McCormick slightly kinder this morning. However this made me chuckle.

Guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan still look the part of grizzled rockers who only function at night, but Axl Rose just looks weird, like an aging small-town hairdresser who has been working out too hard at the gym.

How dare rock stars get old. Off to bed without any tea Axl. You look WEIRD.

    Dickish journo comment imo

  2. They crushed it. Axel’s voice was decent, slash was slash. I was in pit and vibe there was great, everyone really into it. Singalong crowd moments were good fun

  3. All in all I had an amazing Glasto this year. In terms of what I'd do differently:

    - More Moth cocktails, we ran out on Saturday and we were a bit sad about it. Those espresso martinis were an amazing pick me up.

    - Take less spirits. I cut it right back this year to 1 litre of gin and 1 litre of vodka. Drank half the vodka and didn't touch the gin at all, which meant the tins of tonic I'd brought were a total waste of energy! Bought drinks at the bars mostly.

    - Don't take an unknown strength of acid on Thursday again - that was a massive error.

One thing I did that I was very pleased with myself about, was to pack a large thermos flask which I'd filled with ice at home Wednesday morning. Still had ice Thursday afternoon and we were also able to buy a bag on one of the days to restock the Thermos. During said unadvisable acid trip, I was overheating and that ice sorted me right out.

  4. God, covid debate really brings out the worst in people.

It is fine to be angry with the media for sensationalising and creating fear and doom mongering. It is fine to be angry with the government for their mishandling of the pandemic and blatant corruption over the past 2 years handing multi million contracts to their mates.

It is not fine to speak to people like shit and throw venomous or derogatory insults at them because they decided to take a covid test, or because they want to take precautions.

  5. Did WV for the first time this year. We were in block C near the carpark in an 8 man scout tent.

The bedrooms in the scout tent were pretty small - only just about room for a double airbed and we had to sleep with our heads in the doorway facing slightly downhill as the compartment wasn't big enough to rotate the bed 90 degrees. If we'd tried facing 180 degrees in the other direction we'd have had a face full of inner tent lining due to the very sharp angle.

Loved the peace and quiet. Hill didn't bother me and we actually did it twice a day as we like to go back for a little chill around 5/6pm.

Only had a bank of 10 compost toilets in our block, which were always clean, but queues could get a bit crazy. Had a very close shave one particular morning!

Could've really done with a few more food or coffee/tea vendors dotted around I thought. We tended to just get food in the festival, but there were a couple of mornings where we were suffering and could've really done with some hot food before heading out.

I only managed to get a shower on Thursday morning when I randomly woke up at 6am like a kid at Christmas. Friday I was up at 7:30 and the queues were too long for me to bother about. However I'm now reading about separate men and women's queues and women walking straight in and starting to think I might've dropped a clanger there and possibly could've walked in. I just saw a big line of people from a distance and thought fuck that. Lesson learned!

All in all I really enjoyed it, and I like the fact that once you've done the hill, you're straight into a busy bit of the festival, with quick access to Green Fields, stone circle etc. I think with Stincklinch I would find the walk through the campsites a bit of a drag.

  6. There was a kebab place somewhere between Pyramid and Other. Big black sign with white letters just saying KEBAB. Went there in desperation as it was the only place with no queue and it was absolutely banging. Went back there again the next day.

Worst food place by far is that white and red tower thing doing fish and chips near the ridge and furrow. Rock hard chips and rude staff.

Glasto must be the only large UK festival where you can walk from campsite to arena without a proper arena check nowadays as a result of not really doing the whole arena day ticket shebang the rest do. Whilst that's probably one of the things that means it's unique it also means you're gonna get things like people with rucksacks and flags that would normally be left at the camp site. Last time I went to Download a bottle of water and a jumper was pretty much all I could get into the arena.  It also means you're gonna get more people doing drugs at stages, most festivals the diehard druggies hang about on the camp site.

I'd imagine the local farmers and the police would never go for it but moving the campsites outside the super-fence could be a way to enable arena rules at the stages like most festivals as well as increase capacity.

The day they do this is the day I stop going.

  8. Had an amazing time this year. Didn’t encounter any dickheads, just one mildly irritating man in a bucket hat at Bicep whistling really loudly every few mins, properly ear piercing stuff, he sounded like a police siren.

Agree that it felt busier than usual, especially around the toilets. The guys I came with had to queue for the urinals and me for long drops a few times a night which I really don’t remember needing to do so often in previous years.

Also slightly frustrating was every food vendor having long queues at almost all times of day.

I did notice the younger demographic but I used to also be one of those young folk when I started coming in 2007 having only ever done the carnage that is Reading festival where setting fire to tents, throwing gas canisters into fires and acting like an angry mob in the campsites was the order of the day. Glastonbury taught me a new way back then and now I’m slightly horrified at my anarchic youth!

So we really shouldn’t be looking down on the young blood, and instead look to set an example for how to behave at festivals.

i dont get this ticket collection, this is our situation. ive emailed see but no reply.

The lead booker for the 4 tickets already has his ticket and we are in sticklelinch. Should we drive to Ped Gate A and pick up the tickets then drive back to sticklelinch?

Or should we park in sticklinch, leave our friends in the car park and walk to ped gate a from stickle , collect the tickets and walk back to them and give them their tickets?

its not clear really what the process is! do we need the IDs of the 4 ppl on the ticket? can the lead booker collect with his passport and booking ref if none of the ticket holders are with us?

Are you referring to festival tickets, or stincklinch tickets?

If you don't have your festival ticket yet, then I would drive to stincklinch and park, leave your stuff in the car and walk round to pef gate A to collect them, then wander back.

Stincklinch tickets are just a pdf that your lead booker can send you a copy of - so if that's what you're referring to, he just needs to forward you the email with the e-ticket.

Shorts, a pair of 3/4s. hoodie, pack mac rain coat. couple of buttoned shirts, couple of t shirts. Walking boots.

Yeah this is how it's done, I need to take a leaf out of your book.

Atm I have like 3 pairs of shorts, 4 or 5 dresses, several tops, the usual socks/undies, fleece, puffa jacket, sequin jacket, wig, toiletries, flip flops, trainers, walking shoes, wellies, rain jacket.....then all the miscellaneous stuff like collapsible bucket, stove, hot water bottle, booze, sleeping bag, camping chairs etc etc.

Packing is not my strong suit.

  11. Just finished first attempt at packing and bag is exploding. Trying to pack for heatwave, plus rain, plus mega wind plus cold night temps is bloody hard. Gonna need a second attempt tomorrow but cutting it fine.
