  1. I've often wondered if demand really does outstrip supply by that much?

I've been going since 2003 and nobody in my group (average size of approximately 10) has ever failed to get a ticket - that can't solely be down to just luck?

Sure, we get organised and work as a team. Plus the info on this website tips the odds slightly in our favour but not by that much.

For the first time ever this year one of our group had to rely on the resale (although that was due to our cock up with the registration numbers), but even then we ended up with 4 out of a possible 5 of us getting the order screen up in time to by the 1 ticket we needed.

I might be wrong, but my impression is that the internet has made the demand seem a lot higher that it really is.

  2. Salt ice is better than normal ice. I don't know why exactly, but living in NZ and Oz, all bait shops and every fisherman use it for their eskys/chilly bins/coolboxes for keeping the fish cooler for longer.

  3. Sort of packing tips (ish, in the sense that packing becomes less of an issue)...

Queue for entry without any of your stuff (the worst bit imo) then go back to your car once you're in - you won't queue for re-entry.

If you have a lot of stuff take a truck or a wheelbarrow. Saves me a fortune because it means that I can take plenty of food & drink.

  4. I've read conflicting info on this but if Alabama 3 are playing a Saturday headline slot then that's my minor first world problem solved.

Failing that I quite fancy heading up to the Glastonbury sign and spend a couple of hours just watching the whole site at its peak of activity.

Headliners aren't great for me this year but the line up has the most depth that I've ever seen.

  5. See them loads and always, for me anyway, good.

No question of where I'll be Saturday night and hearing they are headlining is fab.

In fact I can me spending a fair bit of time in the Glade this year!

  6. I've seen them several times and they have been excellent every time bar one.

Nothing to do with Larry's vocals though, they just played a bit too much from MOR for my liking. They were touring the album though so I can't really complain.

  7. No specific recommendations because I've never used one but from what I've seen big inflatable tyres seem like the way forward.

  8. I had a cheap pair ok Karrimor walking shoes I bought just the dog and muddy country lanes. They were okay but despite having non slip soles every time it rained I could hardly stay on my feet.

  9. Once we're all set up, sit around drinking beers, getting giddy, reading the programme and generally recovering from the walk of doom from the car park before doing a snails pace 10 hours lap of the site that covers the cider bus, Brothers bar, chai tea in the greenfields, a new hat, stone circle and flagtopia.

Bloody love Wednesday, consistently the most chilled out day of the year (once the tent is up) :-D

  10. Getting a larger capacity one from Amazon seems like the way forward for anyone in doubt, but remember that these things are only about 70% efficient when working out how many charges you'll get out of it.

I.e. 7500 mAh will probably only charge a 2500 battery twice from flat.

Best battery saving tips are to switch off Bluetooth, wifi and (especially) mobile data when you're not using them.

Turn screen brightness down as much as you can and if you have a power saving mode - use it.

Constantly switching the phone on and off again uses a lot of power so airplane mode is a better option unless it's for long periods of time like over night.

Finally make sure Dropbox / Google+ auto upload features are turned off if you're using the phone as a camera as they will see you running out of juice in no time.

It's all a bit of a faff on iPhone but if you've got an Android nearly all of the above can be done quickly from the Notification area.

If you do all of the above most smartphones would probably last the 5 days with a full battery on Wednesday and 1 additional charge assuming reasonable usage.

On a related note, does anyone know what the chances of making a video call on Three are / if theres anywhere that I'll be able to get a decentish wifi connection?

I know I should just get on with enjoying the festival but my 19 month year old son who won't understand where I've gone would probably appreciate it if I could manage it once or twice.

  11. Any quick fix diet ….. is exactly that ! even Slimmers world and the like …… yes we can all loose weight while we re on it….

Same as for any quick fix fitness regime.

    Life is for living ….

Working in the fitness industry for 24 yrs …. Ive seen it all.

But … for the majority of people none of these quick fixes work…. as you ll put it all back on … and more on top !

Slowly and surely is the best way. Achieving small goals which add up to your BIG goal (loosing weight/getting fitter) given time, count for better long term results.

And yes … walking is the best activity ever! …. its free and you can do it anytime !!!!!

  12. I tried 5:2 and it would clearly work but the problem was that I go running first thing in the morning and fasting 2 days a week meant no running for 4.

Running 10k in the morning and then only eating 500 calories is too difficult (and I suspect not particularly good for you). Running the morning afterwards if you don't eat first feels like running though a muddy field wearing wellies and eating first just gives me a massive stitch.

Anyway, I've lost a stone and a half since the beginning of the year from wearing a Fitbit and sticking to 1500 net calories a day on My Fitness Pal.

  13. thats a big misconception, you assume metal fans only like metal........I love metal but I dont want to see `only metal` espcially when im paying 200 quid for a ticket and spending 5 days at a festival. Plenty of metal fans at glasto as seen last year from the big crowd shakiri got, saw quite a few metal band t shirts etc as well people walking around, you`ll be suprised I think. Of course youll be able to tell the diehard metallica fans if they perform as we`ll be the ones down the front going nuts but then I guess that goes for any diehard fans of any acts on the bill.
