I had hoped for The The to headline Wednesday as they play in Sweden and Denmark on Friday and Saturday and thus might be difficult to fit with travel if playing on Thursday. I will be disappointed if the The The comeback do not feature om PS.

The return of The The would be good, but surely not the free concert on the Wednesday.

    Nah, they're a lot bigger.

I know it's not a perfect proxy but last.fm shows figures of 450k listeners for St Etienne and 2.4million for YYYs.

Last.fm's prime and user group coincided with YYYs demographic. Also it's worldwide, I agree that they're much bigger on the other side of the Atlantic, but Primavera is this side.

You must realise how much bigger than Saint Etienne they were/are though?

It's Blitz! is their finest work also.

They are a little bigger than St Etienne and probably more so with the thirty somethings nostalgic for that dull period in the earlier 2000s that are a large part of the Primavera crowd. Although, weren't St Etienne promoted to headliners in 2012 when Bjork pulled out?

But the question is whether YYYs are too big for Wednesday Night, and I'd say they're not too big. Not compared to Suede, Goat, St Etienne etc that have played that night recently.

Yep, they did and I was there, yay. It was amazing, the RayBan setting adding to the experience, of course. So, wouldn't mind at all if they played that slot again this year.

Someone mentioned Gabi wants more old-school hip hop in general: wouldn't bands like Jurassic 5 or Souls of Mischief be great for RayBan, as well? Stress is on "like" as I can't see they're touring, sadly. Any other ideas for this type of music?

    Public Enemy?

No Arctic Monkeys then unless they want to announce their biggest headliner well after their competitors as I already said yesterday.

It's highly unlikely that the Arctic Monkeys, if on the bill, will be their biggest headliner.

flights this year are looking stupidly expensive due to kids half term. god damn.

At least you're not flying from the Isle of Man, even getting to England is expensive because that's the TT Race period.

It's never happened before at BST, because the great majority of the ticketholders are there for the headline act. Can't imagine it will be any different for The Cure, even if they are starting a fair bit earlier than usual.

Wireless when it was at Hyde Park had the second stage headliners overlap with the Main Stage. I saw Aphex Twin and when I left Chemical Brothers were on, but they were so dull in comparison I drifted off.

Maybe there'll be another gig on in London that night.

My dream of a festival is a festival without headliners, only having credliners, where you can trust the festival is so well curated that it get sold out before even announcing a single name. For me Primavera is the closest I get. So my apologies, I wont cry for those sitting on the fence waiting for headliners.

To be honest I don't really know who headlined previous years. It's not like they're the last band on the main stage like at other festivals. in fact Mordor has two main stages.

I thought Neutral Milk Hotel were the headliners in 2015 after they were announced with a fanfare before Nick Cave's show the year before. And to me they were the most anticipated band. But in the end they only played the ATP, can't remember who the actual headliners were.

  9. I didn’t downvote you - I think, everybody has a different experience- who  I to say that wasn’t your best year?

    Lubomyr Melnik was superb.

I certainly agree the old ATP stage was outstanding. I think I feel in love with Primavera watching Shellac and Codene there in 2012. But after the move it still brought Neutral Milk Hotel, Sunn O))) and Einstraden Neubarton to Primavera.

2016 Radiohead, LCD Soundsystem, PJ Harvey,Tame Impala, Sigur Rós, Animal Collective, Beach House, the Last Shadow Puppets, Brian Wilson (performing Pet Sounds), John Carpenter, Pusha T, Neon Indian, Ty Segall and the Muggers, Julia Holter, Savages, Air, Action Bronson, Vince Staples, Explosions in the Sky, Moderat, Drive Like Jehu, Dinosaur Jr., Deerhunter, Chairlift, Kamasi Washington, Battles, Thee Oh Sees, Holly Herndon, Protomartyr, Sheer Mag, DJ Koze, Empress Of, Beirut, Dâm-Funk, Parquet Courts, Shellac, Hudson Mohawke (DJ), Floating Points, Titus Andronicus, Nao, Freddie Gibbs, U.S. Girls, Black Lips, Evian Christ, Beak>, Jenny Hval, Royal Headache, Car Seat Headrest, Wild Nothing, Mudhoney, Cass McCombs, Tortoise, Suede, Downtown Boys, Alex G, Jay Rock, the Chills, Moses Sumney, Dungen

    Not powerful??

Well it was a little weaker than most. Radiohead almost broke it on the Friday. Firstly, the were a lot of good acts on at the same time, presumably to draw people away from Mordor. So I ended up only seeing a bit of Tortoise, Shellac, Dinosaur Jr, and Tim Gane’s band because they all clashed - and all ended up playing to small crowds too. Then the people who’d been watching Radiohead came back, subdued and bored and talked through all the other bands.

LCD in Barts, Mudhoney on the Sunday and the closing party at the Apollo rescued it. It also suffered, like this year from the loss of the ATP stage.

  11. Thursday was good - Brix and Slowdive especially.

Friday - a bit flat. Shame about the headliners Mac DeMarco overhyped charmless buffoon on the main stage and Lucinda Williams who was hyped to death 30 years ago and not done anything of note since. Pity because the other nights had headliners of note on both stages. Liked the Radio  3 Stuff in the Tipi.

Saturday - Lemon Twigs were fun until the drummer and singer/guitarist swapped. Car Seat Headrest were majestic. Plastic Markers were a great new band. Ty Segal intense and fun, pity he doesn't have any songs. Saw the Burning Hell on Piano Stage

Sunday - best day despite the rain. Watched the three Erased Tapes acts at the Piano Stage - a unique experience. Was feeling very cold and wet - went back to change, fell asleep, woke to the JMC. Saw Bill Callaghan be magnificent, then Japanandroids be powerful and was still refreshed for the secret shows in the Tipi.

How does Auditori Rockdelux work as a venue ?

Seems to be outside of the Site, but also has a separate ticket collection area.

It is outside the main site - but close to the entrance. You queue up to go in. Security won't let you take drinks in.

Entry is with your wristband, but best to be there early.

It has it's own box office because some gigs - Jeff Mangum, Panda Bear, Suede in previous years require an extra ticket of about €1 cost to enter. This is mainly to restrict numbers at the most popular gigs. I expect the Magnetic Fields shows will have this arrangment.
