line-up announced for California's Coachella

The Stone Roses, Blur, The xx, The Postal Service, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, top the line-up for the three days of Coachella Valley Music Festival, California's twin weekend event.

Friday's line-up is topped by The Stone Roses, and Blur with support from Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Modest Mouse, Lou Reed, Jurassic 5, Grinderman, Bassnectar, Dog Blood (Skrillex & Boys Noize), Trent Reznor's How to Destroy Angels , Passion Pit, Tegan & Sara, Band of Horses, Beach House, Metric, Local Natives, Of Monsters and Men, Infected Mushroom, Japandroids, Divine Fits, Stars, Johnny Marr, Luciano, Wolfgang Gartner, Nicky Romero, Modestep, Tommy Trash, Thomas Gold, Shouting Matches, Dillon Francis, Four Tet, Aesop Rock, Alt-J, Jello Biafra And The Quantanamo School of Medicine, TNGHT, Jake Bugg, Earl Sweatshirt, Polica, Sparks, Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, Purity Ring, Lee Scratch Perry, DaM-FunK, DJ Harvey, Jamie XX, Seth Troxler, Youth Lagoon, Deathfix, C2C, Beardyman, Lord Huron, Palma Violets, 10 Echo, Skinny Lister, The Neighborhood, and Sam XL Pure Filth Sound.

For the second time next year Coachella will again be held over held over two consecutive weekends, with the line-ups expected to be repeated for each identical three-day span.

The dates for 2013 are confirmed as Friday 12th to Sunday 14th April for weekend one, and again a week later from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st April for weekend two.

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (aka Coachella) the three-day annual music and arts festival is held at the Empire Polo Fields in Indio, California, in the Inland Empire's Coachella Valley. The event features a wide choice of genres of music including alternative rock, hip hop, and electronic music as well as large scale sculptural art.

Tickets will be priced at $349 (approx £220) for general admission 3 day pass, including parking and camping. General release tickets will go on sale on Tuesday 29th January at 10am Pacific time.

The nearest airport is Palm Springs International Airport, 23 miles away. Car parking at the festival is free.
