I'm presuming they were already working on sourcing a replacement for Faith No More after they pulled out, so maybe just bring in that and bump up War On Drugs to the higher slot.

... also I don't think I've heard much of The War on Drugs. Open to giving it a go though. Any recommendations on whom to start with?

I'm not sure if these are pertinent recommendations but I can tell you how my taste for their music grew : I started with the live versions on YouTube (Bonnaroo, Best Kept Secret, Northside...) of Lost In The Dream album songs An Ocean In Between The Waves, which is their most energical song, with a powerful guitar solo and sax sound, Eyes To The Wind, Red Eyes, Burning, Under The Pressure... After that, A Deeper Understanding is a magnificent album (don't forget to listen to the live versions as well, like Corona Capital or Pukkelpop) , which makes a perfect transition with the last album. The new album is more dreamy, more quiet, and gorgeous, Living Proof is jewelry.

(the first songs by the band were with Kurt Vile, so not exactly the same sound that the Granduciel's area on vocals, though they still play songs like Baby Missiles or Buenos Aires Beach which is a treasure)

There's literally nothing to indicate it's gonna be Genesis other than a handful of baseless rumours (which have gone around every year for the last 10 years) but again, I admire the optimism and hope it's true, I'd catch them in the UK for sure

Good to know, I don't know much about them! (my GF is a fan, so I hope she won't be disappointed :p )

To be fair AM as a festival closer played their most non-festival album. We had dEUS & Beck in 2008 closing the festival (my first RW experience). Sometimes  probably - as Ken19 and Jazebel said - things go from perfect to real. Then again - in terms of "hard"  - Metallica played last in 2014  and no one critisized.

And SOAD gig in 2017 was splendid, people were much more involved than in Linkin Park who played afterwards. So maybe that's the reason :)

Are you kidding ? SOAD were splendid but Linkin Park's crowd was mental

Maybe Thom Yorke isn't the Barn headliner and they're waiting for another big name like Massive Attack

Been last 2 years and there’s absolutely no chance I’m going next year if this is the type of stuff they’re putting on their bill. Lisbon was great but pop isn’t for me

Same here. A great time for sure for the Portuguese ! But it's time for my friends and me to move to other festivals now. I regret parties in the camp til 7am which were canceled this year, and DJs in the pool. After the awful communication last year, they needed to strike huge names for the beginning of announcements. I think that Taylor and Billie are more Rock and Rio stuff. The Pearl Jam-The National-Jack White-QOTSA era seems to be already far away... I would have prefered well-established festival headliners (Billie has never headlined and Taylor doesn't play festivals usually), it will be awesome for sure, but this time I skip my turn. I'm planning Download Paris - Glastonbury - Benicassim - Sziget among major festivals next year.

    But I won't skip sangria songs !

  6. My first Beni, and absolutely loved it... Great human experience, I hope that neighbours will be back next year. We were among the only French here and made a lot of new friends, mostly 19-25 years old.

After several disappointments, I was shocked by how good we're Kings Of Leon this time. I felt that their passion was back, they played a bit like Smashing Pumpkins at NOS Alive the week before. Loved Gerry Cinnamon, La MODA, Franz Ferdinand, George Ezra... Vetusta Morla were insane at NOS Alive, but this time the first half of the show was more quiet probably because of the full album. Great second part though. Loved the second part of the 1975 too after Gerry.

One of the rare festivals where every show looks good thanks to the crowd.

I'll try to learn Spanish to be more ready for next year. The camp was great due to its people but I guess it could turn bad with rain. Maybe tent in the camp + air bnb is a better plan.. See you next year!

Just came back from the hospital after a renal colic and all I can say is I will miss having a cold beer going down my throat

Damn I hope it doesn't take too long to recover! Take care! (and beer isn't important, you can try the other drink...)
