It’s entirely possible it isn’t their fault this time, but them posting a story that says ‘next story is not our fault’ like some sorry drama fuelled teenager isn’t professional either.
Year after year they are making their own rules in this business.
A band that is dropping out is normal. But maybe you better sort some things out before you announce you are making an announcement. -

Will we have news on Werchter Classic and Werchter Boutique line up before Christmas ?
If there will be a Classic and/or Boutique in 2024…
A little while ago they were off the table. Recently that has been changed but no idea about the situation now.- 1

I mean we would just be missing an early afternoon act if that’s the case?
No way they’re pushing The 1975 and Sam Fender this low on the Main.
Correct…
but some really regrettable deals who didn’t go trough if you see the final line up… (the case for so many other festivals) maybe they will be there one of the next years

Not booking Lizzo never mind booking Machine Gun Kelly over her is absolutely mind boggling. No surprise Inhaler is back however after that packed out Barn last year. Kasabian, Vintage Trouble, Stone great additions tho this may have swayed me over to going as I'm already gutted to be missing out this year.
That is not how it works, like MGK is booked instead of Lizzo…
there were some deals that collapsed in the end, as always… nothing new, it happens every year.
Thursday main stage is not ready yet

One special Belgian band confirmed, nostalgic. More very soon.

There were serious talks with Lana a little while a go, but no idea how it ended.

Got a mad cool sunset ticket for Rage Against the Machine. Tour got cancelled as we all know. Festicket went into administration.
Festival doesn’t know who got money back or not (I got cashback from my bank).
So they’re giving anyone who bought a ticket through festicket a free weekend ticket. Not a bad result for me!
Says a lot about their ticket sales 😉

Good and bad news…
good: no Forever Young cover
Bad: we have to wait again a little longer in Belgium to see that NYC band

Oh, I forgot about that but he also said no Billie. Just checked their tour dates and with Vilnius (16/8), Frequency (17-19/8) and Lovestream festival (20/8) already announced they don't seem very likely, especially when they rarely do 3 days in a row...
Yeah, some things changed. That is why my posts are very limited.
Multiple announcements from Pkp this week. But no big batch.- 2

The answer is Live Nation... 😉 As long as they can increase profits they will, so as long as they sell out they won't see any reason to spend more money than they have to. However a festival isn't any better then their actual line-ups and their reputation, so if people prioritize otherwise and stop buying tickets early because they don't trust the line-up to be good, it will probably change.
That being said, and as mentioned by other posters, the way music is being consumed now will make it harder and harder to create those line-ups. Maybe currency (especially towards the dollar) also plays a part, which I definitely know it does for smaller festivals now...
Some time ago we've had Jazebel, a very reliable user. He said, and he was correct: if you program a festival, most of the time not your plan a, b, c, d will happen, but your plan e.
Of course, friday Peppers weren't supposed to headline. The situation from july 2022 was not the same situation november 2022. And with the Peppers, Liam was not supposed to play that spot. Sometimes your plans fall apart. Think of Eddie Vedder in 2019 for example.
A major headliner changed her plans and is in Europe in august. You can see how Sziget and Rock en Seine did some adjustments. Or Foo Fighters, that was really close, they decided to stay in the USA. One weekend RAR exclusive was a good option for them.
After corona, in the business there was a vibe that the next years would be easy. With a lot of acts available. The war and energy crisis changed a lot. Festivals had to adapt themselves. Even frontrunners like Primavera and Glastonbury don't have the headliners they wanted originally.

My guess is she's playing in the Barn....or in the afternoon at the Main Stage
She is playing main stage. Christine is closing Barn.
Ben Howard will be added for Friday.

Got the info from someone working at Rock Werchter that the last headliner would be announced in January... hope she was wrong. Seems a long time to announce an headliner for the festival.
True… will make more sense in januari

is there a way we can have a whip round to pay PKP to not book Imagine Dragons? I think they are pretty much bolted on, how did they get so popular? Tiktok or something? God I feel like im in that south park episode with the tween music that just sounds like fart noises when listening to them.

Billie Eilish is a cert for this I think given the Sziget dates. Big question is do we get Blur? Slim chance but you never know
Headliners can be probably whittled down to 3 of BE, Florence, Blur, Stormzy, and Imagine Dragons.
I'll go BE, Florence and Stormzy with Macklemore closing the Florence night.
Please not imagine dragons, they are utter shite.
No cert

No, most of the biggest names are out. But this post is far too dramatic.
