  1. The people near us kept singing two lines from an R Kelly song. Just two lines, over and over and over...

    In case you're interested:

My minds telling me no, but my body, my body's telling me yeeeEEEeeeEeeeesss

    Sounds OK to me.

I don't see nothing wrong with a little Bump N Grind.

  2. Never had any really annoying neighbours. Actually, met some great people that have been called nearby.

A couple come to mind, though. Latitude a couple of years ago, a gang got back to their tents and sang a verse of a sea shanty. Just the one verse. Time and time again. Probably for 90mins. Gah.

Glastonbury last year, we had a party crew near us. Absolutely great bunch, but one woman has a laugh which the Wicked Witch of the West would have been proud of. Nails down a blackboard. And she laughed a lot.

  3. I would love it to be James - a very nice way to start a festival.

Any chance it could be The Cribs? They did the job in 2007 (I think, it was a heavy cider year) and were great.

  4. If you want wants best for yourself... Go Blue

If you want something that's better for many... Go Red(or Green).

The people I know that vote Tory are generally in good health, secure jobs and are keen to get a bit more money in their pocket.

My family are mining stock - and memories are long, and I have a couple of friends who don't have it easy... And the attitude towards them has become one of blame and shame over the past 5 years.

The argument that the Tories would have not seen the financial crash come along is both false and weak. Those that vote based on that view should try to remember what the Tory opposition said at the time...

Not everything the Coalition has done is bad. BUT if you were well off in 2010, you're probably even better off now. If you were struggling in 2010, you'll have done well to break that.

You can probably tell where my vote has gone, despite living in an area where people have a lot of land, inherent wealth and is, surprisingly, as Blue as it gets.

The LeftField tent at Glasto is great, and I recommend trying to get a debate in as part of the festival, just to pause and have a good think.

I think if we have a minority Tory govt, or a ConLib coalition - those debates could be quite intense.

If we get a labour govt, I really hope that they are seen to attack zero hour contracts, build some houses and really hold the bankers to account for the damage they did, because the Tories have done jack all.

    I hope they do....

  5. He was indeed great last night. Bar a couple of loud talkers right behind us, but they shut up after about 20 mins.

The encore in particular was really something.

Sunset slot at the Park, please!

  6. I am old...

But FKA Twigs are in my top 5 must sees.

Probably clashing with the other 4.

I've only listed to the album, and intrigued to see how it transfers to live. If done right I imagine it could be pretty captivating.

  7. The idea that more, smaller artists get a greater share of the income generated from the streaming of their music is great.

    BUT the execution is poor.

They could have been more explicit in making the smaller acts receive a greater %ge of the generated income. This would have made it more appealing, I think.

Secondly - they could have stolen a march on the other services. By charging, say £7.99 for the subscription (rather than matching Spotify etc), they could have gained market share much faster. The greater share going to the artists would have meant that the smaller acts would still be better placed, than the 0.003p they receive from Spotify.

FWIU, Tidal should benefit smaller acts over Spotify. BUT it's also designed to make the big acts even richer, even faster. And that might not be the best thing for the industry.

  8. Last great writer was Swells. And that was a long time ago.

Loved Swells. No idea what he was on about.

I last bought NME in 2004, when they were championing The Others as the next big thing... And slowly ripping The Twang apart, after being their biggest fan boys for 6 months.

I wish there was a better outlet for emerging music... Uncut, Q and Mojo covers seem to have Dylan, Coldplay, U2 and Nirvana on rotation...

  9. This thread is all wrong. There are 2 main issues with Segways -

    1. Ground conditions. If there is any amount of rain above 5mm (I.e. below average), The churn rate would make the viscosity too great for the Segway to gain any kind of grip.

    2. Crowds. Even if the ground is dry, attempting to travel the site at busy times would be far slower by Segway than on foot - the mentality of the crowd would be to, at least, make your journey awkward, at worst, topple you from the device and strip you of all your possessions.

    Now.

    I do have the solution.

    I'm taking a Jet Pack.

No crowds in the sky, no mud, and you can traverse the site in under 2 minutes (I did a trial run last week).

I'm thinking of setting up a service providing the use of the jet pack when I'm not needing it (to cover costs), and tapping into the farm's Red Diesel supply to make sure fuel doesn't run out.

Let me know if you're interested.
