  1. The weather can make the difference between a good festival and an amazing festival!! I'm praying for sunshine at Rockness...and would happily swap it for rain every weekend the rest of the summer!

Here's what's happened the past few years ....i think.

2007: SAT - really sunny, SUN - overcast but dry

2008: Sunny the whole weekend, i came home with a nice wee tan ;) (can remember coming out after seeing Simian and it was proper scorchio ! ).

2009: Dunno - i turned into a cripple that weekend due to too much of the bad stuff !

2010: FRI - wee bit of sunshine and dry, SAT - Cloudy but dry, SUN - rain until mid afternoon

    2011: ????????

  2. Ok, so as expected the new additions are not the best. But as weak as the depth of the festival is, my view is that u can only see one act at a time. There are a number of good acts in the line up so depending on the order i (avoiding clashes) it's maybe not as bad as everyone says.

Nothing else they can do. They have delivered what they think the public want... Perhaps us RN regulars are no longer target audience.

Here's to making the best out of what you got!!

  3. We could just make the announcement ourselves. :)

Who do we know is going that hasn't been officially confirmed so far?

    I make it-

    Saint Saviour

    Gary Beck

    Carl Craig

    Beardyman

    Benji Boko

    Broken Records

    Drunken Balordi

    Anyone I've missed?

  4. As I (and many) have said before, the line-up is not very strong. My outrageous theory is that the promoters are also aware of this fact (perhaps they have just got it wrong this year?) and that's why they continue to stall with the announcements. I think the majority of punters are hoping for a big announced, or at least a stronger depth of acts to justify their ticket purchase.

Bearing in mind the advertising posters have been printed, I do not think this boosting announcement will happen, and the promoters know this so they are holding off and holding off and trying to make us think something will come (sell a few more tickets based on the 'what might' be announced basis) when in truth, they know that when that final announcement drops and punters find out 'that's it', they will choose another festival...

... Which has just sold out leaving the punter with, well, probably still RN as tickets will surely remain! Clever!

That's just my theory tho! :)

  5. Melt! festival in Germany always has an incredible line-up. Roughly same size as RN, and sited in an open air museum. The place come alive with lights at night and is stunning, easily best festival I've been to. Melt! is the festival RN should inspire to be like.

Friendly flights from uk to Berlin and an hours train journey to just outside Leipzig.

A must do festival at some point in your life. It's number 3 for me this year!
