  1. Afternoon all,

Not been here in a while as not been successful in the last couple of years and didn't try in the resale last time around. Booted off the payment page twice in the main sale so hoping the new system may work out for us next weekend.

Looking to join a stragglers group as it looks like I am a bit late for the main spreadsheets. We are a group of 4 so it would be good to hear from any other groups/individuals who would like to team up and help each other out.

On a positive note, I have been successful in the resale twice before so there is hope for everyone!!

  2. Just checked the weather sites and most showing rain late Thursday night through to about lunchtime on Friday when the wind picks up. The radar on the BBC site shows some heavy rain passing straight over the site late morning/early afternoon on Friday and then a few showers kicking about close by but not hitting Winchester. So Most of the rain in one go and then some nice wind to dry the place right up again. Walking shoes will be ok right? No wellies?

This happened to the tickets for Shambala festival this year too. Lots of people emailed ticketseller and they reissued the tickets barcodes so that they printed correctly. I suggest you email the ticketseller and let them know it is happening . I had my tickets resent and they downloaded correctly.

Thanks for this. Reassuring to know i’ve Not totally missed something. I have sent them an email, only an automated response so far though but fingers crossed they reissue the barcodes.

  4. Apologies for dropping in a random ticket question in to what might be the wrong thread buuuuut couldn't see were else to post it.

I downloaded my tickets at the weekend and both mine and my mates ticket show my name on them. I am the lead booker but his name does not show anywhere. When I log in to my ticketsellers account it shows his name and contact details under the ticket details. This seems wrong to me as security will not be able to verify his ID at the gate?

Is this normal and will his information come up when they scan the code on the ticket does anyone know?

    Any help appreciated.

  5. Had a ride through the site today. Lots going on but stages seem to be at early phase of construction so really just bare scaffolding. You guys will probably recognise things if you’ve been before. As this year will be my first i’m Not totally sure what i’ve taken pictures of. All I can say is that’s it’s dusty as hell and very dry as you’d expect.

Ok cool, cheers. Getting very exited for my first Boomtown now. I'll be even more so once Glastonbury is over and I can stop feeling depressed about not having a ticket for that!

I am totally feeling this pain as well. It’s Glastonbury everywhere I look at the moment so it’ll be good to get through the weekend and start really ramping up the Boomtown excitement. I live nearish to the site so may have a stroll through over the next couple of weeks before it gets locked down and have a little nosey.

I did this last year so a lot of the names will be two years out of date by this festival but hopefully it'll give you a general idea of the lay of the land, especially when people are talking about the hill.

Great maps, thanks @Radi0Head & @Tommy101. Looks like reserved camping is slap bang in the middle which is perfect. Hopefully try and come in on the South side but I guess it depends on where they direct you the time you get there.

You will love Boomtown.  I went last year as a Glastonbury replacement. I am doing both this year and I am equally looking forward to both - so that should tell you, that you have picked well as a replacement. I'm sure you'll love it.

I am pretty sure the reserved camping is at the top of the hill not too far from Lion's Den (which is the main stage). I didn't camp near there last year, but I am pretty sure that is right.

Boomtown doesn't seem to get as muddy as Glastonbury, so you can do it with trainers. It lamped it'self down a few times last year and it was ok with trainers all through. It never felt that busy either. My biggest Glastonbury complaint is it often feels overcrowded, getting somewhere can be a chore and you have to get to a stage half an hour before just to get near a stage. It can mean that if you are trekking across the site,  you sometimes have to set off a good 90 minutes early in order to see a specific act. Boomtown has none of that. Apart from the micro venues nothing felt overcrowded. We got to Limp Bizkit about 20 minutes early last year and there were about 50 people there. Everyone turns up just before the act starts. Even Limp Bizkit just felt very busy, rather than crammed in.

    See you there!

Great info, thanks @FuzzyDunlop I am loving all of the good reviews of the place. They will start the build in a few weeks time so will get up there before they shut the site down and have a walk about.

  9. Evening all,

So I just sorted out Boomtown tickets, been meaning to give it a try for a while but never got round to it. Missed out on Glastonbury tickets so thought this was the perfect time.

