  1. 20 people trying, no luck. Only needed one for my OH after their post code was screwed up in the main sale. Looks like I'm camping alone this timeΒ πŸ˜”. Devastated in the Beaver89 home today.

OK so as of 09:00 Monday this is the current state of the "sets" on iplayer...

    Β

    I've done get_iplayer --prefs-add --TV=FHD,HD --radio=320,192,96 --output=c:\iplayer

    Β

    Then its get_iplayer --url xxxxxxxxxx

I've only worked out two to do drag and drop individual URLs for this, can you help me? Where do these lines of code get entered? into he module itself or into command/DOS?

I've only ever managed to get 720P and would like to get higher quality so guessing this code would work for that. What is the recursive line to grab everything?

Also is there a way to wipe the history so it doesn't block re-downloading stuff for this fresh run I want to do? (I've already bashed through a fair bit overnight)

Any ideas of the 0.5% thing top left? Going sober this year so on the look out for low/no alcohol drinks (aside from softs)

Not been to a completely dry Glastonbury before, does it ever turn into a complete dust bowl? Boomtown last year obliterated my throat for weeks afterwards. Was like razor blades every time I swallowed.Β

Yes it does. I remember getting back from 2010 thinking I had a really good suntan. It all washed off.

Best keep your throat well lubricated. πŸ˜‰Β

Ok, I’ve read this thread for soooo long and I have found the courage to out myself and ask…

    where are these forecasts from?

what do you mean by gfs, β€œthe finger”??!!

    whats 18z, 6z, 12z?

Any other acronyms I should be aware of? I’ve been around long enough to understand NFR NFC… been coming since 2008 😳😳

    Β

I'm in a similar boat but have worked out a fair bit (enough) to keep up - just.

NFRNFC stands for No Rain, No Compromise. A long standing in joke.

Most other acronyms are the different weather modelling agencies from the UK and beyond. Unsure of the which is which but they each have different ranges and biases so essentially when they start to agree with one another then you can be more certain of it. The GFS gets a lot of coverage as it seems to be the longest range of the ones included here.

06Z, 12Z etc is simply the different runs of the GFS. It runs 4 times a day - can't remember what times. I think the latest is 23:30. I don't know how they differ beyond distinguishing which run in the day they are.

That's my non-weather-person attempt and what I've deduced from reading this delightful chaos. I'm probably wrong.

Edit: Oh and I think the finger relates to the high pressure coming up from Europe / Africa. As I understand it high pressure = hot / dry.

Some people are a little concerned about what will happen on Friday. Let's see what the O6Z tells us!

    THROUGH TO GATES OPENING

This run tracks with the 00Z in suggesting less rain on Sunday that we'd seen in previous run. Good news.

The bad news? The Tuesday rain is back in this run through the afternoon to the early evening, but not heavy rain.

Completely dry when the gates open, temps of 18.

    image.thumb.png.6b00ba6fa4a1c1c836a8cd84c6cbb2cf.png

Wednesday itself is effectively dry on this run, and an improvement on the 00Z. Highs of 21.

    THURSDAY

The danger of light rain has returned for the afternoon. But again, this is light stuff. Highs of 21.

    FRIDAY

Effectively a completely dry day. The blue shown here would be like being dripped on by a tap. Highs of 21.

    image.thumb.png.85af6e65a0db50fd259b5c9dd241a6d9.png

    SATURDAY

Very small showers of rain. Highs of 21.

    Β

    SUNDAY

    Completely dry, highs of 22.

    SUMMARY

***I'm off to Arctic Monkeys now, so there won't be another detailed update today***

We always knew there was likely to be a wobble, and it was almost certain to come with the 06Z - it's the run which has regularly provided a little downgrade or something to be scared of. But if this is the wobble we get, with a small amount of rain added on a few days, we can take that.

With temps remaining at 21 throughout, it's always comfortable.

