  1. OK, I'm just thinking aloud here so please don't tear me apart, but, if Primavera had secured a fairly major and exclusive-ish big name, (and I am thinking the Bad Rabbit here); wouldn't they be better off holding off announcing anything until after Christmas? Knowing that they could pretty much sell out both Madrid and Barcelona whenever they felt like it. Like I say, just out loud thinking. (Don't know if he is planning to tour in Europe next year but would not be too surprised).

If they could get someone like Rosalia as an exclusive for Madrid (perhaps someone high profile who can't play Barcelona for whatever reason) then there would be few complaints about lack of Pulp.

Totally agree, chances of them playing Madrid seem slim to none.

There would be a lot of complaints from people in Barcelona that they were getting a 90's semi-retired Britpop band instead of globally recognised homegrown megastars like Rosalia or C Tangana!!! Both acts are absolutely huge in Spain and have toured with very high production tours this year. If either are at Primavera next year (unlikely but I would love to see both again), they will be as major headliners and presumably would have to be at both events more than Pulp need to be.

  3. OK Mr Gabi, this is what I will accept. ONE from Group A (Tom Waits, Kate Bush, Frank Ocean, Bad Bunny) TWO from Group B (C Tangana, Rosalia, Pulp, Pusha T, Missy Elliott, Kali Uchis, Vince Staples, Massive Attack, Lizzo) and THREE form Group C (Toro Y Moi, Bomba Estereo, Gabriels, Jockstrap, Denzel Curry, Calexico, Buscabulla, Wire, The Pop Group, Becky G). I don't think that is unreasonable. Thank you.

That sound like one of the worst lineups for  next season

Not what I would choose, but I quite like it and as always, the undercard etc. Last year the headliners were not that eye catching, but it turned out to be my favourite PS so far.

  5. Using the first 3 names from last year's poster and the names bandied about on here. How does this sound as an equivalent line up? Last year 5/9 top liners were female, so this year 5/9 are male.

    Thursday

(Erykah Badhu, Interpol, Future) becomes Lana Del Rey, Pavement and Tyler the Creator.

    Friday

(Janelle Monae, Miley Cyrus, Tame Impala) becomes Beck, Kacey Musgraves and Massive Attack

    Saturday

(Rosalia, Solange, J Balvin) becomes Lizzo upgraded from minor stage, Bad Bunny and a latin/pop female Camila Cabelo?

The National doing High Violet as a classic album, not on top line

  6. Guessing that Rage Against The Machine is the big name causing the delay to the full line up. (Spain exclusive as BBK and Mad Cool look a bit full). Seem to remember something about 5 reformed 'indie' bands this year; Could be RATM, Pavement, Devo and Bauhaus plus 1. More interesting is, if the excellent New Normal initiative continues, there will need to be 4 female 'headline' acts. Lana del Rey seems to be one but who else? Missy Elliott, please, but are Kacy Musgraves (?) and Sleater Kinney top line? Anyway, with Pavement, Bikini Kill and Kim Gordon already there, I'm very happy. Mad Cool is soulless, just booking anyone around in the summer and BBK is up that hill. Siempre Primavera.
