How confident are people feeling that we'll get something new from Arcadia? I hope not but I'm feeling like there's a chance we're getting same old spider in that field.

Before someone has a go I know 'the spider is great for newbies still'. Doesn't stop me wanting to see something new though 😜

I'd like to think that the longer we go without any idea of what they've got planned means they're keeping something cool under wraps. Of course, that could also mean they're trying to give themselves as much time as possible to make something new happen and come June they'll have to relent and go back to the Spider-lite...again. I'm choosing to believe the former, though.

Very strange!  He last visited yesterday but he hasn't posted a word since before Coachella.

Not even any updates on the amount of cash registers

I hear there were only 85 this year. Very disappointing.

  4. I don't really understand the fuss about special guests. Not the endless speculation, at least. It's become another one of the strange modern Glastonbury phenomena. Don't get me wrong, when it happens (particularly the occasions where people least suspect it - Bruce Springsteen with McCartney, for example), it can be magical, but the mindless clamour amongst the camp I was in last year just before Elton came on was ridiculous. I lost count of the names that "someone they'd bumped into who works for the BBC" had heard. Britney, Dua, McCartney, Eminem, Harry Styles, etc. It's Elton John. Is that not enough? It turned out to be Brandon Flowers and a couple other lesser known artists. Probably didn't add anything at all to the overall performance.

Same situation the year before, Dr Dre and Eminem were supposedly dropping in with Kendrick. Turned out to be one of the most fantastically choreographed performances I've ever witnessed and not a guest in sight.

I have to agree with a few above. In hindsight, most guest spots that I've seen aren't that memorable.

According to his website, the Frank Turner gig will be a solo show. Shame, but will still be good.

The festival probably can't spare the tickets for the Sleeping Souls...

For me he's a real DJ's DJ. Loves the craft of creating a set and as a producer he has made some fantastic stuff.

His set with Richard Fearless on Glade last year was also great, though it suffered a little bit from being on the Thursday when less was going on - so there were a lot of people just there so that they were somewhere. But their selections were wonderful.

After foolishly leaving his LH set early, as lamented above, I'll be looking to see him again this year. Hope he's playing elsewhere over the weekend too, as the sound on the new big Glade is, for me, only 'ok'.

    Ben

Saturday at J2 must have your name on it, Ben?

If they get a full day's programme, with the variety that fabric champion, that could be phenomenal.

I'd be delighted if that was The Levels or Lonely Hearts, as the former is a spectacle, but the sound on the latter last year was spectacular.

What about DVS1 b2b Helena Hauff at 1am on The Levels.

    Can you even imagine?!

    Ben

DVS1 currently in the Netherlands on Saturday.

    Hauff currently free all weekend.

    Possibilities. Sunday night closer?

Did I read somewhere that 'Fabric' are taking over a stage in Silver Hayes one of the days?

If so I wonder if this is where the likes of Sasha/ Craig Richards/ Digweed etc may end up..?

Also there is the talk of Levels getting bigger this year.

Expect any of the names below:

Gonna do a bold prediction for the order:

    Acoustic

    Avalon

    Shangri-La

    The Glade

    New Map (this week)

    ️Theatre & Circus (this week)

    Kidzfield (this week)

    Silver Hayes (next week)

    West Holts (next week)

    The Common (next week)

    Leftfield (next week)

    Glasto Latino (in 2 weeks)

    Croissant Neuf (in 2 weeks)

    Woodsies (in 3 weeks)

    Arcadia (in 3 weeks)

    Block 9 (in 3 weeks)

    Pilton Palais (in 4 weeks)

    Unfairground (in 4 weeks)

    The Park (in 4 weeks)

    Strummerville (no announcement)

    Carhenge (in 5 weeks)

Full lineup & timings in 5 weeks

Separate Poetry & Words announcement in 2 weeks, and Deluxe Diner & Rocket Lounge in 3 weeks

Will definitely all be completely wrong, but by the looks of it it means we'll be getting an average of 3 announcements per week - get in!

I still think the map will be into May. Probably after the Arcadia and Block 9 announcements. And if Williams Green is returning in some capacity, they'll probably want a big reveal of that too.

  10. How times have changed. Silver Hayes used to be the one area that people really disliked. Weird vibe, average lineup. Now most are looking at Silver Hayes as the main late night area rather than the South East Corner. Speaks volumes for the improvements in SH and the perception of certain areas creatively standing still elsewhere.

I don't think I'll look back and think, 'I wish I'd washed Camelphat and some more jump up drumnbass.' 😄

😃 Maybe not, but I guarantee there'll be a number of acts you don't know today but you will in the next few years, and you'll wish you saw them (hindsight being 20/20, of course).

This is why people clamour for the lineup asap isn't it? To discover some of the under the radar acts that become must-sees. Dig deep, I reckon there'll still be lots of interest.

Looking at the 2019 line up of the 3/4 stages in the Glade area has depressed me. So much variety.

    Main -  https://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/line-up/line-up-2019/#glade

    Lounge - 2019 | Glastonbury Festival (glastonburyfestivals.co.uk)

    Spaceport - https://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/line-up/line-up-2019/#spaceport

That said I do love the new layout now. Without doubt less is more with the 2 decent venues with amazing sound.

However, line up wise, I don't think anyone can argue that this year's line up is better than that.

I often look back at previous year's lineups with envious eyes. Why on earth I didn't close out the festival with Giant Swan (RIP) and Squarepusher in 2019 is completely beyond me. No doubt, in 2029 I'll look back on this years event and have similar thoughts

Oh yes! Maybe THAT'S the stage I'm thinking of!! Although wasn't that 'on the right' and then if you went past it and veered to the left you got to Truth v1.0?

This is ridiculous. I need to let this go!

    Ben

This is the stage you're thinking of

I was very happy to see Bukem on the Glade lineup this year, hopefully a late night set. Missed him last year due to being too tired after an Oxfam shift.

IICON was a slightly unusual slot last year, but very welcome. I loved it.

Yeah, I mean after they dumped Heaven (which one year was a really odd venue - a sort of v small amphitheatre all in white, with no-one there most of the time). I wish my spangled memory could recall more about the version of Truth I'm thinking of. Might have been it's first year.

    Ben

I also remember the short-lived Clash stage from 2017. Had balconies on either side with the crowd below the DJs but had a ridiculous Soundsystem at ground level. Opposite the original version of the Gas Tower...which was also far superior to the current iteration

I need the educated minds of the forum to highlight acts for me to see this year.

I'm generally have  guitar centered tastes but my mind was blown by the Hospital sets on saturday last year to the extent that i've questioned all my life choices thus far!

Who are the D&B acts I NEED to see this year from those already announced or anything else you would recommend to expand my mind?

    So far:

LTJ Bukem. Been around for over 30 years, one of the pioneers of the intelligent/liquid sound.

Randall. Jungle royalty. Widely considered one of the greats among his peers.

DJ Rap. Another original junglist and still probably the best female DJ/producer in DnB.

Friction. Owner of Shogun Audio, responsible for some huge remixes as well as his own tracks. Also recognisable from his Radio One DnB show.

If you like jump-up, you've got K-Motionz, Turno, AMC, Phantom. All of which have absolutely massive tunes.

    There will be more...