This run doesn't have the high coming in and taking control, and that means there is a little more rain around (it really isn't much) and temperatures don't soar.

There is a long, long way to go yet! There is a lot of uncertainty about what happens from Friday onwards. It could yet be finger-tastic.

Well this run looks like a pretty standard year overall really, doesn't it?

    13 days out folks.

This is absolutely horrendous. Really worrying.

All of the forecasts are predicting a total f**king washout.

I've not got on the weather hype train yet so this was pretty much the first thing I read and was suddenly concerned as to what I've missed or don't know. Then the suspicion came in and I knew I'd seen this tone before. Sure enough checking the user handle confirmed I was correct. Love it.

  8. Au contraire re drinking less: I find the beer / cider becomes medicinal for sore feet more and more sas the weekend goes on!

Beyond that others have covered it: good footwear and sit down as often and you can - especially early on in the weekend when you don't think you need it. Think of it as drinking plenty of water and eating well before a big night out - it pays dividends!

    Saturday Park headline

    Saturday/Sunday Temple TBA - 03:00 to 04:30

    Sunday Greenpeace TBA - 15:30 to 17:00

On that Temple slot, do we know it's that one and not the one before Haai B2B I Jordan? Is there word on the 12-1.30am slot on Saturday?

  10. What's our minimum page quota for it to drop? I feel like we are seriously lagging.

But then I'm probably still scarred by the year they released it within a week of the gates opening. Thankfully it was a long time ago. 2011 fest? It gave birth to the idea of the Thingy for the 2013 run up though.

Radio 2 had a best of Glastonbury show on last night and Elton John is on today as a special guest talking about Glastonbury.

To be fair, if the media circus is revving up, it is a good sign

One will be met on here with a general "meh but good idea", the other will generate loads of debate.

    Good idea: Tenacious D

Debate worthy: Legend slot has moved from 4pm (idk really but I imagine this would generate heat for some reason or other)

  13. Not a big fan but don't mind it. I'm usually busy on Eurovision night and get home in time for the last acts and scores but tonight I have naff all to do and the Mrs is away. I think it'll be that on the TV, Breath of the Wild (which I realised this week I need to finish) on the Switch and some decent food - that's an otherwise aimless evening sorted! But what to eat...? (not Scouse!)

I shall of course be taking up my usual position of cheering for nil-point.

  14. It's so tough isn't it! There is no right way and everyone is different. I had a continuous run from 2008 to 2016 then failed to get tickets for 2017 when two acts I'd been patiently waiting for years to play finally did (Foos and Radiohead) and 2019.

I'm firmly in the camp of immersing yourself in the coverage. The idea of it going on and not being involved at all is far worse to me than not going. It is just a different way to enjoy the biggest musical cultural event and best garden party on earth. Is it the same, no. of course not. But it is its own type of fun. It even has benefits: no walking between stages, no clashes and guaranteeing a good view. I think it was Killers > Chic in 2017 this was most appreciated - watching everyone leg it while I pressed two buttons. Then there is not getting wet if the weather is bad and getting to sleep in a proper bed of course.

Treat it like 2020 - get your drink of choice in, some decent food - takeaway optional, reduce the clash finder to just the stages on stream and fill it out as you would to plan your weekend, crank top the volume (being careful of the little one) and enjoy it for the different way of experiencing it that it is. You could even get a couple of wristbands from eBay for a couple of quid! (we did this in 2020 - we had wristbands, a box of cider bus cider with paper cups - it was fab!).

Ultimately, remember you are missing it for your little one. One day you will be taking them with you and sharing the magic. This is just the first chapter of that story.

  15. Hey,@Neil. I was doing a thing with the lineup and used your page as a start to save typing it out from scratch, noticed a few were missing. Might be due to your method or other reasoning but thought I'd raise just in case they were missed. It must be such a tedious job each year?

Cable Street Collective, The Damned and Freya Ridings seem to be missing and Far From Saints need updating to Confirmed and against Avalon.Β
