Country's doing very very well atm! We've even got Morgan Wallen at #2 in the UK charts currently with a Post Malone collab.

Zach Bryan is a bit different from the usual bro-country fare though in fairness. He's a bit more folky/Americana and does very well critically.

    That is absolute sh*t.

  2.  not long now! Top 10 acts everyone is looking forward to? In order:

    1. Pantera

    2. Machine Head

    3. Limp Bizkit

    4. Dying Wish

    5. Enter Shikari

    6. Bad Omens

    7. Queens Of The Stone Age

    8. Electric Callboy

    9. Code Orange

    10. The Callous Daoboys

  3. Lineup survey for 2025 is on socials. I answered the following:

5 headliners: My Chemical Romance, Kendrick Lamar, Paramore, The Strokes & Tyler the Creator

3 headliners from the list: Metallica, Travis Scott & Tame Impala

5 non-headline acts: Turnstile, IDLES, Chase & Status, Little Simz & Knocked Loose

3 non-headliners from the list: Deftones, KoRn & Bloc Party

3 more non-headliners from the list: Lil Nas X, Limp Bizkit & Machine Gun Kelly

I couldn’t help but notice there were far more heavy options to choose from compared to the last few surveys. I was surprised to see some names in there.

I think the times and youth have completely changed with the advent of mobile phones, social media and Internet, and more accessible/realistic video games .. and shockingly 9/11.

After 9/11, everything changed, the entire mood in pop culture went darker, we lost the upbeat TV comedies like Friends etc and comedy and music went a lot more nihilistic.

    https://www.wsj.com/articles/how-9-11-changed-pop-culture-in-america-11631026800

Britpop was very much the culture of 90s Britain before everything got dark and scary, when we didn't have access to 24/7 news at our finger tips, we weren't filled with fear constantly, and we weren't hooked on trying to live the most hollow life to present it to social media in a twisted vanity project.

20-30 years ago, we would leave the house and go to your local flat top pub, drink pints, probably a little sick down their jeans after downing a 35cl bottle of vodka from the offy on the bus, whilst girls danced to the shite DJ wearing foundation for lipstick, and the latest BANK blouse and PBJ clutch and a 20 pack of £1.49 L&B. The lads got into fights with bouncers and the night would end in town where you'd go to a late night club and could be as messy as you want, as a finger up to your straight edge parents that told you to stay safe and out of trouble. The music reflected this and you could bop to it because they sang what you were living.

Now everything is commercialised, you take an uber to the club in a £400 on a Gucci t shirt and £1200 on a Moncler coat, have to stand posed all night incase someone has you in the background of their Instagram story. Girls wear the skimpiest outfits in hope they can flash a cheek in a photo to get a few more likes and a sponsorship deal. Alcohol gets you to messy and anti-photogenic so they stick to cocaine. The music is all about being posed and the brands you wear. Kids can't connect with the old britpop because we don't live like that anymore.

The closest we have to the old style is the 'rock' focused clubs and bars, because the rock scene is less focused on posing and more on making noise with a finger up at authority. Unfortunately 90% of it is manufactured radio friendly rock, created by focus groups like Imagine Dragons and Wet Leg.

Ahh yes, the 90s! That decade where people famously didn’t do drugs.

Your whole post is about Britain and Britpop, so you link an article about the USA?

Also, worst post I’ve ever seen on here. HANDS DOWN.

    Exactly....because its good PR.

Where you and the idiot below say about hard working, the main reason I mention this is because is there not more than NHS staff that are hard working? Do Other people not do jobs that involve hard work too? What about people helping their loved one's at home that are dieing?...if they get cover to be able to get a night off to go out and enjoy themselves but aren't apart of any valid organisation, they don't count between apparently they don't work hard enough.

It's really not a stupid post but I could have guaranteed the downvote was you.

Newsflash!, people got sick and died before covid came along. But we'll bang on the wagon and pretend that since March 2020 and ongoing no one else works hard?, no one sits at home as a carer for their elderly family member who is dieing? They do though don't they!, but because they don't qualify for blue light card/NHS worker it means naff all doesn't it!, they are important too but not in your world!

‘I don’t get that so why should they?’ Pathetic, immature mentality. Explain all you like, we’ve just seen what type of person you are.

  6. 2 hours ago, northernangel said:

Why are they still doing an only good offer for the NHS? Respectfully, covid was at its start 4 year's ago and has died off that much that the standard of it these days is referred to as a different or heavier cold.

