  1. OK, I've already typed this post once and then deleted it because I want to make sure I say this right... I've had a little bonus at work and I can't think of a better way to spend it than on Solstice/Glastonbury. How about I put £50 into the taxi pot... no questions asked, no expectations, and certainly no gratitude looked for? This will bring the average cost down and if I don't do this I'll only waste it on drink and chocolate.

Gosh... really worried this is coming across wrong now and that I'm expecting everyone to say thank you blah, blah, blah. I'm not - I just know how tight things are right now and I'm in a luckier position than some

    love x

  2. I think recycling at Glasto is probably a bit harder than it ought to be. I always endeavour to put my rubbish in the appropriate bins, but lots of people can't be arsed, leading to the wrong stuff in the wrong receptacles and no space for you to recycle your gear.
  3. We'll be there too early Strudders and llcoolphil! Can't help with the lifts as Beth the Bus don't fit round some of the lanes by the Station - but we can be in the field with the kettle on for people as they arrive!!!

    :D:):(

  4. I cant remember who said it now, but it was a few pages back someone mentioned bringing tea/coffee and a stove to be able to have some on sun/mon/tues mornings.

Is someone bringing a stove, or shall I bring my Trangia?

  5. Serious question about scrambled eggs here

Our hens have gone into overdrive and we have a good couple of dozen, so I was thinking of bringing a HUUUGGGEE frying pan with me and making scrambled eggs (or I guess also fried eggs) on Sunday once we'd all had a nap. Would that be lovely or do we think actually we won't be arsed and will just go straight on to lunch type things at the pub??

    FFC x

p.s. asking because transporting loads of eggs is tricky task :D

  6. Gday all!

well my very first glasto adventure starts tomorrow. Getting the train down from Inverness, stopping off at york for 2 nights then meeting up with you lovely ppl on sat.

Just wanted to wish everyone happy and safe travels and I look forward to meeting you all!

  7. My husband and I aren't "legally married" - for us it wasn't as important to have our union state certified, so much as to have a ceremony that marked our commitment to one another. Having decided this it was then a simple decision to say let's have this ceremony at Glastonbury. So this is what we did on the Sunday in 2005.

I'm a pagan (my husband less so, but with pagan sensitivities) and we knew from many conversations with random strangers at Glastonbury over the years that there are plenty of pagans to be found in and around the Green Crafts area. So on the Wednesday morning we had a wander about and spoke to some people in the tipi field - eventually they pointed us in the direction of a lovely couple with a yurt in the corner of the field who agree to officiate at our ceremony. I have to say this couple were amazing - they even built a willow arch for us to walk through (so generous of them).

Come the morning of the ceremony we went around the festival and bought our rings, some bread from the Stoneage Bakery and a little hand carved wooden bowl in which to carry water. We wanted to symbolise the very essence of life that our union represented and bread & water seemed to do this (it also meant we had gifts for our lovely ceremony makers).

We then went with our two closest friends (who had come to Glatonbury) and had a beautiful ceremony. Our hands were fasted with sheep's wool locally dyed. It was a wonderful day and we can always say that Groove Armada played at our wedding party!

Sorry - I've been rambling haven't I? What I mean to say is that if you want a ceremony then you can certainly find people at Glastonbury who will help you make this happen. Take some time to talk to people around the Tipi Field and Green Craft field and they should be able to point you in the right direction. If a legal wedding is also important to you, you can always be inspired by Tallulah's great idea and get married in Glastonbury town just before.

    Good luck to you

    X

  8. I'll have a wander up the Tor during the day but I aint walking up no Tor when Im pissed. I doubt I'll be going up to see the sunrise either - I'll see one at avebury and one during the fest at the stone circle, how many do I really need to see?

    Miserable bastard I know!

  9. I've just been to the site that we're camping at for Solstice ... I live near by and were meeting my parents in a pub for lunch...

anyway, given that we live so close I imagine we'll be first on site on Saturday so we'll try and head up the far end where the field loops round in a little horseshoe shape and see if we can "claim" a bunch of pitches... that way we can try and camp in a group

when you arrive look out for us - blue VW campervan bus and (hopefully) a flag or two

if anyone is arriving at the train station around 12noon/1pm we can pick you up on route to the campsite. let me know - also anyone needing a lift from Newbury/Hungerford way on the morning??

  10. I understand my friends haven't received their tipi ticket yet but they're not concerned as they have an email from the people who organise the tipis giving them information on what to expect etc and so are clearly expected. The email seems to suggest there is some kind of 'booking in' system so perhaps that's when you get you ticket??
