  1. The fact that one of the festivals official twitter feeds said 'as usual the park is finishing early On Sunday' when we know this ISN'T usual says it all.

Something is afoot, probably AFP. Thom is still on site after all.

As my 11 year old daughter would say 'well jell'!

  2. Having seen the stones, still reckon there were about third less flags than those that almost blanketed the view entirely when I was there for Coldplay, Stevie Wonder and Blur.

I'm not sure how this been achieved as as far as I am aware there isn't a ban in force but for me its no bad thing. It was getting ridiculous.

Glad the fest is nearly over and I can begin winding myself up for t day in nearly 3 short months!

  3. Seem to be less w@nkers recording the performances on their smartphones this year too. Light has finally dawned on their marble heads that they'll never watch the videos again and the recordings will not represent their glasto experience - which will be all the worse for concentrating on holding a phone up rather than enjoying themselves.

  4. I've watched a few bands online today as 'live': superb really with none of the beebs bullshit editing or comment. Weird being able to flick between stages in an instant. A great service which I didn't know the beeb were providing: don't think this was available in 2011?

It's only a tiny percentage as enjoyable as being there of course but having been to several glastos and with a few grands worth of hifi equipment fired up, I feel able to judge how much better it would be, were I actually there in Pilton.

Based on this somewhat dubious assessment, I thought Peace, Goat and Alt-J were very good, Django Django however have been awesome.

  5. I feel all your pain. Been to 4 out of the last five glastos but suffered a similar epic fail last October- my first in ten attempts. Simple maths really: 2-3 million that were reportedly trying into 170,000 odd tickets available doesn't go.

Thing is though I've been taken ill and so couldn't go even if I'd got a ticket. I feel this is some kind of fate, like karma. Felt depressed after stupidly listening to worthy FM yesterday but consoled myself that I survived not going from 2002 - 2007 when I went again. Over the weekend I will console myself further helping newbies on twitter and these forums, getting a little wasted and watching the beebs overly sycophantic coverage.

Tickets permitting, I will return to hit Glasto harder than ever in '14- my tenth. Hope to see you all there.

  6. Not sure there are.

The one to the left of the other stage (as you face it) is from where I stupidly paid an exhorbitant amount for an awful beige arctics hoodie in 07. I was more than a bit the worse for wear!

Since then Ive always just bought the official gear from the festival website when i get home.....

  7. At glasto the music doesn't have to stop until the sun is well up at 6am but you have to pace yourself to a degree. I normally get my head down between 3 and 4 and do one really late night - possibly including sunrise at the stone circle. Weigh it up against what you will miss the next day and how you might feel.

Check out clashfinder for an idea of who'll be on in the south east corner - it's fairly comprehensive and you can quickly find out with a web search who the special guests were - usually big name DJ's or acts from the main stages that were on earlier.

In 2011, I enjoyed orbital, Carl cox, fat boy slim, 808 state, arlo, Justin Robertson, Stanton warriors and many others there. Apart from strummerville it's mainly different types of dance music but you'll have a great time exploring the madness - 'Eat the moving things'

  8. New Order/Joy Division

Was a pet shop boys fan when I was 12. Later, in '86, Neil Tennant was banging on about True Faith and I bought Substance on double cassette. Never looked back apart from maybe when I watched the PSB at Glasto nearly 25 years later!

    The Smiths

An ideal growing up band I was introduced to in '87 by a mate who gave me a 'best of' tape he'd got at boarding school. Realised they are my favourite band ever recently when listening to their remastered 'complete' box set. Never skipped a track once!

The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses.

Remember listening to them on John Peel's show. Bought the album, hammered it - possibly my favourite debut album of anyone - then went to my first major gig at spike island with my younger brother in tow. Awesome twelve months with the roses in '89/'90 which massively shaped my musical life.

Sasha & Digweed - Renaissance mix cd

At uni in Liverpool, the superclub Cream had just opened and mental nights out there along with this compilation really lit the blue touch paper for my ongoing love of dance music.

    Radiohead

Didn't get into them until '97 following their sublime Glasto performance. When the bends came out I guess I was still pratting about in Ibiza! Just love they way they have evolved their sound over nearly 20 years. Seen em over 10 times and as a live band they just get better and better.

  9. I find a berrocca and fruit does bugger all for the hangover - it's best to just get back on the booze bus and leave the pain till Monday. I do swear by industrial strength zantac and omeprazole though to combat the heartburn

  10. I don't tend to hit it heavy until the evenings most days at glasto, but I've normally constantly got a cider or beer in my hand once I am in the car parks tongue.png I find you have to find that happy place of constantly drunk but not out of it like say you would on a friday night tongue.png

Save the vodka/rum/spirits for after the headliners apart from a occasional pick me up in the morning tongue.png (Sometimes in the afternoon if I pass a bar like Bourbon Street..)

Also I drink fair bit of water like I would at home to, does mean I need a piss almost every time I go by a toilet. (And a pink of milk of a morning before the Bourbon!)

  11. Am I the only one who thinks Karma Police is one of their most boring songs? Not something I'd be fussed about seeing live.

In fact, I think the gig after the one I went to this year got Karma Police instead of Paranoid Android. I'd have been well gutted with that.
