    There are always some good late night music options and you are right it is a lot easier to navigate compared to the logistical and stamina challenges of Glasto after hours.

    If you are into House/D&B/Techno then you are likely to find an option each night after hours...but probably not to expect that there are lot's of different options every night like Glasto where you are spoilt for choice.

    Your best bet is probably going to be the sunrise arena, seen some really good people there, that is where you are most likely going to see "proper" electronic music.  The other late night stuff is probably going to be a bit cheesy for your tastes I reckon (The comedy tent is usually Guilty pleasures, Ultimate Power type things, the woods usually has a mix of stuff but again pretty mainstream mix of stuff, disco shed is pretty random).  Good fun.... but it isn't "cutting edge".

    Also, to set your expectations it doesn't go as late as Glasto, more like 03:00am I think for the main late night areas miiiight be some stuff that is a bit later but I've not done that late.  The crowd is sometimes a bit...Latitude....which is to say, you might wonder whether the majority of the audience have ever been to a proper nightclub before.  Last year there was a lot of people doing an "oot oot" chant in the tent which got really annoying really quickly.

    I do want this to come across as balanced because I have had some fantastic nights with friends at Latitude to dance music + it can feel like an old school rave in the woods if the music, weather and crowd is right.

    Ha Thanks G.O.H!.. - that an excellent summary.I Did have a little laugh at your "Latitude" crowd point!.I had heard similar comments from mates that have been before.I fancied a break from Glasto this year and my fam couldn't get tickets anyway, so we looked for something that was  closer to home and less of a pilgrimage. Ill keep my ears and eyes open  for that "old school rave!" (;

    Usually announced close to the festival but probably all the usual late night stuff, they've been doing a lot more surprise guests doing DJ sets recently

    Thanks Chappie - my first latitude after 10 years of Glastonbury - where the late night area can be a bit tricky to navigate at the best of times.I spotted that latitude run their sound systems til the morning - so hoped for some house/techno/dnb.I see they booked Dave Seaman,Darren Emmerson and Danny Howells last year - which would have ticked my prog house boxes quite easily at least. Ill keep my fingers crossed - Lets see?They dont need to go far to find cutting edge DJ,s in the area.I went to Maui Waui festival last year and they had loads of local talent.

  3. looking forward to it myself.I have been going to glastonbury for  ten years but always enjoy smaller festival.More chilled.

    Weather has been crazy recently - went from uncomfortably hot here to downright chilly in about three hours.LF has got some seriously big tents though- were gonna be alright.

    Im packing for Cornwall right now- leaving in 6 hours!

    So there is obviously a month long heatwave about to begin!

    Converse for me this year, I have complete faith the weather is going to be perfect!

    Broke my feet so bad with converse in 2008 i bought 2nd hand boots off (think it was banana joe's) in order to walk again.

    never again.decent wellies - boots that ive worn in and decent trainers.

    Converse have no soles.

  6. yep - Ive had a love hate relationship with them over the years.Intresting how people differ on their albums.

    I think I would say they have grown on me.

    Never liked "the best of you" and probably never will.

    "Everlong" , "Come Alive" or "learn to fly" would make me very happy at the end.

  7. Followed them since the 90s.

    Well written and performed rock music perfected by excessive rehersal and live gigs.

    They will play thier hearts out - and clearly recognise the Pyramid stage for what it is.

    Im just worried about getting a good view with my 19 year old daughter who is also a huge fan.

    For a good sampler- have a listen to Echoes,Silence,Patience  and Grace.Its ranges in style from delicate reflective acoustic pieces to full throttle  rock.

  8. Cooking  brekki on my stove for the family one morning i (guessed) the tent right next to me was being used as a loo.This is totally gross.Theres no other way to put it.I decide not to mention it to the rest of my group as I knew it would spoil thier food.

    I'm sure all my work colleagues think I get blackout drunk 24/7 and take all the substances in the world (far from it, I don't take any ha!) and are always amazed I make it into work on the Monday. They have a funny perception of what goes on at the festival, mostly have a bit of gin and see as many bands as I can!

    Long time ago decided to tell work mates  nothing (unless i know them well enough ) as your always have assumptions made.If asked what my weekend was like will say ......"quiet" (;

  10. This - used it five years in a row.Roll your tent flooring back Stand in a bucket and your sorted!First year i had this my partner couldnt stop laughing.Next year she used it & had to eat her own words.

    AlunaGeorge placement is very odd. they haven't done much since their last album, the singles from the new album (which isn't out until September)) have performed very poorly. Explosions in the Sky are before them and Sigur Ros after. 2 similar acts with lots of mutual fans. should have swapped AG with EITS.

    M83 headlining JP with Fatboy Slim subbing is a bit odd, would make more sense for M83 to sub instead IMO. or even headline The Park that night (in between Mercury Rev and the Philip Glass/Bowie symphony thing). they could have easily moved Jagwar Ma or Kurt Vile into JP to make the room.

    I don't think BMTH's placement is that odd. their fanbase is overwhelmingly Kerrang kids in their teens/early 20s, hardly a significant amount at Glastonbury. they would have drawn a pitiful crowd if they were headlining. I thought sub, but 3rd isn't that strange either. they'll probably draw a better crowd there as less competition with headliners.

    Agreed.

    No disrespect to M83 - I like their music but I thought FBS closing JP would have been excellent move.

    Hi all, I've been meaning to stick this up here for ages, it is a photo taken at 2005s festival on I think the Saturday morning whilst wandering around the giant pond. I took the photo of my 2 friends and it wasnt until I got it back that I saw we had an extra addition to the shot!

    I remember taking the photo and have absolutely no recollection of him standing there, and he has no legs or body or shadow!

    I know logically he is standing behind them and their legs are hiding his legs by a very slim chance but it just looks funny! The way he is standing his pelvic area should be showing by the ladys (louise!) hand unless he has a very short body and very long legs, and hes standing at a bit of an angle so it just looks like you should be able to see at least some evidence he has a body!

    Does anybody know this child?! It confuses me every time I look at it, I sometimes wonder if I've stumbled across a glastonbury ghost! Hehe

    Anyway just thought I might share it with you guys hope u find it as funny as me :blink:
