Last night saw the annual Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition Finals take place in Pilton with the shortlist of 8 acts performing short showcases to compete for the three prizes on offer.

Festival founder Michael Eavis announced the overall winner was Marie White (pictured above) who is rewarded with a Pyramid slot, and the runners-up were Che Lingo, and Swimming Girls.

It was also announced that all of the finalists who competed in last night's competition - the others were Iiola, Liines, Roma Palace, Shunaji, and Yamaya - will be given the chance to perform on a stage somewhere at this summer's Glastonbury Festival.

PRS for Music Foundation partnered with the Emerging Talent Competition again this year, which meant that as well as winning a slot on one of the Festival's main stages, the winner of the competition was also awarded a £5,000 prize, and two runners-up were also awarded a cash prizes.

This year's competition entrants were all musicians not signed to a major label, based in the UK and Ireland. The finalists had been selected by 30 music bloggers from thousands of entrants, and last night also included performances from LIINES, iiola, Yamaya, Roma Palace, and Shunaji.

Glastonbury Festival has been running the competition to find the greatest Emerging Talent for the last decade. Previous competitions have brought bands like She Drew The Gun, Declan McKenna, Izzy Bizu, Shields, M+A, Bridie Jackson and The Arbour, Treetop Flyers, London Afrobeat Collective, Ellen and the Escapades, We Have Band, Golden Silvers, The Subways, Stornoway, and Scouting For Girls to Festival prominence.

eFestivals will have reviews and pictures of all the competing acts online shortly.
