Then the years before, christ. The tent burning, the looting, the campsite warfare.
Not riots though, is it.

Aitch was on ShowFilmFirst for £15 for his 'small' Shephards Bush show. Wasn't he set to be 'massive' a few years ago?
Same for ArrDee. That scene moves on quickly.

Kerry did an interview like a week again saying he hasn’t spoken to Tom since they broke up and doesn’t feel the need to, that Tom despises touring and that he doesn’t think Slayer will be back any time soon 😂
Main Stage sub next year, for sure, I would think.

There were no riots.

fingers crossed, they were excellent in 2019
Seconded. One of the best headline sets I’ve seen at Leeds.

Biffy are a headline act still. At this festival and Download.

It's just a simple fact that a top line of Royal Blood, Lizzo and Lil Nas X is stronger than one of Arctic Monkeys, Guns'n'Roses and Elton with Royal Blood, Lizzo and Lil Nas X on immediately before them.
It’s the same for people who say Download should give KoRn a headline slot. Why bump KoRn up when you can have a headline act with KoRn playing under them?

They need just one small tent at night at Leeds playing rock and indie music. They used to have a Propaganda night on the Thursday. There’s needs to be some alternative to dance music. There would be enough people to have a rock/indie night each night in one of the small tents. Hell, even if it’s just one or two nights.

Probably a very unpopular opinion but both the 1975 and more appropriately bring me the horizon are future headliners and deservedly so due to both being incredible live.
BMTH are too heavy to headline the Pyramid, no matter how much more pop leaning their newer material is. Their songs are still downtuned to hell and contain too many unclean vocals. There is no precedent for a band with vocals as extreme as theirs playing high up the pyramid, let alone headlining. They would make a fantastic Other headliner, however.

Second. Indeed, it's that album which has got me on board with them.
It’s their best album. Every single one of them is an absolute superstar on it.

After seeing their production last night, Enter Shikari playing the Chevron Stage would be insane but probably don't suit the vibe
Yeah, that would be nuts. The tour setup is unbelievable, I went last week. I think they will play third down Main in 2025, though. Get that big production up on that big stage. Download is going to be awesome.

Can't seenit happening, they aren't aren't going to tour the UK for 3 years straight. Last albums was early 2023, given how deep into this year they are supporting Taylors tour, I feel 2026 I the spot. I think This is Why overall was crap but Reading missed the boat massively to not get them on a UK Festival exclusive after the Taylor tour this year and book Blink, Paramore and Fred instead of Liam again.
They’re free from their label now. I don’t think we’re going to be waiting too long for new material. They’ll capitalise off the most successful year they’ve ever had.
This Is Why isn’t crap, btw. It just isn’t.

You're not looking up at the sky though are you?, it's just going to be like a big camera that you have right in front of you of the stage.
But you will find yourself looking upwards because of the display. I can only imagine what The Prodigy and Skrillex are going to do with such technology, they’re going to make it a key part of the performance with the graphics and lights they choose. Again, it’s immersive.
It’s not completely the same but it brings to mind the Las Vegas Sphere. You would say ‘you’re going to be looking at the stage’ for that venue, would you? No, because the whole idea of it being so immersive is the appeal and the point in it existing. The same for this stage.

Right....who cares about an LED roof if the performance is infront. It's actually Vegas' freemont street meets Reading then. With freemont though, you actually go because the roof is the attraction with background music.
The LED display is part of the performance. It’s immersive.

Foos with Paramore subbing, maybe? I know that's what Bonnaroo did last year.
Tbf we don't know if doing the Eras run with Taylor might give them a big popularity uplift. And the fact they sold out their arena run last year fairly easily hints a crowd is out there for them.
It’s been discussed before but I think Paramore are main headliner or bust. They sold out the biggest tour of their career on this record, won tonnes of awards and the most critical praise of their careers and they’re supporting the biggest tour in the world. They’re only going to get bigger support Taylor. If they’ve got a record out in 2025, I’d bet on them being at R&L. A slam dunk booking.

Bleachers one day?

Yeah Foos are basically THE quintessential R&L band. If the festival is going to lean more towards rock again they'd be a perfect headliners, be a huge draw, plus they absolutely love playing so if they are available they'll be there.
I’d put money on Foos being there next year.

Some predictions for the big stages…
MAIN: Paramore, Olivia Rodrigo & Foo Fighters
CHEVRON: Bicep, Chase & Status & Becky Hill
RADIO 1: Bombay Bicycle Club, IDLES & Little Simz
I think they’ll go back to having 3 Main headliners next year. Maybe they had most of this year’s six booked when they thought they’d still have two Main Stages so that’s why they’re billed as headliners even though we know they’re glorified subs.
If they do persist with marketing six headliners, I’ll go with this:
MAIN: Paramore, Olivia Rodrigo, Foo Fighters, Tyler the Creator, Tame Impala & Kasabian.

Surely they are not going to clash Prodigy v Blink 182? No point in having a 40,000 venue with the headliners on at the same time as Main Stage headliner?

Do we think the R1 stage is a dance stage rebrand or is it the big tent?
The Dance Stage is the old tent, isn’t it? Because for the last couple of years, the tent used for the Dance has been massive and I thought it was the old R1 tent being used. Could be wrong.

Wolf Alice will never headline a major festival like R&L or Glastonbury.

I’ve just had the Official R&L Spotify playlist on for an hour and a bit on a drive and this lineup is absolutely stunning. I’ve just heard so many songs by people I’ve never listened to and I only skipped a couple of tracks, those being the old Skrillex songs because they sound so dated now and a couple of the house DJs.
Yours Truly were fun old early 2010s pop punk, Crawlers are great, Bad Nerves and Mannequin Pussy were really good. Jorja Smith has some amazing songs. What a lineup.

It really isn’t. Calling them riots is being hugely hyperbolic and feeds into the narrative that R&L has become some sort of hellscape. Unless you’re talking about 2002 or whatever, the campsite issues in recent times are minuscule compared. It was hardly civil unrest.
