I thought The Verve had a great run of singles. A fucking great run of singles.

    BSS, LM, TTDW.

    That's it though.

Was LM enough to miss most of their Glasto headlining set and get there just in time for those three. Drunk me got right into it.

But, having previously thought from reading interviews that RA was a bit of a dick, he went on to prove it to me by doing "our new single" as an encore. Ruined the vibe.

Like Adam Ant doing Apollo 9 at Live Aid.

Disagree. Love is noise at the end was well ace (I'd never heard it before).

I'm afraid of americans at the end of bowie's set on the otherhand....

    Nope.

Jez is in a bind whatever he does. I thought we were all agreed on that, long ago?

I'm merely pointing out that it's hard to see where Jez or Labour get an advantage via the clear difference that now exists.

If he succeeds in bringing down May's govt via this then all that really does is puts him in May's impossible shoes (Jez in high heels, now there's a thought i wish I'd not had ).

Anyone with half a brain can see it's the same cake-and-eat-it that May gave up on as impossible for the EU to grant - so Jez is going to have to move position again (if he were to get into no.10).

Which would only put him in an even greater bind than now. Just think how a compare with the speech he's just given would go when he's moved to a new position.  What's he going to abandon in taking that new position? The UK's 'say' or jobs or his policy programme or a big EU bill, etc, etc, etc?

Brexit is a crock of shit for anyone, not just the tories.

Most people dont have a clue about the differences between the single market, customs union, the EU, the EFTA, EEA etc. If his speech isnt met by howls of outrage from across the rabid leave voting regions, then maybe he can push things a bit further. Maybe this is just baby steps towards a commitment to stay in the SM, or some version of it under a different name. Or even to joining the EFTA (if they'd have us!).

I'm just glad he's doing anything at all. Of course you are probably right and there is no strategy at all apart from to stir up the tories. But at least he's given me a drip of hope.

Me, I reckon the tories will now be seriously considering letting Jez have no.10 as well as the shitty-stick called brexit.

Cos Jez can fail to deliver too, because it's not in his control just like it's not in May's control ... and a Jez-fail is likely to end up as a public endorsement for May's hard brexit.

The problem there are the timelines. If there was unlimited time I'd start putting money on that happening, but with limited time there's all sorts of extra problems in the mix, which ends up favouring the Mogg-tories. They only have to sit tight till next March and they've got their win, all enabled by Jez whipping for the a50 vote.

well I do hope you're wrong there!

Just need to sit tight tight and see the eu's treaty on wednesday. Things might come to a head after that.

    yet true, all the same.

Sturgeon says Corbyn's Brexit stance 'very similar to May's 'have cake and eat it' approach

apparently - so a scotsman told me - it's evil to speak the truth about what Jez said, so i guess that's the end of his SNP voting.

Yeah, we have to hope it's all part of jezzas plan to divide the tories though. He cant seriously believe the eu would agree to his scheme, because if he does then all the leaders are as clueless as each other, and we really are doomed.

  5. Very positive move by Corbyn I reckon, should widen the split in the tory party nicely.

The specific idea is complete nonsense and displays a fundamental lack of understanding of the EU of course, but it ratchets up the pressure on the tories and perhaps that cretin may will realise that pandering to the lunatic ultras will see the tories lose what little control they currently have.

As for wee niccy krankie's idiotic ramblings, they are completely and utterly irrelevant.

Already got my ticket, for £40 it's an absolute steal

After learning about the main stage being outdoors I do imagine tickets will end up going for cheap in the weeks before the event but I'd rather be safe in the knowledge I've got my ticket sorted and still get a bargain

I'm chuffed it's outdoors. I loathe gigs at ally pally

Got a little more info from them on FB; ""There will be a main stage in the park plus several other mixed stages both outside and inside with different programmes. Gates are 12.00 - 22.30."

    Seems good for £40

So the flaming lips will be playing outside rather than in the usual music bit of the palace? Ace if so, I'll be going for sure. Their usual ticket price is normally £40+!

Nah that album was a slow burn and aided by licensing every single song to TV and film. 2002/03 was the only time he coulda headlined.

Is exactly what I’m saying. :D

Ah fair enough, I cant really remember the specifics. But I can remember it feeling like quite a big deal at the time.

Whilst the tantrum royal loving twattery is all true... he hasn't half done some hits. If I only watched acts from people I like as a person I'd probably be restricted to Craig Charles & the Lancashire hotpots.

Is his voice fucked nowadays? I've no idea.

Royal sycophancy aside, Tiny Dancer is brill.

Moby's an anomaly cos he doesn't have a well loved catalogue or a consistent run of form / popularity - just one freakishly successful / ubiquitous album.  A one hit wonder, give or take a few other bits and bobs.

Yeah and I've just checked, Play was out in 1999 so he played 4 years past his peak. Definitely a weird one on reflection. I guess he should have played in place of skunk anansie or travis in 2000.

  11. He'd be comfortably the biggest arsehole ever to play the festival.

A tantrum throwing, royalist sycophant. The thought of this toadying fuckwit at glastonbury is nauseating.

Though I suppose he's the perfect act for the current crowd.

Moby is someone you’d have to notice at the time to identify as a headliner. Saying that though, they need more overbookings (zeitgeisty shunts up the lineup) than overbookings in the other sense (repeats, legacy acts doing all the festivals, etc).

However, I can’t believe Skunk Anansie were ever big enough. They must’ve known where the bodies were buried.

Moby was absolutely massive though at the time. Every man and his dog bought Play. Although maybe he was a couple of years past his peak when he played (Play was out in the 90s wasnt it?)

I listened to the bootleg of that set recently. I adored it at the time, but I fear it might actually have been a bit rubbish. I sacrificed Doves for that tit too.

Yeah, it's kind of hard to predict. Although you were confident enough to predict it was going to stay very low for a long time.

Good job I didn't believe either Alec's or your predictions.

But $70 is catastrophically low for the SNPs laughable plans. Just imagine if indy had won based on those fantasy economics......a chilling thought I'm sure you'd agree.

Even wee nicola krankie admits Scotland's finances are utterly fucked!

Ahh, I remember the days when Russy used to keep us informed of the latest oil price.

For some reason, he doesn't do that anymore.

Hey Neil, please note before you go on your customary rant that I am aware that this price rise will not generate massive tax revenues under the current fiscal regime. It may well safeguard jobs though which is the main benefit of north sea (&Atlantic) oil to the Scottish economy.

Of course, we are all agreed that it would be much better if we all left the black stuff in the ground. As far as I can see no oil producing country is considering that option.

The only oil producing country that ever comes in for criticism from Neil for this is Scotland, which is also the only oil producing country that doesn't have the power to stop production.

    I wonder why that is.

$70? But I thought Salmond assured all the indy voting drones that it would never fall below $110?
