Foo Fighters, Gaga (sub MGMT in a tent 2009), Killers, White lies, Taylor Swift, Kanye (mid afternoon in 2007), KOL, Biffy, Elbow, Prodigy, Eminem,  Fun lovin Criminals, Skunk Annaise, Jarvis, Alanis Morresette, Lenny Kravitz, Amy Winehouse (car crash unfortunately), Chems, Echo & the Bunnymen, Faithless, Paul Weller, Florence, Goldfrapp, La Roux, Rihanna the list goes on and all people I have seen in the years I went there!!

People slated it but it pulled some big names and had great heritage/legend bands too :)

Same here with most of them names! Mad to think it was actually at V Festival.

Have some real happy memories of V Festival (Stafford), I know it gets slated on here but all the year's I went 2007-2012 I had a great time and met some wonderful people including my other half

It did go downhill though but I really enjoyed the times I went :)

Yeah I went to Chelmsford for a few years, I also have good memories. If it ever came back, even with a shit line-up, I’d go back. I’ve seen some top artists there.

    :P

Am surprised Jess Glynne wasn’t asked to play (!).  She was always there when I was there. Hmph.

Any discussions going on for community festival 2021? Potential headliners could be

Wombats? Royal Blood? DMA’s? Foals? Bastille? Liam Gallagher? NGHFB? Ian Brown? Two Door Cinema Club? Courteeners?

Some more realistic than others but who do we think we’ll see next year and when will we see the lineup?

Did we even establish if it was going ahead this year pre-c*ntvid-19?
i hope it’s back next year.

  5. Pretty sure it’s going to be in Coventry, quoted from the annual BBC report 17/18. Do not ask how I came on to reading it.

    Quote

The BBC created new events like Contains Strong Language,
a spoken word festival and Radio 1’s Big Weekend came to Hull. Conversations with Coventry City of Culture 2021 have started, building on the learnings from Hull.

With Biffy clyro, Sam Smith, rita ora young t and busly and Annie Marie playing from their homes.

Still 22nd to 24th may this year.

    More acts to be announced.

I don't think it's impossible. I'm thinking that this time next year they'll have a fair chunk of unspent budget, from all the stuff they won't be having to spend on this summer.

And I think spending on joyous stuff like live music will be appreciated to lift the mood of the nation, as well as help kickstart a repressed economy.

Let's hope things have improved enough in year's time so that things are back to normal.

I guess, I just can’t see it happening imo.

Wasn't the biggest weekend partly hosted in Coventry? Can't see it coming back too soon, surely must be something in Scotland or the west country?

That was Radio 2 though. Like people have said it's always been in the City of Culture.. so fingers crossed.

  9. Won’t be the same line-up. They’ll be other things planned years ago that they’ll do. It’ll just be the same artist they rebook every year. Looking at you Rita Ora,
i hope it’s in Coventry. Doubt it’ll be split site. Don’t think this year cancellation warrants for it to go mega.
