According to The Mirror, here, The Rolling Stones are set to make a headlining farewell appearance topping the bill on Sunday night on the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury Festival after talks with festival organisers Michael and Emily Eavis.

The Rolling Stones
The newspaper says a source close to the band indicate that their appearance will be the final date in a "handful" of shows in Britain and America in 2013 celebrating their 50th anniversary before they bow out of the live arena.

The newspaper quotes sources close to the band as saying, "All four members have agreed that next year is the right time to have one final hurrah and put on the gig of their lives.

"It's a case of now or never, and obviously Glastonbury is the most important festival on the circuit. Everybody’s incredibly excited... it’s a final bow."

Rehearsals of the band at the end of last year included Bill Wyman playing with them, and so it looks as though he may be included as part of the line-up for their Glastonbury Festival appearance.

The band have only ever performed at a few festivals over their 50 years, and the last UK festivals they have performed at were The Isle Of Wight in 2007 and Knebworth Fair in 1976.

Glastonbury Festival took a year out this year, and would have been this week, it looks as though it would have been a muddy one. The festival will returnnext year from Wednesday 26th until Sunday 30th June 2013. There are no acts confirmed yet for 2013.