Yeah, because everyone has just stopped getting sick now so NHS workers just sit about all day with their feet up drinking tea waiting for someone to come in. Stupid post.

  7. No chance some sort of weird, reformed LP play R&L. They’ll be at Download if anything. Three members plus some other singer isn’t Linkin Park though, is it? I’m sure it’ll be cool for some people to go along and see those songs but it shouldn’t be headlining festivals.

  8. Download have announced their District X after hours entertainment.

Sullivan King is an unreal booking and one of the best of the entire festival. It’s his first ever UK show. He’s a DJ who mixes dubstep with metal, playing live guitar and doing vocals. His shows look insane and it’s going to go off in the tent when he plays. I’m looking forward to seeing him more than a lot of the lineup.

    Yup....... DEAD ANNOUNCEMENT

    Thats our lot too...

Anyone rushing to get tickets off that?

    ...Nope

So much promise that they let go

Given that no other ticket category bar Saturday has shifted to the point theyre trying to charge people more, Im guessing now we should be assuming the same kind of attendance as last year on the other days?

Or can people see any of the listed artists blowing up?

It’s not our lot as the poster still says more to be announced. Granted it won’t be much, like.

I still think the lineup is excellent, even if almost the entirety of that list of added acts the other day left me scratching my head wondering who the vast, vast majority are. Then again, it’s not aimed at me, really. There was more than enough in the first couple of announcements to ensure my attendance. Most of the stuff I want to see is on the main stage, R1 and FR so I’m happy with how those have panned out.

That being said, I’m all for a bit of a quieter year if sales done go mad between now and August.

    Spiritbox

    Rise Against

    Neck Deep

    The Story So Far

    This is not the case.

Every day in 2019 had 9 acts

    etc etc…

So it is! I must be thinking of Download who have 8. Apologies 🙂

However, I’m still expecting 8 because of the 6 ‘headliners’ thing. The ‘subs’ will have longer sets, I should think.

    Yet more shrinkflation if so

…and they’ll still be scratching their heads as to why no one is paying £350 to go Leeds

They’ll be opening the gates at 2pm by 2026

It isn’t. The Main Stage didn’t routinely have 9 acts on for years before it went to two Main Stages. It used to be 9 each day in 2010/11 but pretty soon after that it was always 8, with the exception being the day Billie Eilish was moved to the Main Stage in 2019.

Just bump them one slot on the suggested line up.

Gives Neck Deep a longer break in between the double set too. Everyone's a winner.

Agreed. I’d argue that Neck Deep are the bigger band of the two in the UK these days but it gives them more time between slots.

    Blink-182 / Gerry Cinnamon / Two Door Cinema Club / Spiritbox / Rise Against / Neck Deep / The K’s / Kneecap

The Story So Far to play the R1 Stage at some point that day because I can’t see the Main Stage having 9 acts.

Rise Against have announced a couple of shows in Manchester and London just before R&L - could they be added? Perhaps to the Blink day

    Blink / Gerry / TDCC / Spiritbox / Neck Deep / Rise Against / Story so Far / The K’s / Kneecap

I was thinking the same thing.

Yungblud subbing Download over Glastonbury and Reading high options I dont see.  Also why are The Gaslight Anthem going to sub second stage whern they have the same slot at Trees that Don Broco do.Except for that it is probably not that far off but a lot of saved money. I'd stick Papa Roach in there as they are more than likely going to be about.

Reading or DL are as likely as each other, I think. I just think he’d be a great fit under Blink.

They might have the same slot at Trees but that doesn’t take away the fact that Broco play arenas and Gaslight don’t. Broco will have a new album out come 2025 so I think they will get a long overdue big slot at DL.

Papa Roach and Download must have some sort of problem because they haven’t played in a decade despite being around consistently.

  17. APEX: Sleep Token / Deftones / Spiritbox / Malevolence

    OPUS: Judas Priest / Opeth

    AVALANCHE: Fightstar

    DOGTOOTH: Whitechapel

APEX: Blink-182 / YUNGBLUD / Pierce The Veil / Turnstile

    OPUS: Sabaton / Meshuggah

    AVALANCHE: Feeder

    DOGTOOTH: Igorrr

APEX: Iron Maiden / Gojira / Lamb of God / Mastodon

OPUS: Don Broco / The Gaslight Anthem

    AVALANCHE: The All American Rejects

    DOGTOOTH: Napalm Death

  18. I got offered the chance to go to this for free the other day and I still passed it up. There’s not even enough on this lineup to justify the beer money for me this year.

With prices like they have, they need to be offering something bigger and better.
