Lead singer of Arcade Fire, Win Butler, appeared on Jo Whiley's Radio 2 show, yesterday and gave hints that the band could be in the UK to play next year's Glastonbury Festival. You can hear the interview 1.16 in on the broadcast (here).

At 1.45 into the programme Butler hints that the band don't want to be burnt out and phony by appearing all over the place in the summer, "If we book a show it's because we want to be there."

In reply to being asked if they will return to the UK for festivals next summer, which he describes being a "special experience" the frontman reveals it was a possibility.

Asked if he could give any hints as to which events they might play, the frontman said, "I bought my son his first Paddington Bear the other day." Explaining, "These are wellies you're going to need them a lot."

Win then says his six month old son asks, "what are wellies?" Win replies "Well in some places it rains all summer, and it  becomes a pile of mud, but people still have to go outside  because it's summer time."

Arcade Fire last appeared at Glastonbury Festival in 2007 playing the sunset slot on the Friday on the Other Stage of a very wet year. eFestivals has heard that the band may be being lined-up to headline the Friday on the Pyramid Stage but the information is not strong enough for us to bet our house on it.

Next year's sold out event will run for five full days from  Wednesday 25th until Sunday 29th June 2014 across over a 1,000 acres of countryside at Worthy Farm, Somerset. As ever, entry includes a free programme. Once again, the Festival will be raising more than £2 million in funds for Oxfam, Wateraid, Greenpeace and a host of local charities and causes.

No acts are confirmed as yet. As usual eFestivals will bring you the very best-sourced rumours, allowing festival-goers to see who is playing long before the bands are formally announced - keep your eyes on the Glastonbury 2014 rumours, updated as we receive information.
