  1. Added most of the new ones to my playlist. We're in for a really bland weekend. They mostly sound the same. Ho hum.
  2. Alison Goldfrapp, Frank Turner and Seasick Steve are an improvement. They're improving a festival I'm already going to, I admit the lineup wouldn't be making me wish I was going if I didn't have tickets. Though there are lots of names I don't know so there may be some gems hiding in there.
  3. Being a bit old and out of touch I always make a playlist of all the bands on the lineup, and quickly delete quite a few of them (Caity Baser lasted about 20 seconds). However this year I've discovered University (terrible name for googling) who are a superb punk/rock outfit and who will probably be in the Alcove on Sunday lunchtime or something. I will be there.
  4. Well at least we have Future Islands to escape from Kasabian. I've heard David Dukhovny is attempting to become a musician. Maybe he'll be abducted by aliens. This release has improved things - and a festival lineup is always better in reality than on paper - but Latitude is the Waitrose and Prosecco festival. I slightly regret getting tickets but less than I did before this release.
  5. That lineup has gone down like a cup of cold sick. Kasabian, Oasis for the hard of thinking. Keane, Rick Astley, Chic and Duran Duran for the middle of the road. They’ll all be OK (well, not Kasabian) but I’m not going for “OK”. Here’s hoping for a better second announcement.
  6. I’m hoping for Idles, who are touring next summer and have a break around the time of Latitude. Though Latitude is getting a bit tame so I expect disappointment.
  7. I think Depeche Mode are too big for Latitude - they're a Glastonbury headliner for sure, especially as they're touring a new album next year. The Cure appeared on that survey. They would be an awesome choice for the oldie headliner. Just got our tickets for next year where I'll be celebrating a significant birthday, though not actually at the festival now they seem to have moved it back a week.
  8. We all had a great weekend. Third Latitude but first for four years - big difference between going with 15 year olds than 11 year olds (twins). Kids loved Sheds, Foals, Manics and Snow Patrol for the shows (we didn’t just stay at the Obelisk). They dragged me to Matt Maltese, who is much better live than on record. And were a bit freaked out by JB Pain, a Frenchman who told us his life story while making bread and taking all his clothes off. Likely to go next year but can we have something decent to drink other than bloody Carlsberg or Somersby? Either that or I’ll have to be on snakebite all weekend.
