  1. Overall a decent edition and really enjoyed myself, but not going home with a big ‘wow’ feeling and the urge of telling everyone about Sziget, which I definitely had after my first Sziget in 2018. The next two years are going to be critical for the future of Sziget. This year’s edition should give them the financial freedom to make the proper choices and they’ll have a whole year to prepare (which wasn’t fully the case due to the 2nd/3rd wave lockdowns end of 2021/beginning 2022). But I’m not blindly buying my ticket again for next year. The line-up will have to be topnotch, both headliners AND undercard. Pricewise they’ll have to rethink their strategy to compete with the other European festivals. Lowering food prices (which I doubt) or offering more quality for the price paid.
  2. 9-14 August Will the next edition AND the celebration of 30 years Sziget. If they can surprise me with a banger line-up I’ll come back. Just hoping organizers will take the feedback into account and make the right choices regarding the issues the visitors had this year.
  3. I feel that the hate is mainly coming from people who paid for the camping and VIP upgrades. But let’s not forget that this is not what Sziget is about. So that’s on them.
  4. Yeah, despite the different smaller issues the festival had this year, it’s still very much Sziget and very fun. Don’t forget the fact that only half a year ago there was still a lot of uncertainty and lockdowns going on. Festival prep was not optimal for Sziget I would think. And the music/festival industry is still recovering. I’m pretty sure the 30th birthday of sziget will be one for the books.
  5. Overheard some Brits talking. Apparently he went out drinking in Belfast yesterday night and now he’s hungover af. Dunno if it’s true but seems legit
  6. Saw them at Pukkelpop couple of years ago and crowd at the MainStage wasn’t that big either. But that’s ok. Everyone had a great time, that’s what counts. Went straight to Caribou afterwards. Great concert.
  7. A lot of wrong informations In the different articles. It was a girl, not a guy. Only one of her legs was crushed. And she fainted when she got released. But still soooo terrible. I do feel that the structure used by them should never have made the security check (if there even was one).
  8. One of the cranes used in the performance collapsed and crushed the girl’s leg. Not good.
  9. Yep, so 2,5€ for 50cl is a great deal haha. Went to Balaton for the first time in 2015 or 2016 I think, 50cl was about 1,8€. In the same time span, beer in Belgium (for 25 cl) went from 2,5€ to 3,5€ So it's approx the same level of inflation. And the big festivals (Werchter, Pukkelpop, Graspop...) still use paper drink/food tickets. So everything is priced at a multiple of 3,5 which makes it even for Belgian standards really expensive an not really worthy tbh.
  10. European Coachella is def Primavera, not Sziget. I think it's just an inevitable trend, fueled by the last two years of covid & stricter regulations. Festivals are more expensive than ever, with less freedom. It's a general trend and tbh, if rumors are right, a 1/2l beer is priced at €2,5, with even cheaper water and soft drinks. In Belgium we pay €3,5 for beer, water or soft drinks at a festival. Everything is getting unreasonably expensive, but that's not something exclusive to Sziget.
  11. I'm guessing the "free camping" just indicates the biggest open space where visitors camp for free. I used to have a nice camping spot between mainstage and party arena (lots of trees/shadow in that area) so really curious about the whole free camping policy this year.
  12. True for some reason he's not getting the same love in the UK, certainly in comparison with US (Coachella closing act, sold out Madison Square Garden...). Not seeing which other big act could fill the spot... Harry Styles, Twenty One Pliots, Imagine Dragons, Billie Eilish, Lorde... are either not touring in that period or touring on a different continent mid/late august. Maybe if they are willing to offer the same fee, one of those acts might willing to accept the logistic headache for an exclusive show at Sziget
  13. If JB cancels, I'm pretty sure they gonna make Stromae the headliner, taking in account the amount of French and Dutch visitors (I feel like there's more hype in The Netherlands than in Belgium, which is strange for a 100% dutch speaking country hehe) Went to Werchter Boutique in Belgium last weekend, a sold-out 63k one day festival he co-headlined with Gorillaz, and he absolutely murdered it with an insane liveshow. He got multiple 5-star reviews for it. He played just before Gorillaz, and 1/3 of the crowd left after his show, which is quite an indication of how insane popular he is in western Europe. I
  14. I don't think they will replace Justin Bieber with another superstar million dollar act like Harry Styles. Probably a co-headline spot with Stromae and for example a big subheadliner like Disclosure, Burna Boy, Halsey... Gonna save them some money...
  15. At least we'll see some of these acts in the following wave I guess (Flow, Oya, Way Out West, Pukkelpop & Reading). All in the subheadliner/lower bill category, so it should make sense. Florence + The Machine Michael Kiwanuka Fred Again Aurora First Aid Kit AJ Tracey Pa Salieu Parquet Courts Perfume genius Jamie XX King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard Dave Burna Boy Central Cee Romy Skepta Selah Sue James Blake Aurora Marc Rebillet Willow H.E.R. Jack Harlow Glass Animals Maneskin Megan Thee Stallion
