Busy, busy, busy!

Biggest news is that K has got an interview Friday! Bit it's just one part of our busy week and she has more after this! The weekend was chocker for us got our last batch of fish, - a moody male dwarf gourami, some over-sexed golden barbs and a Siamese Algae Eater (at last!) so we have a full tank now and so no more fish for a year or two. 50 of the colourful little critters and over a year of getting water stats spot on!!! We went down to see my gran who was a bit grumpy, cos her pension

Busy weekend ahead!

Ah happy Beltaine! Usually I'd spend it down the Double Locks in the sunshine, but instead it's going to be hectic! First up we have to prepare the field tonight for one of the highlights of the archery calendar our club hosts the prestigious Grand Day where we play host to archers from the south of the country and further afield. Hundreds of them, which means when I finish work here at eFest towers, I have to rush off and mark out the field as cricketers are using it tomorrow - they'll continue

busy few days

Archery Friday was fantastic - clear skies, sunset and shooting outdoors with a new long bow. That was before we were off to Exfolk for a very enjoyable night. 3DM were terrific, Kangaroo Moon as great as ever but Mark Ronson looks old not seen him in 20 years so it's not surprising. Guess this means Gong must look wizened even more thse days! Real find was local based boy from High Wycombe - Leo James. Click myspace Superb singer/songwriter. Nuala was also really wonderful - indoor gigs

Busy Busy

Work have decided to up the anti this month - to ridiculously high productivity levels - I'm now producing each day the equivalent of what the whole office of six staff used to do in a month when i first started - hence my blog being a bit quiet. Trouble is the work load is giving me headaches now - and i had a really bad one at archery on Tuesday - nearly buckled over i did, shot through the pain though - for a low score however. Talking of archery off out to the woods this weekend to shoot f

blah Bad Weather

Well after a night filling my veins with real ale at the pub last night and awaking to find it's a hoolie outside we decided not to go to the festival today and stay at home instead. Which has been fine as there's lots of football on and the house needed a tidy up - but i keep crashin' out i need fresh air and a field to stay awake home comforts seem much too comfy and I've only been awake about three hours all day.

Black smoke!

Grrr - as usual returning from Reading has led to slowly feeling more and more like crap every day until yesterday a stream of black gunk issues forth from my nose and i get the Reading flu. Now, i feel awful, my deadline at work has slid, my reviews of Reading sunday night still haven't been written - thankfully i took a huge wedge of notes and I've been in work half an hour and feel a mess. We've got Folkfest at the weekend - and metcgheck has it as one of their events - which i think i

Bit of Luck

A new French Deli has opened on Fore Street so we went there yesterday to check it out. Downstairs is a tiny wine cellar - where i happened upon a bottle of 'Domaine de la Commanderie de St. Jean Merlot/Syrah VdP des Coteaux de Laurens' for £6.95. Drank it last night - it was truly wonderful - so i checked it's price on everywine.co.uk and it turns out it's normally £60 a bottle! Wow what a bargain! I think I'll be visiting the deli regularly! ...which was nice

Birthdays v Festies v reviews

I've sat here, looked at internet, snoozed and watched the fish, only trouble is I'm supposed to be getting ready for the carnage that is a birthday party/sleepover thing tomorrow. I can't move.

Big news soon....

Well there's a big change in my life on the horizon, and I can't say anymore than that but it can't come soon enough. Looking forward to heading to Spain in the beginning of December - the temperature in Murcia is over 20 degrees both day and night at the moment - lovely! Have to get in touch with Boris and Jo and firm up meeting them - not looking forward to getting the plane at 4am though! But really looking forward to the first break since festie season and getting a Wii too! Looks like Metr

Big news

My sister in law is getting married in New Zealand next year. So in order to finance it we're selling the house and moving, well the neighbours have won I guess - but at least we'll get some sleep. However it's not the wedding I'm excited about but instead the possibility of us getting a flight from Auckland to Port Vila (I'm going home!!!!) Yup I've already managed to secure the services of the lovely Sheila in Auckland Holiday Shoppe who is on the case and enquiring about staying on

Beautiful Daze

Just got back - after a weekend of cider! the lack of feeling in my hands meant i kept dropping pints so I've joined the tankard brigade. Lovely weekend - although it's a bit of a realisation for me that my real life friends are less festie hardened and found it more difficult. Loved the weekend - although it seemed a much slower pace than last week's Endorse It. Still more fan Glasto for me and equally as nice as Wychwood - i do like late night (all night) entertainment and so would put it thir

Beaut Days Overview!

Overview Bloomin’ Heck! What a Ball! I couldn’t wait for the fourth Beautiful Days hoping it would at least live up to the previous three, which from its superlative start has been bettered each year. I really should put more faith in the organisers, Exeter-based promoter Dave Farrow and friends who really have nurtured the growth of Beautiful Days carefully and are clearly realising their vision to put Devon at the top of the festival tree. This year’s festival was better and grander t

Back to School

Well I'm being driven mad at work by Sleeping Beauty - I'm putting a comic book with games in it of the story together and the story is too short so I'm having to pad the thing out and trying to do it by just adding floss rather than my natural instinct to add superfluous stuff and confuse kids through out Europe. You know like saying she had a puppy or that her sister escaped the curse etc. But no i have to stick to the traditional story, bah. Anyways, it's also the first day back at school.

