So... 6 months on, now it has had time to nestle a little firmer into the memory banks, how do people view Elton's set?

I didn't comment on the thread at the time but I really enjoyed it, probably more than I expected to. I've enjoyed a fair few other Pyramid headliners more (I don't think anything will ever top the Stones for me) but yeah... it was pretty spectacular.

Probably not my favourite ever Pyramid headliner (hello, Blur) but definitely top 5. I knew at the time it'd be my last Glasto, at least for a while, and it was a f**king awesome set to go out on. Had all the things. The man played a blinder.

Thinking a bit more on this I can't see how they had any choice but to put the sale off, since most people arrange to buy in groups of six, a single missing reg. would cause the whole  booking to fail, you would then have to make the decision to buy without that person or try to substitute a 'reserve', what if it was a couple and one had a reg. and one not? they would have to drop out, it would have been absolute carnage and far worse publicity.

This. One of our groups lost out entirely due to one member giving the incorrect postcode. By the time we sorted it, sold out.

  3. The salacious headlines are a bit meh and open to interpretation. But there are less dramatic allegations in that lawsuit that are absolutely abusive and were directed personally by Lizzo. Several players not involved in the lawsuit have stuck their heads over the parapet to back up the dancers.
Her statement was dire. Absolutely feckin’ terrible.
And I’m really sad about it all.

    In the Kidz Field.

I'm sure a buzzing by the RAF is a semi regular occurrence at Glasto.

I also reckon that the RAF need no permission from Glasto about where they fly!

Probably just tell them to keep the choppers out the way.

Yeah, it's happened loads of times. I assume Glasto often falls on a weekend that they're out and about for a show.

Airport, Cameron Toll or Dreghorn work best out of the Travelodge’s please. Will most likely get the train up but small chance we’ll fly.

In terms of public transport access to and from gig, I'd rate them in the order you've got them.

  6. I've done 12 over 20 years. Every year since '17 has been "my last" but this time I do feel at peace and able to stick to it.

I physically and mentally coped better this year than I have in forever. I'm fitter. Nothing went wrong. Even the sh*tty bits (shoutout to the gate A zig-zags on Wed morning and the hellish heat) were easier this time purely cos I've had it so much worse before. And I think it's gonna be a long (long) time before there's another Moment like Elton's set. It's time.

  7. Aside from the construction of actual towers, I doubt it’d take very many more person-hours. The problem Glasto have with the stripping of these vehicles is it would appear more organised than the smash and grab of old. If they do nothing it’ll be twice as bad next year cos it’s now a known soft target. I believe catalytic converters are a highly sought after thing that are in many cars. (I am an eternal passenger and not at all car-minded but my mate had their something-something nicked amid an intense spate of it here and I feel like the “cat” sounds right 😅)

  8. Axl sounded much better than I expected him to while I was actually there. From what's been said, I'm not going to mess with the fun I had by watching it back.

  9. I was at Kelis and the crowd only went up to the tower but was lively, I left and cut through Wizkid - crowd barely reached the tower and didn't seem to have a vibe.

I dunno if I festivalled smarter or the stewarding/scheduling was just better but it definitely felt much less chaotic this year.

  10. 13 year old me would throat punch me for saying it but Rick Astley was genuinely brilliant. He should be in that slot (or maybe Fri opener?) every year.

Edit: and if Avalon haven't tried to snag him as a headliner next year, they're sleeping.

  11. I've been the 'friend of' who camped in family camping. The first year we did it, the youngest were about 8mo and 2mo. At that age, many hands make light(er) work and they're more pass-around-able and able to be amused by festival family. Once they're older, the friends are a lot less use and just kinda taking up space, imo.

  12. I don't think anything needs done at all. The point of the flags (as far as I can understand anyway) is to see yourself/have others see you on tv. When there are so effin' many that you fade into obscurity, it defeats the (assumed) purpose and is then just a ballache. I think it'll naturally die out.

  13. Went with the intention of bailing to Fatboy at the Park. I stayed and I loved it and I might have shed a tear to November Rain. Slash is a god and Axl seemed more human and less bellend than I assumed id find him.

  14. I’ve come across some weird stewarding. Eg those leaving Foos by top path towards Woods being directed to join the bottom path. Felt like a way to create a hellish pinch (and I cheerfully ignored them cos I ‘live’ on the top path and wasn’t taking a nonsense detour just to grab my hoody). I assume it made sense on paper. And at least there IS active stewarding, unlike last year, I guess.
