  1. Prince Daddy & the Hyenna playing a festival in the US on the Saturday so guess they're playing on the Thursday. Also side note would love to see Charmer, Arms Length, Carly Cosgrove and Saturdays at Your Place from that line up would be amazing though not holding my breath.

Also Militarie Gun are supporting Rival School on their EU & UK tour. There is an asterisks next them saying "club dates only" but I would love it if they were at Trees.

  2. 1. Touchè Amorè

    2. PUP

    3. Soul Glo

    4. BMTH

    5. Pendulum

    6. The Blackout

    7. Slipknot

    8. Pupil Slicer

    9. Neck Deep

    10. Metallica

Also got Graphic Nature, Enola Gay, Greg Puciato that I'm really stoked for as well

Hellripper, Gaerea, White Ward, In the woods, Worm, Anaal Nathrakh, Darkthrone, Blackbraid, An abstract Illusion...

What's modern about these two? They both started in the 20th century. Also Download has always never really had a track record of booking Black Metal bands. Why are you acting all surprised now? If you want these types of act go to something like Damnation fest.

I've been told to keep an eye for Simple Plan by my associates.

Nothing special there, rather they just love Simple Plan.

Didn't know you were mates with thewayiam

  5. Ok announcement for me. PUP the only standout band for me. Still plenty of stuff I would see if nothing else was on though: Pertubator, A.A. Williams, The Bronx, Mom Jeans., Carpenter Brut, Neck Deep, Bob Vylan, Greg Puciato and Hatebreed

  6. Would love some more hardcore, particularly some British bands playing this year. A few of Guilt Trip, Last Wishes, The Flex, Going Off, XL LIFE, Stiff Meds, Mourning and Cauldron would be nice.

Just seen a post on Facebook from R&L bigging up Billie Eilish and it’s only got 34 reactions and 6 comments (none of them being overtly positive). That’s your biggest headliner. Does nobody care?

Just answered your own question right there mate.

Hidden gem I've just found on the line up; Fleshwater - grungey shoegaze ft two members of Vein.fm

just been through and listened to the whole line up and there's a LOT of punk and indie bands this year, makes me think The Hives is actually possible, if they're trying to cater to a punky demographic, it feels like there's even more bands of that ilk than last year with IDLES headlining.

+1 on Fleshwater. Their album last year was one of my favourites of the year. Would recommend for people who like Deftones and Loathe.

Also Trees has always booked Punk and some Indie bands. Slaves and Nothing But Thieves headlined in 2017. I'd say that Trees is more a Punk and Alt Rock festival. I don't think there is anymore than usual or they're trying to catter to a wildly different demographic. The current line up still feels very 2000trees to me. There is always plenty of Garage Punk and a handful of Post Punk bands every year but they always the ones that seem a bit more raw to me. Someone about The Hives just seem a bit off to me, it's like how a band like Fontaines D.C. wouldn't play despite Post Punk being booked frequently.

Any suggestions of who is on tour at the moment that could be candidates to headline this?

Surprised some of the aforementioned acts like Pup and City and Colour that are around in Europe at the right time aren't playing this (or at least, haven't been announced yet...)

Frank Turner is the big one but if Trees were struggling for headliners, they could have easily bumped up Skindred.

Also PUP played last year so highly doubt they will be back. I reckon they will be at Download and I think City and Colour have played around Trees a few times but never been booked. Happens every year, a few bands suitable for Trees tour Europe around the same time but skip Trees. It even happens to bands like La Dispute and Converge who played ATG in the past missed Trees despite being around and suiting the festival.

Shikari are headlining Slam Dunk, can't see them doing both.

Ehhh I wouldn't be so sure. Twin Atlantic played Slam Dunk in 2018 and headlined Trees the same year. We had to wait until May for them to be announced though 1, people think that they replaced Brand New and 2, playing low down on the main is far different to headlining a different festival.

I'm very confused why we are still missing two headliners. This line up is good but it doesn't have many big ticket shifters. Trees has a solid base of regular attendees but can't see many people being pulled in by this line up, especially this latest announcement has nothing that going to pull in numbers. Are they struggling to book headliners?

Me and other Trees goers are really pleased with this and that's mainly due to the undercard. I reckon they'll have no trouble selling this line up. Headliners are probably being held back due to tours.

  11. Tbf, I'm surprised we didn't get any sort of announcement this month to coincidence with January payday. There is usually an announcement around now. I expect the next one the end of February as well.

Based on the photo of the helicopter they tweeted and based on nothing, Trees and ATG are very good at hiding clues

Good Charlotte- Lifestyles of the rich and the famous video.

Empire State Bastard- Vennart and biffys side project, the empire state building in the background

It's a helicopter in new york.

New York helicopter sounds very similar to Newport helicopter.

    I'm convinced it's Skindred.

Neither The Hives and Bloc Party aren't trees bands, Skindred most likely but there clues normally aren't that obvious

I would say all 3 aren't Trees bands. As far as I am aware, there hasn't been a metal band headline trees. It's always typical been someone that fits a general description of alt rock, punk or emo. Most metal bands that play trees are typically either ATG bands, or metalcore bands with an emphasis on the core.

That being said, wouldn't be surprised with Skindred, but I'll be hoping for something like The Wonder Years will be on at the same.

Also good point about clues, I'm still trying to wrap my head around "Rose is a Liar" hinting towards Converge for ATG.
