It can be simultaneously true that:

    1) In isolation each of the acts is plenty big enough / suitable for their allocated in slots

    2) In combination it does look pretty stale and homogeneous

    3) Thinking 2) doesn't mean you think there were better options open to the booking team

    4) It's totally alright to laugh at all the old white men playing their old rock music at a festival in 2023.

    This is it exactly

The shutting down like "no one else was available, deal with it" is a bit weird on a festival forum based entirely on idle speculation 😂

  2. Would love to know if Emily asked her to come back and she said no, or if she's just a one and done in the festivals eyes (if so that's a shame as she's released some absolute art since 2011)

Not sure on that, Four Tet is subbing Boardmasters i think (or maybe second stage headliner) which has a similar daily capacity.

They had Bicep last year who did WH and Four Tet was on the park too for a glasto comparison

Years and Years subbed other which is i guess similar to WH headline - so Four Tet is just a good booking (as always!)

But then Four Tet is selling out multiple Alexandra Palace gigs too, I suppose maybe he's just happy playing anywhere really - what a guy

  4. Bit gutted I've got a Saturday ticket, as Sunday is a bit more stacked for me. Usually do two days but after last year when the Sunday was abandoned by us I think I prefer smashing one day out and then saving the multiple days for Glasto and the like.

Love Saves the day lineup might be quite relevant as they now run Silver Hayes?

Will be there as I go every year but it's quite strange, there's loads of depth in the undercard but some strange placings. Would have said Four Tet is a headliner outright!

  6. Such an absolutely cringe booking that feels bizarre coming from Emily who is normally right on the pulse (IMO), but at least it sounds like Guns get the significance of it - I hope they do well for those that will be there.

Yeah I think the Actual Life series will remain a trilogy, and he’ll move on to something different next that could potentially push him to greater heights.

Also it’s a bit of a self own to those saying his music is majorly downbeat and boring, yet look at the hype he’s created with those projects. A more focused, commercial release could definitely push him to Pyramid headline heights.

I think he's got an album with Brian Eno coming out that is similar to AL, but then said he's going to take a break before releasing any more within that framework, so it'll be interesting to see what comes next.

Am I the only person who didn't really enjoy the Macca set?! I was so looking forward to it as well, but for me it was a classic example of - it doesn't matter who is on stage, it's the people around you.

It was the only time during the whole festival where it felt like we were surrounded by people moaning.... it was like being in a crowd with a load of head teachers. One woman was moaning about people pushing past to get closer to the front. We were like...it's a festival, it happens. She said "in all my years of coming I've never seen behaviour like it" - honestly what a wolly. It was the most tame crowd ever.

Anyway, we were just in the wrong spot clearly but we ended up leaving and going to Arcadia where we had one of the funniest nights ever and made friends for life (even though we dont know their names and will probably never see them again, you know how it goes 🤣

I wasn't feeling it either, not because it wasn't good, but I think Caribou put me in the mood to go and have more of a dance so we did half an hour and then saw a bit of Megan then had a mooch around for bevs and popped in and out of random stalls/stages etc, before Four Tet on Arcadia. Probably my favourite night in the end. When you're not feeling something you have to make that executive call and most of the time it feels like it works out.

Kendrick had me absolutely transfixed though.

So this is what I’m thinking - Jan edition!

Predicting an all male top line (3 male headliners + male fronted legend). I think this year will be a cock fest.

Pyramid Headliners - Arctic Monkeys, Guns N’ Roses, Elton John

    Legend Slot - Pulp

Pyramid Subs - Doja Cat, Lewis Capaldi, Queens Of The Stone Age

Pyramid Thirds - Royal Blood, Lizzo, Lil Nas X

Other - Sam Smith, Halsey, The Prodigy

West Holts - Skrillex, Loyle Carner, FKA TWIGS

John Peel - Maggie Rogers, Fred Again, Pusha T

Park - M83, Franz Ferdinand, Sigur Ros

Not hugely into many of the stage headliners but there's a lot to love on the undercard - FKA, Muna, Rina, M83 etc. Would love this tbh.

By the same people that brought you the too progressive coachella 2023 lineup. Here is New Orleans Jazzfest to being it home for the other folk

Lots of big fuckin vibes in here

Probably the only time in history Ne-Yo has been billed next to Tom Jones though hahaha

I'm not sure you are in the minority to be honest I think plenty of people here (me included) would find 1975 headlining the Friday this year over Artic Monkeys to be a better/more exciting booking

Yeah, feels like a ball dropped moment to me

Funnily enough, so did some of my friends who weren't crew.  I wonder if they opened it up to the public in the end?  It was definitely a crew bar though as the photos I posted were on the Monday before gates opened.

Haha well that's a great little ending to the story, post festival we were like "what on earth was that tube train stage? It was amazing!" but couldn't quite remember the exact details

    Only at Glasto ❤️

    Yes, same place as 2019.

I may be misreading this, but that was a crew bar (the tube train and the tent with the disco ball next to it)?

We found ourselves in there on the Sunday and had a fantastic time but definitely weren't crew or working the festival.

Imagine the state of that Pyramid field on Sunday if it was Spice Girls

The crowd would be utterly enormous, particularly with the curiosity and nostalgia factor

    Some scattered thoughts:

    • Booking Bad Bunny and BLACKPINK to headline is awesome. I would love to see Bad Bunny in the UK but everyone here loves to boast about how they've never heard any of his songs 😞
    • Is Frank going to be releasing new material, or just playing the same setlist as 6 years ago? Cool booking in theory, but even if he does play I wonder whether it could be a little underwhelming.
    • Subs are stacked. Rosalia! Burna Boy! Chems! Gorillaz! Bjork!
    • Um, Jai Paul? Am I reading this right?? Not a big fan myself, but that's a pretty big get.
    • Knocked Loose are going to be the next hardcore breakout act after Turnstile.
    • Undercard below the biggest acts feels pretty weak. No idea if any of the following are touring outside of US this summer but would love to see MUNA, Weyes Blood, The Breeders, Soul Glo, and Horsegirl.

This is what I wanna know as well. He could either have nothing new or suprise drop an entire album tomorrow, you just never know with him.

Calvin needs to bring him out for Slide though (probably extremely unlikely but it would be a moment)
