That's fair, Mumford's are shit now though lol. The angles where Reading can get round that is the price tag they now charge, Chili's wouldn't sell out at £100, no chance. I'll wait for a full Biffy show.

I'll still maintain, that was a small arena tour.

Mumford was fantastic live last month.

That wasn't the point though, if that had been said then I can see it but headliner level was never going to happen on previous albums and this latest sloped away, not saying even because I dislike them but the facts are there.

For a start, The Libertines were questioned, I was a bit surprised when they did Hyde Park, they didn't sell out days at Reading or Leeds and their arena tour didn't really fly out. Fair to them, 3 nights at Ally Pally on top of HP is a lot, they can pull it beings it's virtually homecoming gigs, but can you honestly say you could see the above being booked for their own outdoor show, let alone selling it enough?

I don't think most of the headliners this year would sell out a headline outdoor show. I think if they did Barclaycard hyde park it would be quite close to selling out fully. (Mumford didn't sell out this year)

Foals' arena tour did sell well though

This is an absolute ridiculous statement to make! Just because a band is 4 albums in over 11 years does not make them headliners. Do you know literally how many bands over that period have produced 4 or more albums that aren't even close?

Although, the progress from album to album and how well received they've been is what makes it the arguing point

Not my thing, but thanks, anyway the point was that Foals deserve to headline, they should have headlined Glasto as well instead of Muse. The recycling of the same bands every few years is what will stagnate and eventually cause the downfall of festivals, festivals have to be brave enough sometimes to give bands a first time crack at headlining.

I'm not sure on the should have headlined Glasto, but I know they are gonna smash Reading

Yeah yeah sorry, Thirds album! The Ride is actually quite good, it's grown on me!

I think their sound throughout every track on both albums is nearly identical, I sometimes can't tell what a song name is by listening to 90% of the track from the first and second album (I need to listen out for a certain word to then say 'OH THATS TYRANTS').

Although, I've seen them live twice and they are fantastic live, the atmosphere is on another level.

Yes that's the point. The fact they aren't there, considering they're pretty much doing every other festival apart from Reading and Leeds is odd. Especially as they have a new album out. Also, they were one of the best sets of the weekend last year so don't see why they wouldn't book them for this year. It is strange as they haven't announced them as they would've contributed significantly to ticket sales. Another point, who else would do the secret set?

I think they're not on the line up because they played 2013, 2014 and 2015.

There's no way that catfish will play an acoustic set at Reading and Leeds. It's either gonna be a full set or nothing.

I'm hoping for a full set, but just saw a gap on clashfinder - however its waaaay to early to be using this for clashes/spaces.

I'm really hoping it is a Friday between 12-2pm NME tent set.

Foals are my favourite band, but the performance from Catfish in the NME tent last year was probably my favourite set of the day.

Wouldn't be a very good secret set for Reading if they played Leeds two days before. The secret set usually only play Reading, atleast in recent years they have.

I agree, I'd prefer them on the Friday at Reading. Its just because of the day splits Leeds Fri = Reading Sun - but they don't have to follow those correct day splits like Foals did last year.

EDIT: Although acoustic on Reading Friday FR Stage? I could even see them filling out the NME tent at midday though.

Catfish are in Newcastle on the Saturday so it won't be then. I think it's unlikely unless they just do a smaller acoustic set on BBC introducing or something similar on the Friday or Sunday.

They could easily play Leeds on Fri and Reading on Sunday. Even a small full blown set in the middle of the day.

Quick question. My friend bought her ticket and is no longer coming to the festival. Can another friend but it off her and take her ID as proof (since the names are different) or is this not possible?

The chances of the ticket being checked is slim

  11. Went to the Mumford gig on the Friday.

Was pretty annoyed that I didn't know that for the inner circle you have to get there early and get wrists bands to get in! As I had to turn up at 4:30 due to being at work.

Wolf alice was great, but due to not being in the inner circle most the time all I could hear was talking.

Moved closed to the relay speaker for Alabama Shakes, who were amazing!

Stayed in the same position quite near the barrier at the relay speakers, met some nice people and Mumford were amazing. Marcus ran through this barrier part during Ditmas, so he was within 2ft of me!

the next act is bat for lashes isnt it?

As for SFA, there are really good live but perhaps a bit of an acquired taste. Listen to this and imagine it live with a belly full of booze at the end of the night..

I'll have a listen later, and I just realised the bat for lashes. I'll probably stick to the Saturday. Also noticed last year was Nov 13/14th.

are you going this year? I really like SFA. I've been to that dreamland before, it's like a step back in time!

I really enjoy Mystery Jets, Wild Beasts, Jagwar Ma and Wolf Alice.

Seeing both Mystery Jets and Wolf Alice this Friday, may be the deciding point.

Haven't listened to Super Furry animals before.

I was following Foals really closely when they played last year, and it did look great. May pickup a Saturday ticket once the next act is announced.

Lets hope we have a warm September this year

anyone going to this? anyone been before?

I quite like margate. The faded seaside glamour appeals to me. There's a terrible drug problem there though.

What was the crowd like last year?

I'm thinking about getting a nice airbnb overlooking the sea. There's still a slim chance the weather will be nice I guess.

Last year I didn't go, but I found it quite marketed towards the last band that was playing for each day. I may not be right, but that's the only reason I found out about it last year, and the same this year (because foals played last year and wolf alice are going to play this year)

    Hey Joe.

OK....so 2 years ago there was no 'official' cheap tickets. However, a 'leaked' offer for internal staff meant thousands of £2.50 tickets were bought. And these were honoured ( See : http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/british-summer-time-hyde-park-festival-confirms-leaked-2-50-tickets-are-valid-1454472 )

BUT....LAST year tickets were offered for was laughably called a 'charity donation', the minimum donation being £2.50. ( see : http://www.gigwise.com/news/101174/british-summer-time-hyde-park-tickets-sold-for-charity-donations )

SO.....no doubt there will be some sort of 'leak' or 'offer' which means you can pick up your tickets at a cheap price. Maybe given away free with a can of beans at Tesco's.

what theeeeeee.... just saw the 'charity donation' part.

Hope this doesn't happen as I've just bought Mumford tickets at full price..
