The monopolies are a massive barrier, but event the left leaning media (such as the Guardian) or the outlets providing the chance for opposition voices seemed to just say "we don't like this" without providing an alternative.
I would suggest (based on a hunch, nothing more) that the govt have positioned themselves so that if any of the big newspapers turn on them, they'll feed their rivals... At a time where every newspaper is in fear of falling circulation, they toe the line.
I'm also stumped by the psychology - if you come up with any theories I'm all ears!

You have to admire the way they're getting away with it.
Elected on language of being the party of 'working people' and 'aspiration'... Executing a budget that gives to the working masses with one hand, and takes away twice as much with the other.
Tax breaks for the highest earners (corporation tax cut = bigger profits = greater share to those with the most investments and inheritance tax cuts blatantly aimed at the rich). Cuts to the aspirational that could use help - especially poor-background students.
Even things like the rise in Insurance Premium Tax will hit the poorest, as it is a higher proportion of their outgpings.
AND it is swallowed up, thanks to the mass media who are desperate to curry favour to help them stay afloat.
It is a fantastic example of doing one thing, and selling a different story, which is being accepted as the truth.
I'm not sure if the lack of opposition is because Labour are going through a leadership campaign, are struggling to get their voices heard, or if they aren't fighting hard enough. I certainly haven't seen anyone really calling out the government on their decisions, and certainly not a viable alternative.
Why not give businesses a corporation tax break IF they sign up to a real living wage?
Why not means test inheritance tax based on the wealth of the person receiving the gift?
Why no increase in minimum wage for u25s to help 'aspiration'??
Simple answers, none of the above help make mid-high income earners happier, and therefore put the 'in it for myself' vote at risk.
The Tories have been sly and clever with this budget, but the real frustration is the lack of voices challenging them.

Off to YNot for my stag do... First time seeing Primal Scream live!
Think I have tickets for Prodigy in December too... But need more gigs.....

Mr Benthusiastic,
It was a pleasure to meet and camp with you, and share a couple of bands (centre of the stage, 15 rows back).
Such a great advert for intoxication in (at most) moderationmoderation - your mileage was off the chart.
I hope we have a repeat chance in 12 months time!
I bloody love Hot Chip.

Waiting for Alt-J, the sound system played Hey Jude...
Lad 1: Who sang this again?
Lad 2: Beatles
Lad 1: Ah, yeah. I remember.

In my Sunday evening emotional state.... Two Weeks by FKA Twigs was very special.
Over & Over and Flutes by Hot Chip were moments too, as was Go by the Chems.

I also thought the crowds this year were better than previous visits.
As Neil said, I recall a couple of occasions where the crowd moved in such a way that you were pretty much lifted off your feet and moving through a crowd swell - particularly when the ground is bad.
Waiting, and taking less obvious routes can help. We moved from JPT to Cabaret through the post-Kanye exodus, but took the long way round.
I will say that after a couple of visits to Shangri La, I have no desire to be part of that crowd - I know there's some great stuff there, but it's too packed for me.

I'm relatively ambivalent about chairs...
BUT
Leaving them sat empty when they fold away so easily is a real bug bear. I only clattered into one this year - I probably got tutted at, but my conscience is clear.
The Springsteen year I was wiped out by about 10 left in a line in the pitch black...

Dairy too - and great, just enough space for a communal chin wag area, good neighbours. Long queu foe the toilets though!

I was in one of the Leftfield debates, and a chap came in late on and started shouting some anti-left rubbish, heckling the speakers but without any real comment (and declined his chance to take the mic when offered), came across as a Right-wing loud mouth...
Yesterday I saw the same lad shoving his way through a urinal queue, and when I got in there he was going up against the fence rather than the urinal.
Not sure he really got the Glastonbury ethos.
Oh, AND he dropped & left his empties in Leftfield for somwone else to clear up.

Man, what a show that was
And when she addressed the crowd, she seemed genuine and appreciative too. Great stuff.

Drink beer then rum then cider than wine on the Friday.
-
I think it helps that the sound quality there is excellent, FKA Twigs was as clear as a bell, from quite a way back.
-
Probably my highlight of the weekend.
Over & Over was a real moment for me.
Amazing the difference the crowd by you can make, I went to Chem Bros last night and they were great, but the groups by me were more interested in getting out their heads or taking photos...

Lots of Twitter rage about Gate D -
Official Twitter just posted:
For those asking, Gate D is open and is running at full capacity. The logjam will clear soon. If you're static you will be moving shortly.

Last thing I read before heading off.
Beautiful.
Top work team!

The organisers really need to have a contingency plan for this sort of thing.
Who do we hold accountable?

Also,
Would loved to have seen Avalanches.
Think they've been on hiatus for about 13 years...

I thought it was clear that Glastonbury employs Chemtrails to control the event.
The Chemtrails industry has a direct dotted line to the RAND Corporation which, in turn, is controlled by the Illuminati.
Any coincidence that The word Chemtrails shares a number of letters with Illuminati!?!
The Pyramid stage and 'V' at the centre of the Eavis name confirms their attachment to Illuminati (ever wonder why JayZ, Beyonce and Kanye get booked over Rammstein??) And, by clear association, Chemtrails.
And, just check out the opener and headliner on Other Stage on Sunday..
CHEMical broTheRs
rIvAl Sons.

WE'RE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS HERE, PEOPLE.

That and the human CND get together suggest that it's very much on the agenda.

Thank you for that, much appreciated
