Funny how opinions differ.  I thought she was genuinely brilliant, so much energy, strong vocals and dancing, no duds in the set and the audience acapella singalong to Dancing On My Own was a moment.

Hadn't seen her before though. What does she normally do that is better?

I thought she could have sang more songs, she only did seven or eight and there was about 15 minutes of her dancing along to house music which worked ok in a 90 minute set but not a 60 minute set. DOMO was great though.

I could hardly believe what I was reading. Anyone would think Primavera had burned down your house (as opposed to offering you a refund of your money in advance of the event and for a circumstance beyond their control).

    But then I see:

"robin (sic) was fucking awful last year"

    That really takes the prize!

On a light note, Robyn really was awful. Such a strange set on the night. And I’m a fan.

Onto the main topic, a friend who works in live production in LA told me last night that there has been barely a mention of Primavera LA since they announced it last June and he doesn’t know any artists who confirmed they would be playing it. There has been zero PR about it over there and he suspects it was unlikely to happen, crisis or no crisis. Primavera might have financial issues but they certainly have communication issues and both seem to at play right now.

Hello again. For those of you are saying this petition is stupid, then clearly you have money to burn and a refund is not important to you. Fine. For what it's worth, I live in Barcelona and I can tell you now, this festival will not go ahead in August. Even primavera know this. So, insurance. The insurance. I'm a music booking agent so I have some knowledge of how these things work. The insurance company does not hold the money, primavera do, or dice, or Ticketmaster or whoever. If a festival or an event is changed, regardless of reason and it is therefore impossible for those with tickets to attend, a full refund must be given. Imagine you flying somewhere on holiday in July and the flight company say, sorry, flight cancelled bit we've put you on a flight in September, would you be happy with that? No of course not. I'll tell you the reason they are not offering refunds and that is because they are using that money to pay the none refundable advances that they give to bigger bands, who often get 50%, sometimes even more, in advance of them playing and most of the time, they don't have to give it back if the festival is cancelled or postponed. That is the REAL reason. So fine, if you don't want to sign the petition, don't but please have an understanding of what is really going on. As for not many people will sign. Again, that may be the case but I know quite a lot of bands and other agents, who I haven't contacted yet who would easily share this around for me. But that's not the point. I like primavera and if I could attend the new dates, I would but I can't as I'm due to be away on those new dates..please also bear in mind that Heineken, SEAT and other massive companies sponsor this festival and money is not in short supply. All I'm asking primavera to do is assure those who cannot attend, that they will get a refund. Doesn't have to be refunded now, just an assurance that it will be. That's the issue here, their wording is being very selective. The way they are behaving is like, oh keep your ticket for next year, as if the name primavera is enough for them to assume people go regardless of the line up. Well I don't, I go only when there's enough bands I like playing and I think it's value. They are acting disgracefully and their reputation is now in tatters because of the way they have handled this. Thank you.

Would many artists do a runner with the advance when an event is postponed or cancelled?

I could be late to this but suddenly I’m finding the original line up poster difficult to find on any official PS platforms. I had a list of artists in the PS app which has been removed.

Condal Mar just cancelled my booking made after Ohjesus gave us the scoop. Thought I was being clever not booking one of the hotels right across the street, lol.. so much for that

anyone have any luck getting them to honor the original booking or nah?

I’m a Melia member the last ten years and I still couldn’t get the bastards to honour my booking, very sharp practice on their part.
    Considering pissing in their pool.

Apparently there's another event on that weekend nearby so they couldn't book the Princess out that weekend. Which meant they turned to the Melia Condor Mar as an alternative.

I could be wrong here but I’ve just been onto the Condal Mar hotel to complain about their cancelling my booking. The lady I spoke to told me all the festival concerts are in the Apolo this year, not at the Forum. Maybe I’m getting false info. Has anyone else heard this?

Just got a message from the hotel saying they were cancelling my stay to facilitate the festival.

Melia hotel near Parc del forum.

