  1. Vango Alpha range is inner pitch first design, if you can afford it, the outer-pitch first Sigma range is better.

I've got the Vango Simga 300+ with two entrances, so that I can get a nice cross-flow of air to prevent tent-oven.

However, I've got my eyes on a Quechua tent. I just need to make the trip to Decathlon Canada Water, hopefully after my exams in May.

I did email Decathlon about mail-order, they replied that they have plans for a central warehouse, and when that is installed they hope to offer a mail-order service!

  2. Ideally if two of you are going you need to get yourself a 4 man tent with a bit of a porch. A two man tent will be enough room for two people lying down and nothing else! In my opinion you should go for a dome tent, you posted a link to a tunnel tent which requires guy ropes to keep it up, not ideal at a festival! A dome tent is sturdy and easy to pitch and doesn't need guy ropes (unless a hurricane comes in!). I would also go for outer pitching first. I'm sure Vango and Coleman tent pitch inner first which means that if it's raining you are pitching the inner bit of your tent (which won't be waterproof) in the rain so it's going to get soaked!

I have a 4 man tent all to myself and I have the GELERT TORNADO 4. It is a doddle to pitch and I would happily share mine with somebody knowing I have enough room. The porch is big enough for wellies, boots, booze etc.

It is outer pitching first and takes me, on my own, about 10 minutes. No guy ropes required.

  3. 2 of us going

id spend up to 80 i rekon on a 2 or 3 man

just want a decent tent thats not guna be a pile of rubbish - tht does wht a tent should- keep me dry, not blow away in the wind lol but i dnt know wht to get, seen a few vango and coleman ones too???

  4. i think theres some other threads on here about rucksacks but

im travelling on coach so need to pack relatively light and think rucksack will be the easiest way to carry stuff straight to a campsite of choice!!!

not sure what size to go for though...... i will be taking the obvious things firstly, wellies, light tent, sleeping bag, mat which ive just bought-quite light, rolls up and wil prob stick on outside of bag......erm walking boots, all the hygiene essentials, soooome booze but thts guna be limited....ok and my main luxury is gona be clothes lol prob be wanting to take a few outfits,a dress etc lol as i like to pick and chose depending on the day... ther will be other things in ther of course(small towel blah blah blah u know).......... so does anyone have any idea wht type of size- do i go all out and get a 100L or will i struggle to carry it ? 80L? 85L?

will one at about 30quid be good enough?

    hit meeee with it!!!

    cheers-again!Sophie

  5. I've got the alpkit mat and I've used a thermarest before too, although not the one in the pic. The alpkit one is just as comfy as the thermarest mat. If you are looking for a mat that will last years and years then go for the thermarest, I don't think the alpkit would last more than a couple of years. BTW I've used alpkit a few times and they are great at getting things out to you quickly and the price includes delivery. Self inflating mats are a lot more comfortable than those foam mats you can get, but I guess it all depends on the amount of time you are going to spend sleeping on the thing!
  6. so ive been reading through another thread about sleeping mats and these self inflating ones and cant reach a decision. can anyone say which would be the best?

    this http://www.outdooraction.co.uk/acatalog/TH...TE_REGULAR.html

    or this http://www.alpkit.com/shop/cart.php?target...category_id=253

    or the gelert ones?http://www.campmania.co.uk/Item-2-36-cat-0-brand-459-Gelert_Xpedition_Self_Inflating_Mattress.aspx

these were all recommended but not sure which would be best

    thanks!!
