I saw some of Goat Girl’s set at Citadel last year and honestly didn’t find them too enticing. I love their album and they’re obviously talented but didn’t find them to have much in the way of a stage presence unfortunately. That was a year ago however and they might have developed in that time, I’m yet to watch their Glastonbury set but will give it a go.

Yea i love their album and listened to it pretty obsessively over a number of months after i bought it - their Glastonbury set seems to fit with what you're saying really, clearly talented, but lacking confidence/stage presence - I imagine i'll still be game for them though at End of the Road.

  2. Anyone who went to Glastonbury, see Goat Girl? One of the bands i'm most looking for to seeing at End of the Road, but watching their set on i-player has left me feeling a little flat. Perhaps to bigger stage or too early set time? Basically looking for re-assurance here ?

    Would recommend listening to

    Running -Ohtis

Big City - Kero Kero Bonito

    Mansions - Israel Nash

    Die - Stella Donnelly

Just because I love you - BC Camplight

Ice Cream and Sunsceen - Martha

I don't know any of these artists at all, so cheers for the suggestions ?

Any recommendations for me? (particularly interested if there are any energetic bands that will have a lively audience!).

On top of what Yoss has already suggested, you've got Parquet Courts, Wire and Goat Girl ( who I'm a big fan of).

I'm not their biggest fan but Sleaford Mods would also have a lively crowd I would imagine.

  5. Saw Chemical Brothers in 15 and was probably my favourite Glastonbury set that I've seen. Had so much fun. Incredible music, incredible visuals and even though I was a fair distance back, was great atmosphere. First time I've really felt gutted about not going this year line up wise!

See also 2015, 2011, 2007 etc and so on.

Here's a link to the 2015 set that I can't seem to embed.  Don't blame me, today's my birthday and I've been mixing my drinks.

Anyway, we know what we're going to get, and it'll be very similar to that which has gone before.  Which is fine by me, cos I love 'em.  They're one of 'my' bands.  First came about when I was in my teens, still making tunes that I like now I'm in my 40s.  That probably isn't as complimentary as I think it is.

So I'll be there again.  In a spot where the sound is good, freaking out over the transition between Swoon and Star Guitar and hoping for an oldie to be dropped unexpectedly.  Bless 'em.

    :D

That 2015 set was fucking ace. One of my favourite Glastonbury sets I've been too

I can't see The Prodigy playing or even really carrying on without him tbh. I hope there is some kind of tribute at the farm. God it's so sad. I feel really shaken by it

Feel like this has effected more than most celebrity deaths, and I'm not sure why, but it has.

Saw Prodigy once back in 2015 in London, almost sold our tickets as the Mrs was pregnant at the time. Glad we didn't, had an amazing time (baby was bouncing around in the womb too apparently!)

Excellent, going to download them tomorrow and get stuck in. Cheers, both.

I'd add What ever happened as highlight on Room on Fire. Great opening to the album.

  9. Some of the films i've seen recently (some old, some newer);

A Quiet Place - despite some plot holes, excellent & very tense sci fi/horror

Arrival - Highly recommend this sci-fi, Amy Adams in particular is brilliant.

eXistenZ - 90s Cronenberg film, was ok with some typically gooey and weird bits, but not his best

Nina Forever - Cool concept (dead girl friend stalks boyfriend at shall we say inconvenient moments as he attempts to move on with a new girl), dealing with grief, relationships among other things , first two thirds was great, but tailed off towards the end.

Halloween original - Had only seen this once before about 10 - 12 years ago, and is still a classic with scary/tense moments despite being rehashed hundreds of times since!

They were a bit, though nothing like as crazy different as some accounts I've heard. Vocals slightly changed but it just brought the songs to life more if anything, I thought.

I've spoke to people who've told me that they've seen her and the arrangements she was using made the songs virtually unrecognisable from the originals. Last night wasn't anything like that really.

According to my setlist.fm that was my 99th gig of the year and I'd put it straight in the top 3. Arguably number 1.

    Impressive mate ?

I'm gutted about this...all for evolution but the spider is my favourite bit, the blasts when they test on the wed and Thurs gets me so excited for the weekend!

Yea I normally camp in pennards so hearing those blasts have become synonymous with going to Glastonbury. Will miss them when I next go! Can understand them wanting to do something different though.
