  1. Both similar but Y not had problems over last few years with new production team finding their feet The weather been unkind to them also but it’s been equally unkind to Kendal and it would appear Kendal are more equipped set up to deal with the rain . But that said a change is as good as rest !

As the Kendal site has Idles, Dermot Kennedy and Mystery jets as the first 3 acts named on Calling Out Stage page are we safe in assuming that’s the 3 headliners announced?

Mmmmmm dunno on that probs wait until the second wave announcements but it could be likely

I’m hoping to go to Kendal again this year but can’t book tickets just yet.

When have they sold out in previous years and are we expecting the same this year?

Also, do the Thursday tickets sell out before the main weekend tickets?

    Thanks.

Line up been pretty well received so I can’t see it getting to May if I’m honest I would say you have a month definitely ( who Knows) Thursday is usually on sale until a few days before the festival and I can’t see orbital and Gomez having a rush on ticket

Unfortunately those scenes will stretch to the whole weekend....I like courteeners but I can only take being around their fanbase for a couple of hours every now and then. Not sure I could take a whole weekend of them woah-oh-ing over every other band....

Do love the lineup though! Not around this year for it as have other plans but lots of stuff for me on there, Doves and Manics would do me on their own but there is a lot on the undercard too.

Shame you can’t make it this year mate I will scream Alan in your honour as I trudge home through the campsite at 3 am 1 morning! Might even stretch to a woah - oh !

Hi I'm gonna try and get tickets today , but it says the living wagon area is sold out ...how is this possible if the tickets arnt on sale yet .

It does say to go on a waiting list , but does this mean I will defiantly get a spot ? and if so do you have to pay extra for the caravan camping ?

The tickets will have all gone in the sale immediately after the festival last year , all is not lost though put your name on the waiting list there is always some for sale later and there is always folk selling them for a profit usually double the price nearer the time . I know it’s stress but you will get sorted it’s just a waiting game , the live in vehicle and emperors field add on’s are extremely popular with the regulars and they sell out with in hours at the sale in August. Good luck and try not to stress you will get what you want it’s just a waiting game .

Can’t believe we got away wirt Run DMC! Hoping Orbital headline as a nighttime set would be great. 5 headliners into 4 nights doesn’t go

Orbital looks like Thursday headline as there is an asterisk as previous Thursday headers . Obviously Tom will co heading with someone then it works bit like the beach boy year

Given that I've heard that Biffy are playing a festival in the UK this year that they have yet to perform at and following the IOW announcement this morning, I would expect them to be turning up at Kendal Calling

not my thing at all hope your wrong

They had Young Fathers in a tent and Leftfield headlining. I’m keeping the faith.

Great wee set up. I think the date change will help.

Fair points about the reduced income and the likelihood that the line up might suffer but they’re coming off the back of 2 years with pretty decent weather and lineups so hopefully...they’re building something here to replace Wickerman which regularly pulled 10k plus.

Last year of wickerman was 6k well publisced in the media ! You got lulu and the water boys ! Then they throw in example dj set ! Was great but they lost 300k ! Game over !  Electric has been subsided by partners for the last 3 shows increasing the capacity every year and by the looks of it .............. it’s not worked electric has been spoiled! Reality check inevitable! Let’s blame Brexit

    What makes you say that?

Simple economics for a start they’ve halfed the capacity. Ok I’m being unfair think bands along the lines of slow readers club being high up on the main , fatherson and anything on at say Kendal before 6pm . I’m not going next year as I’m doing courteeners at Heaton making it a bit special for the handbrake (wife) staying at hotel Gotham then I’m keen to fit in a day at Trnsmt seriously thinking Kraftwerk at the Dot then Kendal so pretty staked . I wouldn’t be buying tickets until I had an idea of the lineup.

    Think wickerman ............. lulu . .............

do any of our Scottish friends on here know if the Bluebells tour these days ?

  10. 10 hours ago, DDave said:

Me too. Still a toss up between this and Blue Dot but I'll hopefully find a way to do both.

Predicted Elbow yesterday but that's most likely been ruled out by them being at Belladrum

So I'll go Franz Ferdinand / Suede & Underworld

Be very surprised by them 3 as headline acts if I’m honest !

Think more like big country , stereo mc’s and 2 unlimited . Gone are the days of punching above their weight on headline acts .

    Lol.

Gonna be hard to turn this one down if the headliners are the ones suggested. It's only 25 minutes away and we did have a great time. But as per usual, it's down to cash money and it'll probably be a direct choice between this and Electric Fields which even though is a 3 hour drive will still be much cheaper and offers a better line up of bands in the day (well at least it did this year anyway) and more spacious family camping.

    That said...those headliners :-0

is electric on in 2019 ? they were selling tickets for 2018 way before now . its ok just to bloody cold !

Might be one for youse. Biffy Clyro and Bastille have been announced for Indiependence in County Cork on the first weekend of August. Seems to be about half the size of Y NOT. I know Irish popularity is different to in England but they both seem to have taken a step down.

edit: didn't realise Kendal, Y Not and Truck were all the same weekend now. Maybe those too/instead.

Truck was always week before , that’s 4 global / broadwick shows in 1 weekend if you add standon calling as well . As a KC goer id be pretty miffed with them 2 !

I reckon the Courteeners selling out 55000 tickets for Heston Park this morning effectively makes them too big for Kendal Calling

Yeah but they wouldn’t shift 55 k of tickets outside Manchester! Plus it’s done on the cheap this show all of the infrastructure will already be there from parklife so it’s essentially just another weeks hire of park and equipment with no build or load out costs ! Still a chance they will do the likes of Kendal and so on .

While that’s true, they did sell out 50k tickets for Old Trafford last year so I agree with dental that they’re maybe a bit big for Parklife now.

SJM own parklife and also promote and manage The courteeners. Anything is possible.
