Definitely joining you for the luxury experience this year!
Cannot wait!
-
that is more than likely the one - it was also next to the bucket cocktails. And more or less opposite the internet tent. (not sure if layout will be same this year!!
I am getting very excited now - less than 7 weeks till I fly!!!
-
Ah yes, the karaoke bar - sounds like a good place to try to meet up one sunny afternoon Time seems to go out the window on that island, so we’ll probably just keep our ears open for english voices, and shout out efestivals now and again!
-
Is that the one with the ceiling fans and the mist spray? I only ask 'cos a lot of the bars are Arany Azoc ones...
-
i can also recommend the jack daniels bar. good food from the barbie there too
the tribute bands tent was also quite amusing if there's nowt else on at any particular time, a hungarian joe cocker was particularly funny!
beer is cheap (now there's a novelty) and they do sell a weaker beer which is good for avoiding getting too battered whilst still being able to have a cold beer in the hot afternoon sun.
it's just a great chilled out festival all in all really.
and if you fancy an efest meet there's a nice covered bar behind the main stage area, sponsored by arany azoc beer. always well staffed and very friendly. we'll be there mid afternoon most days for a livener!

We went on Day Zero last year specifically because we wanted to see Maiden...even though two of our group managed to sleep through the entire performance! I'm sure we'll find something to amuse ourselves with that day, I'd like to head to the island and have a wander round but I might end up having to bully the others into coming along for the ride.
-
i'd have thought that day zero would still be worth the trip up to the island, it was good last year and was totally rammed. there were only a couple of acts from what i remember tho, maiden and steve harris' daughter. be a bonus if there were a few more on tho.
it's only about 8 weeks away now, man the time has flown! best get saving some beer money...
-
stayed there a couple of times, really nice place. got everything you need right on your doorstep.
security guards were an arse when it came to music at night, you basically can't sit outside and have it even quiet.
but if you want to get some sleep during the day you can't beat a nice air conditioned bungalow!
like mr andy says, don;t expect any wild parties but if that's what you want then bonet is about 10 mins away and you can still retire to the bungalow when you're done

good luck getting anything on a Lyanair flight.
best off to cram as much in your rucksac as possible. try anythign else and they'll charge you for it. the bunch of scamming cheating thieving ******s.

I'm bumping this thread back up because Sziget doesn't deserve to be on the second page!
Hoping there will be some more news soon.................

the name does ring a bell as regards previous issues and bad experiences.

I asked a mate last night, it's actually called "Montmartre". You never know, might see you in there!

It's just down the street from St Istvan's basilica (Szt. István tér, V. district). As you stand in front of the basilica, go straight ahead across the square and the bar's on the right, next to a shop that sells palinka. I can't remember what it's actually called because we know it as the Manowar bar - the owner is a big fan and there are Manowar posters all over the place and photos of him with the band.
We're staying in District VII so we're fairly central for the metro and trains etc, but last year we stayed in the Oktogon area and it wasn't that difficult to get around - cabs were reasonably cheap and easy to find. Be careful around that bar though, the pickpockets are extremely quick and clever!
-
After planning on going for about 5 years I finally took the plunge and booked. Whats Budapest like for public transport? Will probably look to get an apartment because I don't handle heat too well so wondering what are the locations to be looking for this?
-
Maiden last year were fab, best bit was watching our friend sleep through the entire performance! Must admit this year I live in hope it won't be Radiohead, I can't abide them. So that'll be me opening a vein...
We're staying in an hotel in the centre of town anyway so if there's nobody on that we want to see, we can always amuse ourselves in the Manorwar bar!
-
i was just looking at the official site and thinking exactly the same thing. i'm almost glad it's none of the names announced so far, there's some good ones there but nothing to quite match the likes of iron maiden eh? what chance ac/dc or radioheed?? we can live in hope
and it looks like Lily Allen is indeed headlining, on the wed night. amusing she's higher up the bill than Bore Patrol, a band that doesn't come anywhere near to living up to their billing.
-
Was gonna give this a miss this year cos of the poor exchange rate but since all the bands I want to see are playing on Friday and Saturday I've decided to get day tickets. Now I need to find very cheap accomodation for 2 nights. Anyone got any suggestions?
-
does that then make lily allen a headliner??!!
wtf?? i mean, she's not bad and all that but....
-
like it says tho, just turn up with your id and ref number and bob's your uncle, that's your e-ticket if you like.
i've doen the same flight out to beni myself, they're fine, not like Lyan Air.....
