the last dinner party are not really my thing but I reckon they can be a hit

What on earth is this logic?
Yes the festival can offer money but if the act doesn't want to play for whatever reason then the festival can't force them. Do you expect the festival to just keep increasing their offer until the act finally decides to play? It’s called business, isn’t it? Yes, and unless you are not Beyoncé or Taylor swift or, more generally, you play somewhere in the alternative rock spectrum you wouldn’t want to miss a primavera show I guess.

Yeah it just gets very tiring reading the same unfounded criticism over and over again.
If there is one thing wrong with this board its that people base their arguments on absolutely absurd expectations and then complain if they aren't fulfilled.
Like sure, The Smile and Massive Attack are missing, but are you going to complain about Vampire Weekend, Pulp, The National and Beth Gibbons missing from Northside, who has the former? It is in the nature of festivals that they cannot book everything and if you'd personally liked other acts, go to another fest.Yes but primavera is the best one, so fair enough to complain if such notable acts are missing ( I don’t think the “dates did not line up well for them” argument holds against the fact that if you want someone, you pay them for being there: missing acts are a consequence of a curatorial choice in the allocation of money).
this said, it’s February so the season of complaints it’s over. Now back to hyping the festival up

It is almost certain that the canceled name will be the National (perfect dates) but it seems really strange to create hype for an announcement like this, names like Pet Shop Boys, Beck Phoenix have been announced at Ciutat without any problem...
It would be sensational if it were a name not present in the lineup or some unexpected reunion
mmm I don't think I'll be there on the wednesday but the national for free the day before the official fest starts is a massive power move from primavera, the kind of things coachella would do and the reason why we love primavera tbh

Fka twigs, pulp, charli xcx and vampire weekend, deftones and Beth gibbons (jai Paul possibly?) better have strong albums incoming to make forget about the fact we are missing out on this smile gem

Why do people think it’s the National? Admittedly looking on a small phone but can’t see enough of the name crossed out to reach that conclusion.
I swear I can see “natio”

I think I see “natio” under there tbh. I think I don’t want even try to get tickets/get in considered how long the cue will be 😂

bit of a off-topic but I just feel like I want to get in the mood.
favourite 5 moments from these last years of the "new"/bigger primavera, anyone (let's say 2018/2019-now)? Something that stood the test of time for you.I'll start:
- Pavement 2022, after waiting for 3 years- Nick Cave 2018 (maybe the loverman bit)
- Unwound 2023, because it was amazing from start to finish
- Rosalia 2023 maybe? Definitely felt like a victory lap as well as a set she cared about
- Low 2022, sunset set: we know why
-
Did anyone go to Julia holter last year? I wanted to but I eventually chose sparks. Weird timing for booking her, given she will be dropping a new record this year

You can say people don't care about it but in 2022 it was ABSOLUTELY RAMMED.
I was there, it was because of the double weekend imo. Last year a friend or mine could get in for unwound, gilla and Yves without any problem. In 2022 it would have been a 3 h cue

There's no way all the time delay is just because of one band (let alone that one band being Slowdive).
Why not? Ciutat is free and it’s not part of the weekend. Being part of a group who comes from abroad I can tell you most of the people coming to PS doesnt care much about ciutat

Yeah, to torture us. That or a problem with one of the venues they were planning on using. Sounds like Razzmatazz is out this year and I doubt they can use Poble Espanol.
I would be happy to blame that slowidive main fest add-on someone was speculating on some pages ago. Now Barcelona it's sold out so that theory will be proved right/wrong soon

I would choose danny brown + slowdive over a headliner added 🤑

Tyler set will be closer to Kendrick's headlining set (debuting a new album cycle) rather than Tame Impala's although doubt that he will release the album that very Friday as Kendrick. He has been releasing an album every two years since 2011 so seems pretty obvious that he skipped his next one to 2024 to secure a headlining spot at Coachella and decided to release a deluxe version of CMIYGL plus a victory lap with no new songs on his own fest (which is organized by Goldenvoice too). Counting on him as the biggest name on the 2025 line-up.
Assuming the album will manage to top his 2 most recent ones in terms of critical acclaim and popularity. I would not take that for granted. I like Tyler but I don’t see him necessarily reaching GOAT status such as Kendrick. He has been in the game for years and, despite a slow but steady growth, I doubt he can drastically reinvent himself.
A new album cycle would be more than enough for coachella though. You convinced me on that -
As much as I like him, I don't see Tyler the creator as one of the three Coachella headliners unless he doesn't release something very big that manages to infiltrate the mainstream the same way as, let's say, the weekend. Furthermore, at his festival he did not play any new music

the depth of bily woods discography is insane. high class booking. I just wonder if he will also play the new armand hammer album

It only took 1 month to me to go from being annoyed by the national to being annoyed by who they will clash with since I want to see them for the 4th time 😂

Lankum.
They are already pretty hype though. I was thinking more about some act with a future release

Who do you think will be this year Wednesday? When they were announced they were nobody to me. Then great album, amazing show, in very high positions in all the end of the year lists.

Also, she sucks. This year we have been reminded that primavera do not book acts that suck besides their life-long agreement with disclosure

Why are we talking about arcade fire btw? These guys are irrelevant anyway in 2024 and I would not go see them

Slowdive will play Barcelona (Razzmatazz) in February and there are still tickets available. Maybe they'll be added to the PS-line-up when this concert is sold out.
This makes sense. They would fit a Friday early main-stage slot (it seems empty to me). I hope it happens but still not convinced 😞

I think Slowdive will probably still be added but not TS or MA now.
What’s the point in holding them though? They are not going to dramatically impact the sales. On the other hand, you don’t keep slowdive out of the main festival reserving them for ciutat gigs.
Primavera Sound 2024

Does someone have info on daily tickets (availability, cost) for southside in Germany? It’s that festival with the national subbing ed Sheeran which was poster some pages ago.
I am in Germany and I might survive ed Sheeran to catch national idles and fontaines if it doesn’t cost like half primavera
