  1. I have to say this year the clashfinder look very realistic. I think we ve learned.
the most brutal clashes that could actually happen for me would be

    deftones - mannequin pussy

Fka twigs/ pj harvey - Lankum

    vampire weekend/beth gibbons

What time were Turnstile on at last year, and what was the crowd like at that time (it was early enough from memory as they were playing when we were walking past Mordor on the way to the fest)

They were on at 20.30 and then you had nxworries, new order, Halsey and blur (2 to 3.30).
the crowd wasn’t that big at that time (I would say 2/3 of the space horizontally, extending from the stage to the bars in the middle of the space

    .

I would be astonished if Beth Gibbons isn't on much later and clashing with one of those names. I know they won't but if only they could put her on in Auditori and early on, it would have been perfect.

I agree. They always need counter programming for the most popular acts so that’s where you favourite bands will play (the most painful clash you can think of it’s the one that will just happen)

Why would Troye and Charli XCX be listed like that. They would just be two separate acts (I know they are touring together).

    Very obvious fake.

it's not that obvious though. I could imagine them billing as such. What I can't buy is Tool. They are literally touring eu at the time of the festival, why wouldn't they have booked them? Furthermore, it's too much stuff for a side-edition

Jai Paul would be amazing, indeed

I would be surprised if it’s not clipse+ someone else (hopefully not yo la tengo) given the huge crowd they will need to divert from LDR. I mean, we had nick cave vs bauhaus so I take that as the gold standard for what they might be able to conceive.

  6. What’s the opinion here on Lana’s coachella sets? I really do like the songs she plays and I wouldn’t mind an atmospheric set rather then her trying something she is not to own a 70k+ stage. However, I can’t say I am impressed with her live delivery. I don’t think I twant to make an act of faith, given how good the counter programming will be

He simply says that the festival lineup is a living entity, always open to changes and new additions. There are still things to be announced, such as the boiler room or small local names, but nothing more. He just jokes about releasing an exclusive, but obviously even if he had one, he couldn't say it.

In summary, he hasn't said anything new...

    So no p&b replacement

  8. Justice and deftones looked in good shape for sure. I only caught a few glimpses of LDR and I liked the more atmospheric songs to be in the setlist. However I can’t express any judgement about her live presence. I enjoyed the last caretaker song lol.

peggy gou was a generic bad dj set. It’s a skip for me

Auditori slots are very clear for me this year:

William Basinski: Desintegration Loops (confirmed),  HTRK and Lambchop for Tuesday

Charlemagne Palestine, Joanna Sternberg, Tirzha (was in the auditori in 2019 plus the set up of her new show match very well with a interior stage) and Lanark Artefax (similar to Evian Christ AV show in 2022)

Nala Sineprho, Wolf Eyes (they already have announced auditori shows in their current tour), shabaka and lankum

Other potential names could be eartheater or Chelsea Wolf even though don’t see it as a real thing

Space afrika cancelled but they were wharehouse stage material for sure. Beth Gibbons is headlining and is pretty big, she will be in cupra or mordor early afternoon.

I am not sure about lankum in the auditorium. They would also fit cupra very well. Eartheater seems to be a better fit. Furthermore, I saw some placements of the new tirzah show in a early night club setting so I wouldn't be sure of that either.
No way beth gibbons plays the auditorium, given how high she is billed on the lineup

  10. Mount kimbie is also out and is good. I see them more likely to be placed in a afternoon rather than a late night slot with this new direction.
vampire weekend is a very good album imo but I still think I will skip them in favour of more interesting alternatives. For Thursday I have deftones, Beth gibbons, duster, mannequin pussy and Billy woods as must-see. For the rest, I am flexible, but given the amount of good stuff that day it will be inevitable to make sacrifices

Wouldn't it make more sense to rehearse for a batch of shows? Her crew also would prefer I imagine to not just do a random one-off for not much money.

yes, but how could that have been planned without a eu+uk run?

  12. 4 hours ago, xxialac said:

Primavera is next month and yet she doesn't have any other shows.

I don’t wanna blindly believe she will be there but I don’t think this is a convincing arguement. She was billed as euro+uk exclusive so she would not have a run of other dates close to primavera in any case.
And a primavera date before a us leg doesn’t offer logistical advantage over a one-off primavera date and a us tour later in the year

Fka twigs will be out indeed…oh, you wrote album.

I don’t know what credit to give on this but new  single-artist advert started poppin out on my social media feed and twigs is among those. That’s not what I would do if I knew about her dropping out

  14. Primavera headliners are stronger imo. I am confident our perception of the line up will consistently shift after Fka twigs, charli xcx and possibly vampire weekend new albums are out. I am not optimistic about justice though. The singles are just.. fine for such a hyped comeback with all these high profile festival appearances?

Maybe Maifeld Derby in Mannheim (Germany) could be a festival for you, but it‘s a small one.

Nice but at the same time as PS. I guess the best of the rest, given that time and that area, would be southside (national, idles, fontaines in one day), northside (already mentioned here), bks.
what strikes me the most when looking at other events is how cheap primavera is. There is really no comparison. Bks has maybe 3 or 4 of the headliners of primavera and half the line up and costs around the same

  16. Sorry for the off topic: which other european festivals (in Germany and central Europe, preferentially) happening in May/June have some crossover with Primavera Sound when it comes to acts/taste/vibe?
I happen to be in southern Germany from april to july and I would like to catch acts that are not at primavera/that I won't see at primavera.
    I already know southside festival

I don't really think she's suited to a huge stage in general but I agree - definitely not with the last album.

Since there are 5 top line names on Sunday, I'd like to see her play a smaller stage like Cupra but probably no chance.

However, if last year was st vincent (at 20 pm), polachek, calvin harris, rosalia (closing at 3 am) maybe one of those 5 (mitski or pj harvey) could actually be bumped to amazon stage top name clashing with sza.
The first of those names to play could be mitski and I can't see her playing at 19. It's too early for the quite big crowd she will draw. Sza vs mitski/pj harvey would be a nice addition to the series of horrible clashes we have been subjected these last years. If they did nick cave vs bauhaus they are able to do anything

The obsession with Slowdive playing this festival is absolutely bizarre. They've done some pretty wide reaching tours in the US/UK/Europe recently, plenty of opportunities to see them, will be better than on an outdoor stage at a festival too.

Not obsessed at all. It just happens that they do every festival that time of the year besides primavera. Assuming the relationship between the band and the festival must be absolutely positive, it’s just surprising. I don’t think they could have had them for free but I don’t think it would have ruined primavera to book them if they were available

For what it is worth, a few months ago I got to speak to someone in a working relationship with the band, and was told they want to take it easy these days, playing less shows rather than more.

Weirdest absence of them all tbh. I am not saying that they would have shifted tickets that much. However, it's weird that the festival booking them since the reunion every time they were available didn't do it when they are around in that precise time with a new record.
