The difference is those people didn't have tickets and there still wasn't a guarantee of them obtaining said tickets, and if they did it would only be one a piece. Mr Benn on the other hand already had a ticket from the coach sale and then went and purchased another in the general sale, thus basically wasting a ticket that someone else could of had. That is pure greed as they obviously only wanted a general ticket hence looking at cancelling the coach ticket. If they were that desperate to go then just having a ticket from the coach sale should have been enough, regardless of preference.
And there was no guarantee that Mr Benn would have got a ticket in either of the sales. Its not pure greed, its one extra ticket.
You could argue that any tickets people bought other than their own using the hack method was denying someone else going the 'in the spirit of things' route of ticket purchase.
At the end of the day, both are ways of guaranteeing the ticket in a way that manipulated the system. If one is acceptable, then surely the other is? At least Mr Benn didnt use a backdoor route that circumvents the process that everyone else trying for tickets had to go.

I don't remember the exact year, may have been 2010 but anyway, SEE were only pointing the booking page at one of their servers instead of two, I think they cocked up the IP so all traffic was being sent to this one (poor) server & the whole site overloaded.
Some clever sod realised, and very simply anyone who updated their host file (something you ought not to mess with if you don't know what you're doing) you could tell your pc to talk to the other SEE server, which had no traffic & buy tickets. It was as though no one else was trying on ticket day!
SEE then fixed it so it didn't really help after that, because everyone was then directed to the two servers
People were doing it today, theres plenty of references to it in the tickets thread. Havent seen anyone having a dig at those people yet like they are with Mr Benn. So obviously a "not in the spirit of it" cheat is ok when its you and your friends and it helps people on efests, but not when its someone who isnt a mate who goes their own route to get a ticket.

I would keep quiet. I doubt they will even notice. Lets face it, using the option you did, is it any worse than the people using the host hack that was posted here? Get the confirmation for the one you want to keep, then cancel the other one. It goes into the resale and someone else goes. Sorted.
I doubt anyone that used the host hack will return their tickets if its deemed "not in the spirit"

Does anyone know the ground conditions on site at the moment? The weather for the rest of the week looks promising, and its been dry for a few days now so Im hoping for a welly-less weekend!
-
Spending my last weekend in the UK at the festival, then its off to America for a few years. Should be a great way to spend it!

I have this all the time as I travel with work. I have never had it stay on the account longer than 7 days if its pre-authorisation. If they have actually taken the payment for the booking, then it should go from the account within 48hrs.

Maybe its needed because to have certain discussions and openness, the people in the discussion need to feel safe first (and that is psychologically, physically and emotionally). Theres elements here that, to the people involved, will be far bigger and all consuming than something they will happily bring up in a room full of people which will undoubtedly contain tourists and people hiding from the rain.
If it doesnt affect you, but supports and puts at ease someone that it does, then does it matter that you cant attend? And if it does affect you, then youre already on the invite list.
The fact that the people involved feel its needed, means its needed. It isnt done just so people can get together and agree that men are all bad.

When it was clear in early May that I couldnt go (two tickets back in the pot for the resales!), I was hoping that the poster would not be a full on fuck yeah fest of amazing bands! Luckily for me, the additions dont hold a lot of names that would have caught my interest or attention. I know its not about the music etc etc, but a poster that leaves me indifferent makes it a shit load easier to handle not going!
So music wise I would say 2/10, and Im gonna focus on that rather than the fact that the festival would still have been 10/10 anyway!!!

I remember watching a program where they were speaking to the person in charge of the Met Office and they readily admitted that anything past 4 days is pure "educated" guesswork and they would never put money on it if challenged.
So I wouldnt worry too much what they are saying will be happening in 3 weeks time!

They are horrifically bad live.
genuine question, when was the last time you saw them live? I saw them quite a few years back and had the same opinion as you.
Saw them at Reading last year and completely changed my opinion - then I saw them late last year in Birmingham and again they were really good.
-
Haha, I have been downvoted twice for pointing out that some people were talking about them previously on here. Oh dear, what a fucking cockend some people are.
-
There was a whole thread a while back about them with people on both sides of the argument, including comments from quite a few of us that were watching them on their current tour.
-
Yes people do. Thats why their tour sold out, extra dates were added, then they sold out. And on the back of that, they are headlining a stage this year.
-
I would wonder whether Longleat would be happy to put aside the amount space for the amount of time required to put Glastonbury together. For every person that complains about the headliners, 10 more will tell them that its so much more than that - but so much of that relies on whats there and what they can put in place each year.
I cant sea Longleat allowing that - so it would likely be restricted to the musical aspect of Glastonbury, and the question would be whether that alone would be enough to separate it from all the other festivals that pay a LOT more to the acts.

There's a line though isn't there. Can't just book any old shit cos they haven't done it before.
See, Im really looking forward to BMTH. Whereas I have tried to listen to Tame Impala and every time Im just left wondering what the hell people see in them. And as much as I resent doing so, Im just going to have to accept that not everyone has the same taste. The bastards!

2-0
But that changes on an almost daily basis as work fannies about with you will be here, you will be elsewhere, actually you will be here, oh sod it you will be elsewhere...
Told them If they havent made their mind up by next Friday it stays as 2-0 and they can fly me back if Im elsewhere!

What am I looking for, and what do I do once I know?
I went to a running shop to have my gait checked. They then recommended shoes for running / walking, and I also took this information to a good walking shop for help with sole inserts for normal use.
Sounds like a pain to do, but it seriously makes a huge difference.

Last year I got a lot of back-ache at Glastonbury, especially noticible when standing still. Can anyone recommend what I can do to help?
Check your feet, the arches and how your feet lean in / out when standing. No amount of core work stops my back ache, only properly supporting shoes! I can plank for ages and feel all pleased with myself, but if I stand too long in the wrong shoes it feels like im wearing an ill fitting girdle.
(obviously thats a guess at how an ill fitting girdle feels, all my girdles fit wonderfully!)

Probably because it is.
Fr'instance, the three course set lunch at Heston Blumenthal's Dinner restaurant in Mayfair is only £40.
Yeah, but one is a one off event at a once yearly special occasion with a large menu, the other is every day of the year limited menu. You are paying for the experience as much as the meal (Im not saying I would do it, I just think that the event and the situation, and it being something you could only do there adds a bit more to the overall experience)
-
I think its funny that people think £45 for a 3 course meal at a special event is ridiculously middle class!

Would now be an appropriate time for a self confessed metal fan to point out that Slayer are shit?
No?
Ok, carry on.
Having seen Slayer on their most recent tour, and being bored stiff for 98% of it, I am complete agreement with you on this!

The rest of the world outside of this forum would LOVE an Adele headliner, on a recent trip to America she was almost spoken about in hushed tones of devotion by anyone. It doesnt really matter what we post on here, the reality is that the opinions posted on here do not reflect those of the public, and dont realistically reflect the majority of the people who will be on site come that fateful day.

But they used a method that meant they didnt have to go through the process of white pages and crashes like everyone else. Theres been an awful lot more tickets purchased that way - and each one of those denied someone who went the 'official' route.
I know its all semantics, but both are ways of ensuring people got there one way or another without sticking to the 'spirit' crap that people keep espousing.
Personally, if either meant people got what they want, so be it. I just dislike the hypocrisy of some posters.