Yep, just saw the email from them. Hungry bastards. The Princess hotel is available which is odd, that place is usually held over for the artists. Maybe a sign that it’s a smaller bill in August?

I'm just speculating and definitely don't know much.

Perhaps the fear of imported cases will mean restrictions from countries only that have high incidence (as we have seen recently)?

You're right about the TV networks. The one thing I'd say about televised football behind closed doors though is it is absolute garbage! Sucks all the atmosphere out of the game. VAR is paradise in comparison. I guess they'll try and put in fake crowd sounds but the audience numbers will still be down. Plus the real fans go to the game and it brings in a lot of business revenue to the community. Think there will be pressure to get back to normal for football and other big events like it if at all possible...

Remember that crowd mural at Highbury? Jesus wept.

Ha, I actually think you are right, your beer will be safe and 2021 will be the next one.  That doesn't mean there isn't a chance of this year though.

For one I think there will be huge pressure to start La Liga on around 17 August and with crowds as normal. Football is life in Spain and maybe by then the mortality numbers are in single digits and there is good tech in place to monitor tests that have done. And if a game at the Nou Camp can go ahead, then why not a lower capacity festival ten days later. It's possible that they will do this on the understanding, that they will halt these events if numbers start rising again. Given the long gestation period of the illness, if that happens it will be in any case after Primavera finishes.

Italy has just had three days in a row of a decreasing mortality toll and Spain is close behind. So the turnaround point from the peak in Spain looks imminent and we are still in March.

I’m with you @xxialac. There is a chance, albeit a slim one. But when the TV networks start to apply pressure, football games can and will be played behind closed doors. La Liga could well kick off with no crowds so I wouldn’t think that’s a factor here. If we’re looking at China’s curve, I think imported cases could be the biggest concern by the time we get to August.
On the organization of the fest itself, you seem well informed - do you reckon they’ve got assurances from artists or have they done a Geldof and booked it, hoping for the best?!

Sounds dire, sorry to hear that.

Do you think the govt ones like British Airways, Air France and KLM are more likely to survive than the big low cost ones like Ryanair and Easyjet?

Those airlines are privately owned, IAG own BA and AF/KLM are majority privately owned too so they can’t expect a preferential government bailout. Many state owned airlines have gone under in the past as well. In any case, where there are potential job losses, the relevant governments will come under pressure to assist, whether that’s a low cost carrier or a ‘premium’ brand. The Gulf airlines like Qatar/Etihad should be safe as they are state owned with infinite resources - infinite support however is a different matter.

  11. 57 minutes ago, xxialac said:

In the offchance this gets delayed does anyone have knowledge about the aviation industry to know which carriers are more likely to survive the Summer?

I assume Norwegian will go under, Alitalia are being baled out by the government and what about the others? Iberia, British Airways, Ryanair, Easyjet, Vueling?

I work in the jet fuel industry and we expect a 75% reduction in hedging in the next two months. The only carriers who will survive are those who can switch from passengers to cargo and/or those whose balance sheets are robust enough to support fleet grounding in the short term. Most airlines will be bankrupt by June without government/ industry intervention.

Yep, I'm disappointed because Im convinced there's no way this can happen now with all the cancellations and restrictions everywhere.

Hopefully they come out soon and either refund or roll the tickets over for a future edition.

And, more importantly, hopefully everyone comes out the far side of this doing ok - bands, organisers and all of us too.

Good read here on tour insurance

if a miracle happens and Primavera goes as originally planed, I don't think there has ever been a mistake in my life I'd be happier to admit I'd made, and I'll be willing to shout it of the stage during Pavement's show if they'll let me go up there.

but at the moment, seems like a distant dream

I’d stagedive but if everyone’s a metre apart that could be quite embarrassing.

Damn, I think we might lose Otoboke Beaver too.

Plus I fear one or more of the North American bands will get cold feet. That’s where the existential risk lies to the festival itself.

Wolf Parade have just postponed all their UK and EU dates due to the virus.
