was 2016 even that bad? I have pretty much no memory of it being that wet just that it was a great year! And no I wasnt off my head for (all) of it!

Not bad at all. Just hard to get around due to the mud.

I didn't go 2007 but constant rain would be so much worse.

Is Strummerville a crush fest on Thursdays? I've given up on Williams Green outside of the main festival days.

Probably will be given Frank Turner is on beforehand. Do people think the crowd will leave post Frank?

Same. Will 100% start with Chems though.....

I rate the first half of the Chems set better. You will miss the robots in the 2nd half however.

Think I’ll have good intentions to leave to Hot Chip, then be having such a blast I won’t leave.

  5. Considering rocking up to IDLES 10 mins before they start (Park set). Is this not leaving enough time, or will the crowd be bouncy enough not to be too concerned about being close to front?

  6. Anyone know if they will being doing a normal set at strummerville or a stripped back set to keep in the normal strummerville vibes. Personally can't see anything other then a normal set for them as I dont know how stripped back accoustic style could work.

  7. Met Office make me laugh. "We have no fuken idea"

    Wednesday 12 Jun - Friday 21 Jun

Wednesday is likely to be windy and rather chilly for the time of year. Rain in the south may spread further north during the day, with showers following behind from the south. Thursday and Friday could well be rather unsettled too, with the wettest weather in the east of the UK. Temperatures will remain a little below average. Next weekend will probably be on the wet and windy side in the south and east, but with more chance of dry and bright weather in the north and west. Into the following week, further showers or longer spells of rain are likely at times. However, there will be more in the way of dry spells too. Temperatures will perhaps recover to average temperatures for June.

Yeah, the weather in Somerset is pretty wet today but the ground needs it, it's like rock. Definitely feels like it's been cooler than usual this Spring but rainfall levels must have been below average. I don't want it to get too hot and sunny yet, it always seems like a sustained period of heat in this country ends in humid and thundery conditions, just what we don't want in three weeks time. So let's hope for reasonably low temperatures and unsettled conditions for the next two weeks as forecast, just in time for a beautiful wave of high pressure from the Monday before gates open taking us all the way through the week of the festival. Beleavis.

And btw, weather in 2016 sucked. There's not one redeeming aspect of trawling through six inches of mud for five days. Not one.

well the fact it didn't rain besides a few minor showers was good. Mud sucks but at least I didn't get wet

Yep, considering what they are up against (if you're an Idles type of music fan) then it's going to be jammed.

I'm heading that way straight from Pond I think.

IDLES will be rammed at the park but there is likely to be some moshing so if you want a good spot sure it is not that hard to mosh through?

I don’t want to sound like too much of a fiend with this but, hypothetically speaking, if party substances were to be consumed on the Friday evening, would you go for Impala or Hopkins?

Don’t think you can lose either way. Tame Impala light show will be immense. Jopkins is the more electronic so a more natural fit.

Who do you like more? Go based on that.

i love both but think I’m ending up at Tame.

    Enjoy.

  11. Chems vs Hot Chip

2 of my favourite live acts. I am thinking of doing 45 mins - 1 hour of Chems with some mates, then legging it to the Park to do 45 mins - 1 hour of Hot hip with other mates (should be able to sneak through the crowd to find them if I am alone).

Is this a stupid idea or should I just grow up and make a choice between the two?

Ah thanks Ian the worm, that’s great info! I hadn’t appreciated the difference between the Rabbit Hole and Funkingham Palace (having never been in either), so it sounds like we’ll deffo be able to get in to see Let’s Eat Grandma. And great cocktails too! Super excited for this now! See you there!!

Yes thank you that is very helpful.

This probably also helps Fontaines DC fans as they play at 3am on the Sunday.

@ Phoenix Girl - given Fontaines DC are plating same venue I can't see it as anything other then a live set for Let's Eat Grandma

My friend won't be happy with Chems and Camelphat clashing. He has tried to see Camelphat 4 times and failed, so that'll be 5 in June!

IDLES vs. Let's Eat Grandma (but at least with the 2am set afterwards I should catch them...)

    Jeff Goldblum vs. Babymetal

    Chems vs. DJ Yoda

There's plenty more to be honest, but nothing overly horrendous. It will be when I factor in other people in my group though. I'm already pretty sure I'll be on my own Friday evening till the early hours!

Agreee on IDLES Vs Let’s Eat Grandma

How easy is it to get into the rabbit hole?

Let's Eat Grandma playing an hour long set at 2am in the Rabbit Hole on the Friday is a particular highlight for me

Yes how early do you think you need to be there?

  15. 5 hours ago, briddj said:

Not really, though there is usually a lot of untapped space if you go round to the back and to the left of the park stage (everyone just files in on the right side like sheep). Think it is all going to come down to on the day. I don't know which way I will go....

Agree. Let the mood decide on the day. Is very tempting to start at the Chems then sprint over. Have 2 mates definitely at Hot Chip so hopefully could sneak into where they are. Then again at just love the atmosphere at Chems so much I never leave.

At the very least Chems will finish before.

By the time Glasto comes around I'll have seen Hot Chip three times in 2.5 months.

Still can't decide between Hot Chip and Chems. Even considering first half of Chems and then up for most of Hot Chip but that seems silly.

Any chance of getting close for Hot Chip if you do that

Friend if mine got caught by a dog yesterday so stay wary, folks! Otherwise yesterday wasnt too bad. Stayed at main stage all day. Danny Brown was fine but seemed to be going through the motions compared to other times I've seen him. Too wasted to remember Hot Chip but remember Chems being decent after the rain. Sound and visuals were decent. Don't remember exiting being as bad as last year? All in all, not bad! Bit gutted to have been among two of my friends who actually paid to get in Haha

What happened to your friend post being caught by the dog?

  18. do we have a consensus at all about whether we need to leave John Hopkins early for a good Chems spot (there is a 15 min gap between JH finish and Chems start). You really don’t need to be that close for Chems but you don’t want to be at the back with the talkers. Decisions think I’m leaning towards missing last 15 of jopkins. Group of 10 prob makes that a necessity :(

I'm gonna have to decide on the day because I really want to see Jon but the rest of my group will all stay for Hot Chip. I'd get nervous and have to leave Jon early to make sure I got a pint and spot for The Chems as well.

I'll definitely start at HC, and hopefully it's so good I won't want to leave. I just can't see it being a WH2015 moment though ?

    Haha. Similar predicaments my friend.

  21. 2 hours ago, nikkic said:

It'll be one or the other.

I'm never one for doing parts of gigs. No way I'd leave HC after 30 minutes, will be popping off by that point!

understood. HC does finish before JH so you could still do full HC then get to JH though still a part gig but not one you are leaving half way through.

  22. For APE do people think seeing a full set of JH will preclude our group from getting a reasonable spot for Chems? Not too fussed about being at the front but don’t want to be so far back that the atmosphere sucks.

thinking may have to leave JH a bit early

  23. 15 hours ago, nikkic said:

    Proper decision to make now.

Think I’m edging towards JH as I’ve seen Hot Chip loads of times.

Can’t you do a bit of both? 30 mins of hot chip then get the full set of JH in? I doubt JH will be so crowded that you won’t get an ok spot ?

  24. 14 hours ago, Homer said:

You prob won’t get anywhere near it. Park stage is hard to see at the best of times

5 minute sprint? I'm greedy I want to see both.

Praying Chems get a long set so they start 45 min to 1 hour before Hot Chip.