Award Winning

This weekend was expensive - firstly we tooled up the Mrs with a mid-range bow plus accessories and I bought a dozen - heavier weight 32" (45-55lb) arrows. Quicks must have been glad to see us. Then it was the club championships. And we all walked away with silverware. I got the best barebow score 331 and Z came second in the juniors. K got third in novices. Z also got a trophy for the Junior League (another second) and I won the league for Short Windsor (that's shooting 50 and then 40 yards)

Arrrghhhhh!

House is up for sale, we have new neighbours and they are bustards of the highest order. Loud, stupid and on a drug fuelled binge that's lasted 4 days so far. I wouldn't mind but their music's shiet and they shout bollocks and one of them just howls all night. but we can't complain or it's constituted us not getting on with the neighbours and could hamper a sale. K however is using her drug squad connecos (from her council work) soon and as they are a multi-occupancy house without a licence

arrival Glastonbury 2011

Here we are again. We arrived in the campervan fields yesterday. The journey in the campervan uneventful. We set up the awning, and settled back in the long grass and the sunshine. Z was excited as her school is out the way, it's the first year she is able to come before Friday. As the sun set we lit the BBQ, and suppered on burgers and haloumi. A few beers, and the obligatory look at the site at night all lit up and waiting for us it was off to bed. We were woken by voices, and the trudged of

Archery

Well yesterday's archery was great fun and knackering! The ECOA (Exeter Company of Archers) has around 80 members and run loads of tournaments. I've been 'fitted' for my bow a 68" 20lb left handed one - number 43! And did pretty well getting most in the centre of the target and I was surprised how knackered i was after two hours of constant shooting. Z did really well as well, and is hoping to compete in junior nationals next year! But i was told my technique probably rules me out for Olympics 2

Archery

Well me and Z have just had our second session of Archery and it's fantastic. We're both doing really well and had our first go with sights yesterday took a bit of getting used to but we're both getting gold with them. Next week it's our first scored session so there's a bit of competion going on then and after that we join GNAS and get are cards to fire at any archery field and carry bows! One of the instructors had been out hunting pheasent and had shot a brace of them. Mmmm huntin' your

and so it properly begins

Conditions were near perfect in front of the main Pyramid stage for the eFestivals World Cup football match which raised over £8000 for WaterAid. With the crowds entertained by Hobo Jones and the Junkyard Dogs and an Endorse It In Dorset supergroup before watching a closely fought game where England took the honours winning 6-4. The game was even watched by WaterAid presidentPrince Charles from the stage. Unfortunately post match entertainers Supernova had to cut their set short as the Festival

Accidental discovery

Went to the doctors yesterday as my flu from Glasto is still around three weeks later and wanted to check it wasn't aan infection what needed anti biotics. My real doctor wasn't available so saw the consultant - told i have no fluid on lungs or infection and that the coughing fits are probably down to not smoking increasing my suceptability to hayfever! Anyway I mention that i haven't had any news on the MRI yet - she has her computer monitor facing me as she does a search - seems the spe

a legendary festival

This year's Glastonbury Festival has all the makings of becoming the stuff of legend. Sunday's line-up is topped by Stevie Wonder who draws what has to be the biggest crowd ever assembled in front of the Pyramid to see his singalong set of hits and feel good numbers to "celebrate" Glastonbury's 40th Anniversary. Wonder had the masses in rapture when he brought event founder Michael Eavis on to the stage saying, "I want to thank this wonderful man who's had this for 40 years. Yes, 40 years. It

been a while I think I'm number obsessed - had woman flu (it just goes on and on and on) since Guilfest, then WOMAD, and now Endorse It - weather's looking good for that - touch wood. Broken a long bow and bought a new since my last post - currently have one - Grand Master Bowman score - need three to get the classification - and going to enter the County Champs - if i do well then County Squad beckons!!! Not bad for someone doing it just over a year. Lookin' forward to Beautiful Days - Z is gon

118 118

Ah so today is the first of Jan 08 - or 118 as has been rattling about my head all day. The end of December rushed up over me and gave me little time to post. We had our work's Xmas do at the races - where I won enough to get very drunk on alcohol, but not enough to show more than a tenner to K the next morning to justify my huge hangover. Work continued a pace and I completed half my workload for January to give the lads a chance to train someone new up. Then suddenly it was panic pressie bu

..Get what you need!

Ahh heard from the hospital - I have an MRI on Tuesday morning - couldn't come too soon. Getting a bit fed up of the dizzy spells, stars before the eyes and the intense pain that can't be controlled with lots of ibropofen! I'm currently highly worried the two acts I've most wanted to see Rolling Stones and Yusuf Islam will be missed either cos I'm dead or cos they call me in for surgery (fortunately this is the NHS we are talking about doubt much will happen til after Shambala. That's dizzy as a
