I've said to friends in the past that I would happily part with £100 just to have a parking spot near the entrance and a pitch to put my tent on inside the fence as I like being 'in the action'....although I get why that would never happen.
This seems to be a halfway house on it....although all the 'glamping' stuff I would never use I don't think (never done glamping for the record!)

I have never seen portaloos tardis's at Glastonbury inside the fence and I've been going since 2009.
I think the main reason was A&S police said they wouldn't be able to cover the event.
South Park campsite had them in 2011.

Ah, it won't be for everyone. Suits us as we have a bunch arriving at different times and want to pitch together, which year after year is looking increasingly harder as the day wears on on Wednesday (we have some arriving Thursday too). So, I floated the idea to the rest of my group and surprisingly they all said go for it. If it's shite, we won't do it again! 😁
Will they then charge you £100 per car if you're all arriving seperatly?

I think 1 of the arguments for switching the fallow year from 2011 to 2012 was that the Olympics would need a f**k-ton of portaloos, so they must've still been used at glasto then
Yep, I camped in South Park in 2011 and can distinctly remember there were portaloos for our campsite.

Nice to see a fellow Gooner around these parts! Yep, I’ve got mates who have been going to matches for years and have the tier/status points to match and it’s just a bizarre system to put in place. Really feel for them. I’ve piggy backed off of their spare silver card a few times before this season and it was great. Wonder if they’ll change it back?
Luckily I'm a STH so it doesn't affect me but plenty of my friends are silver members. 🙂

For those who care about football, Arsenal changed to a ballot system for their ticket allocation this year. This is an inappropriate system to use for events where people dedicate their lives to following a team.
The ballot is the wrong sort of system to use for Glasto. Even though ticket day is horrendous, it does mean that a lot of people who go are dedicated enough to try for the tickets at the right time.
A lot of unhappy people about that system!

The biggest difference I noticed since my last time in 2017 to 2023 was how busy it was. I remember being able to find a quiet moment walking back from SEC to my tent at 3am, but in 2023 there were just people everywhere all the time. Even in the "quiet" fields like Green Futures, Healing Field etc.
Other than that, it's pretty much the same, aside from some of the venues had made way for new ones.
Oh, there's a Co-op now which is very handy if you can avoid the queues.
Two of our group who came last year hadn't been since 2015....they said similar, we were slowly wandering back to our camp in Paines at around 3-3.30am on the Saturday night and it felt like it was 10pm with the amount of people moving around.

In terms of public areas inside the fence, about 17-20 years ago.
Though obviously they still exist outside the fence, and in some non-public areas where low volume provision is needed.
I camped in South Park 1 in 2011 and they had portaloos in that campsite that year.
-
As much as I've consistently gone for 20 years, a fair few of my friends have come on and off and some that came last year who hadn't been for 7-8 years all said about it feeling a lot busier on site.
-
The campsites heading towards Sticklinch tend to be a bit more quieter.

As far as I can make out (technical hitches aside), the sale times are basically down to how quick SEE and the festival want it to be.
Last year's resale was quicker because you didn't have to enter payment details.
Also, the line-up wasn't late, it was the earliest it has ever been.
People are just far too impatient these days mate.

I think the chances of that happening is remote to non existent. Every year whilst more people want to go, those who have been many times continue to go, the tickets will always be in demand. The mud of 2016 had no affect on the tickets the following year.,

It’s not what you know it’s who you know. Industry bods will be either offered or allowed to purchase a certain number of hospitality tickets. I think you have to prove you have the right connections.
As someone who has now stayed in hospitality twice it’s not as good as it’s cracked up to be. Last year it was so obviously oversold everyone was crammed in like sardines and people were starting to pitch on fire escape routes. Lots of people arriving and leaving throughout the weekend and not staying for the whole time. LOTS of very posh folk.
But that said if you’ve got the connections and the money it’s a way into the festival!
Some of my friends have got hospitality in the the past and they just camp with us as normal.
You don't have to camp in the hospitality area.

I was trying for others, but didn't get a sniff of a page today, so similar to some recent sales for me.
I've not secured my own ticket since 2015!

Late 90s and early 2000s it was ALWAYS a thing to have a campfire in the camping areas and go sit by one and have a chat with your neighbours. Last yr some lads near us tried to light one and the tent next to us flipped out and made them put it out. Seems to not be a thing these days
What a bunch of dicks!
-
Sitting round the campfire post headliners tailed off for our group around 2008/09 once the late night stuff really got going and people preferred to gurn away at dance stage all night rather than stare into a fire at the tents.

Only ever volunteered or had a coach ticket so need to work out how me and 2 friends are getting there from North London. I really don't fancy queueing overnight Tuesday, but surely need to be up super early on Wed. No idea about what time we'd get through gates?!
My friend who is going to drive thinks we won't fit in with all our stuff in her mum's tiny car, but surely it'll be doable...
I'm hiring a roof box and bars for a week following a tip on here. Costing us £95.

we borrowed one off a mates dad when there were 4 of us in car one year… made so much difference.
how much are they to buy though I wonder?
A half decent brand with fitting at Halfords was about £600 -

Yeah I guess so, but nevertheless a Wednesday ticket rather than Thursday needs an additional day's leave, regardless of where travelling from.
Beggars can't be choosers when it comes to Glastonbury tickets. 🙂

Still need the extra day's leave for the Wednesday though. But not for the Tuesday - as you can say you can travel after work on the Tuesday night if you need to stay over.
I read this bit as saying they need extra day (Tuesday) to get to Birmingham
1 hour ago, razorruck said:Now thanks to his spontaneity, we all have to dip into an extra day of annual leave just to make it to Brum and crash overnight (thanks for the tip, by the way – solid advice). Will be giving him all kinds of sh-t for the 4-7 hours down!

Roof box and bars have been booked to hire, being fitted on the Tues PM and returned Tues PM a week later, cost £95 so £22.50 each split between four of us.
Thanks to everyone suggesting it on here. 🙂

SEC still had them in 2015
I think that's the last time I saw any on site.