Me and a mate have gone for the reserved camping so you get a designated pitch but you have to bring your own tent. Seemed like a good idea as we might not be able to get there that early on the Thursday. Apologies if this is the wrong thread but does anyone know where in terms of everything the reserved camping section is? Not sure if its up the hill or down the hill or whatever. I have seen the layout video but this doesn't mean that much as I dont know the festival landmarks. I'm not a total stranger to the lay of the land though as I live only a few miles away and you can walk through there most of the year, even when they are setting up and I went to Homelands there years ago (the one that followed on from Creamfields) so have a rough idea of things. Any info would be much appreciated... Getting a little excited already :)

The FAQs I'm looking at say 4 for general admission 2 for coach

Nice one Levitz. The panick set in and I just bumbled straight on here. ? Hoped that was the case

  11. The website is showing that a max of 2 tickets per transaction can be bought in the resale. Not sure if this is for Sunday or related to tonight’s sale? Sure the FAQ section said 4 and it’s always been 4 (last few years anyway). We need 3 so this would screw us right up. Am i getting this wrong?

Apologies if this has been posted already. Been keeping my distance this year due to main sale failure ?

  12. Got my email asking for the photos to be updated today. After trying to get my daughters to take a good photo of me and them pissing about taking terrible ones for 10 mins I just took a selfie instead. Uploaded the new pic about 10 minutes ago so will see how long it tales to come back.

Absolutely crapping myself it wont go through in time. Original photo was from 2010 in my "large portions" phase. Reckon I've lost weight since.... every cloud and that :)

I'm sure that I've left these fields through a back exit onto a lane before. We all seem to be queuing for the main road today.

Left West 47 through some back lanes at about 02.00 this morning. It takes you well out the way but at least it keeps you moving. Main road looked at nightmare even in the wee hours.

I saw a bloke in this kind of thing in the park last year. Cant imagine these being too much fun in the sweltering heat. Surely going to cut you a new one :(

Have that exact one. Just be careful with how high you stack it as you are pulling it over a lot of uneven ground. Mine decided to capsize in 2015 when approaching gate A and it was only stacked about 6 inches above the rail.

Great advice, cheers. Got some bungee cords but won't be tempting fate.

  16. Bought a trolley this year to ease the burden. This was pre "pack light" advice but am going to use it anyway as I think going in and out over the first 24 hours might be troublesome. Reckon I'll get booze, a couple of chairs and tent on this so will then just have my rucksack on my back.

    gone for one of these

Well, how odd - I also had a calamity with one of the poles in 2013 when I was trying to force the bloody tent back in to a shape that would fit it's bag. Fortunately I stopped forcing it when I heard the fibres of the tent pole starting to snap away from each other. I think that I saved it, just in the nick of time.

The tent that you are going for this year is a beauty. So jealous of the porch area. I'd be tempted to buy another tent with a porch, but Glastonbury is the only place that I really use a tent nowadays as we now have a campervan, and because I believe in driving and existing tent in to the ground before replacing it.

Have fun at the festival, in your sw*nky tent. :)

You did well not letting the frustration get the better of you. My mate is just a big lummox who, despite a few suggestions that it wasn't meant to bend that way, carried on regardless. Still got it though, thought the kids might use it one day.... they haven't. Don't think they make a four man version anymore.

I didn't go in 2014 and then did worthy view the last 2 years so only just getting around to replacing it.

hope you a great (and sunny) time :)

    I'm pretty sure that my tent is a pre-historic 4 man version of this tent below;

35 - Hiking Camping - 2 Seconds Easy III Pop Up Tent - 3 Man, Green QUECHUA - Tents

I know it doesn't have a fancy pull cord system to drop it down, and that I have to go through the embarrassing performance of wrestling with the thing to get it back in to it's cylindrical bag. That said, I have managed to get it back in it's bag for the last 3 times that I have used it. However, the very last time I used it was at least a year ago, and I can no longer recall how to re-pack it.

In addition to the above, the last time I used it the zip got stuck. I searched around for something pointy to stick in to the hole in the zip end bit and, rather, dementedly, decided on using the pointy end of an extremely sharp knife (I wasn't at a festival). This act of lunacy ended up with the zip slipping slightly , the knife point breaking free of it's little hole in the zip end, and me slashing through my own tent with the knife, in a not insignificant manner. I have repaired the slash since, but now (as in right now) have a vague recollection that there is a plethora of fag burn holes in the ground sheet.I've come to a conclusion - I'm going to do what some people on here do, and check my tent before going to the festival. Way out man.

I've got the 4 man version of this. They're a real fucker to put away, always forget the technique. My mate snapped one of the poles trying to put the bloody thing back in its little round house at the end of 2013. It does kind of still work though but not sure how well it would stand up to anything other than a light breeze. Going for one of these this year.

Tall enough to stand up in the porch area to use the old travel John in the wee small hours to save stumbling to the nearest convenience. Winner :)
