Florence & the Machine, and Metronomy join Smokey Robinson, Dizzee Rascal, and Doves for this year's BBC Electric Proms.

Florence And The Machine
Film makers were invited to submit ideas for inventive and original short films inspired by tracks from Florence & the Machine, and Metronomy earlier this year. The successful commissions will be premiered at the BBC Electric Proms alongside performances from both bands in the Studio Theatre with Metronomy and Florence and the Machine taking the stage on Thursday 22nd October. BBC New Music Shorts were commissioned to be inspired by 'On Dancefloors' by Metronomy and 'Dogdays' by Florence and the Machine.

Festival Director Lorna Clarke commented, "The BBC Electric Proms will once again create exciting new moments in music with a range of international and homegrown acts all developing their performances specifically for BBC audiences."

They join a line-up that includes the previously announced Doves with The London Bulgarian Choir, Dizzee Rascal, The Heritage Orchestra and The Young Punx, and Smokey Robinson with BBC Concert Orchestra. The BBC Electric Proms festival will take place from Tuesday 20th to Saturday 24th of October 2009 at The Roundhouse and various venues around Camden, London. The idea for this event is to allow artists to perform something a bit different, whether it be a performance of rare tracks, a unique collaboration or a cross bridging of genres.

Smokey Robinson tickets are priced at £25, Doves tickets are priced at £20, and Dizzee Rascal tickets are priced at £20, they will be available to buy from 8am tomorrow, Wednesday 16th September and eFestivals will have links to buy them then. BBC New Music Shorts tickets are offered free by registering online – go to www.bbc.co.uk/electricproms for more details.
