Probably get as far as the quarter finals, and that would be about par given our resources.
With a population of about 55m or so England probably should have a better "par" for the Euros to be fair.

If I recall the last time England beat ze Germans in a competitive game (also a qualifier mind you) the whole world was told about it; it was front page news in England and they even made a friggin DVD about it...............
Germany then went on to the World Cup final and England didnt

Beating Germany. Thats what that was all about. Not hard to understand. And in doing so gave themselves a chance to qualify automatically, or via the play-offs, and its the play-offs now post the trip to Poland. Something that was thought not realistic after the results against Scotland earlier in the campaign.
If you think they are celebrating getting to the Euros then you are slow. Very slow. If you dont think the above is worthy of celebration then you dont know what its like to have a small nation team to support.
(I wonder what the English reaction would be if they beat the Germans?? Hmmmmmmmmmmm??)

Looking more likely that Ireland will not be seeded in the Play-offs............ yikes!
We may have to hold on to our memory of beating Germany at home as it may not get any better.

Fantastic stuff from the Irish yesterday. The lads who came in for the injuries really stepped up. Impressive. Knock out time now..............let the "anything can happen" commence.
Very impressed with the Ozzies as well. That defence will take some unlocking. Their ability to cover 15 Welsh players with 13 of their own was pretty awe inspiring.

I wouldn't want to diminish Irelands results.
I dont think anything you say could, even if you really tried hard to.
We beat a team that had some of the best players in the world in it with a team that has some players that barely play football, let alone at a high level.
This result is up there with some of Ireland's best ever. Shame taking 4 points from Germany still does not guarantee us an automatic place

Its been a long while since we had a night like that!
Funny thing was when Poland scored the equalizer many did not know what to make of it straight away. So many thought it was a good thing for Ireland when in fact because we were winning (something no one really thought about) it was in fact a bad thing...............
Some day of sport coming up this Sunday. Employers beware!

Jurgen Klopp strikes me as the sort who will definitely have a spectacular breakdown at a press conference. Looking forward to it already. Plus, he might actually do a decent job with them.
From what I have seen of him he has fun with the press and takes the piss out of them............but maybe I only saw him when he was winning

It will be interesting to see if FSG give Klopp any money in Jan and if so how much. And it will be interesting to see what he can do with it and if he has the midas touch. He got Lewandowksi, Reus and Hummels each for less than £5million.............that aint too shabby.............but he may have stinker buys too i'm not aware of

Any other manager and I probably wouldn't myself but Jose has a way of making me wish for things to happen to him and Chelski to make me laugh and to entertain me. And it's been gold recently. It's also great seeing Terry being made a monkey of too now and then

The deal for Klopp would of been done before Rodgers got sacked and I think Rodgers got told he was going to get sacked prior to the Everton game, probably have to wait until the weekend until they announce it even tho I'm 90% sure its already in place.
I dont think he would have know prior to Everton. It did not look or sound as such anyway and to my mind makes no sense to do so

I just thought Utd and Pool fans could for once be in unison and enjoy the shenanigans at Chelski at the moment. It really is hilarious watching Jose crack. Him falling back in his seat at the weekend was top stuff. And this playing the victim is brilliant

I think the point here is that there really wasn't a "cocky media" as a whole that said as you state. The uninformed small part of the media that did (if there was at all), will not have suckered any English fan into believing they would win it, other than the usual once every four year rugby supporter.
Struggling to find where the big deal is. Particularly from a non-English supporter who knew better anyway?

I think the point here is not that the 6 nations or the Tri nations winner points to who will win the WC, but that those who dont win such tournaments should not really come into a WC with a cocky media thinking they can.
England were never going to win this world cup and I feel sorry for any English fans that got swept up in it all thinking they would only to witness starkly the reality of the situation................you never win anything with kids!

Nope, it's me that had it wrong (the bit I had in my head is done after the automatic Qualification is complete).
However, England will still be OK as long as they finish 3rd in the group.

Not as far as I'm aware. It's usually done solely on rankings. As long as England remain in the top 8 in the rankings they'll be fine.
It's why Wales ended up with the (stronger!) English team as well as Australia in the Pool stage. They were 9th in the rankings back when the draw was made in 2012.
Oh............I thought automatic qualification was based on previous tournament performance. Did they used to do this? Dont know were I got that notion if they didnt

Show me the media that said England should or will win the World Cup...I read only that England could win the World Cup. Which is not overhyping.
Also depends on what media you're exposing yourself to. If it's the mirror and talksport, you'll be hearing different things than if it's Mick Cleary, Robert Kitson, Paul Rees, etc.
Think I read some shit from Matt Dawson that made me laugh. Cant think of the other specific examples but its always there in the English media to my eyes.
