to the O2 from there.
