Reef are confirmed to headline the Friday night of Galtres festival which takes place over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Reef
The Glastonbury based band will headline the opening night at this year's Galtres Parklands Festival, joining Maximo Park, The Stranglers and The Undertones as headliners. Galtres Festival goers can expect feel good hits including 'Place Your Hands', 'I've Got Something To Say', 'Come Back Brighter', 'Naked', and 'Good Feeling' from their three top-ten albums.

"This is a great addition to our line-up," said festival director James Houston. "Everyone knows Reef's party favourite Place Your Hands Up which wreaked havoc in the charts and tore pop music apart for a few weeks. But the sheer brilliance, thrill factor, smileability and scream-along choruses of Reef's extensive repertoire make this rock. Not just rock though, the finest British rock and roll to emerge in an age," said James Houston, festival director, "To me, Reef merge different styles very effectively that are usually very hard to pull off. The funk of The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, with the racous rock and vocals of The Rolling Stones or the Sterephonics, and the attitude of the nineties generation in Brit pop is one hell of a combination. The likes of 'Give Me Your Love', also throws in a bit of ACDC to the mix. This is pure rock and roll for a modern age, and Reef are probably one of the more underrated bands of the Brit-pop era, if not the nineties!"

The first acts confirmed are Saturday headliners Maximo Park, plus Holy Moly & the Crackers, Maia, Boss Caine, Counting Coins, David Ward Maclean, Horse Guards Parade, Littlemores, Ryan Spendlove, The Blueprints, The Talks, and Blackbeard's Tea Party. More than 100 bands will play Galtres Festival on seven stages with the Friday headliner yet to be unveiled.

The Galtres festival started out as a beer and cider festival that included local based musicians and has gone through a change over the last couple of years and is now considered more of a music festival that has some great locally produced beers/ciders on sale.

The family friendly festival will be taking place over three days this year on August bank holiday weekend, from Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th August 2013 at a new undisclosed location near York, in North Yorkshire.

An adult weekend ticket is priced at £90, child (aged 5 -15 years) tickets are priced at £20, a family ticket (2 adults and up to three children) is priced at £270. Day tickets are priced at £35 for Friday and £40 for Saturday or Sunday. A camping (per tent) ticket is priced from £10 to £40 depending upon size of tent.
