  1. In 2011 I went to the Spirit of ‘71’ stage in search of Steve Hillage. Only their timings were indeed something out of the 70s so I sat down and waited..and waited. Then on stage came Noel Harrison and sang the most exquisite version of his song ‘Windmills Of Your Mind’ from The Thomas Crowne Affair to an audience of about 20! It is still up their in my all time top 3 Glastonbury moments - unexpected, iconic and achingly beautiful. He did a version on the TV from backstage but his band version was so much better - check the backstage version out on YouTube! He died 2 years later and I’m so glad I wandered into a Glastonbury moment!

There was a new bar in 2019 - The Elephant Bar?  Part of the Carling setup but did have a couple of good craft beers on including Brooklyn Defender IPA and Brooklyn lager

Ooo I missed this one - can you recall where it was?

  3. Saw Kristen Hersh play Glastonbury ‘New Tent’ in 1998 and she was amazing. She had the crowd transfixed

Oh I think Cowboy Junkies on the Garden Stage would be a dream come true. Not too big at all - they just don’t come to Europe very often! But boy if they did that would be stunning.

Also wonder if Rufus Wainwright would be someone to excel at EOTR?

  4. 7/6 - we are actually taking up one more ticket than we had originally booked! Sorry!

My son would have free in 2020 but will be over 14 this year so Glastonbury allowed us to buy an additional ticket!

Hoping everyone on here without a ticket gets one in the re-sale

It’s a good idea if the festival was 4 days. But if the festival starts booking bands to headline that can’t pack the crowd it will not work.

It could work. Because the festival sells out people will choose from what’s on offer. Take End of the Road festival - consistently voted the best small festival. They book headliners that on tour play venues that are maximum 2K but at the festival play to audiences of 8 thousand.

An arrangement like this would be great on the pyramid.

More Glastonbury relevant and beautiful than anything Macca could deliver - and I’m not even a fan. This - artists of today at the top of their game - is what Glastonbury was always about! Love to see Billie, Wolf Alice and Harry Styles headline the first Glastonbury since 2019 - authentic and innovative!

  7. I certainly wouldn’t dismiss the idea that Wolf Alice are one of our headliners. US acts are not committing to travel restricting the choice of headline acts - and WA are without doubt a Glastonbury act. Coldplay headlined on album number 2 and even they had doubts whether they were ready…the rest is history. Personally I can see this happening

Yep I've been pestering them on email and they're running way behind, as you can imagine things like that are coming together very late this year. They did confirm I have a place so at least there's that. 🙂

Thanks Big Hog. Makes me relieved that I haven’t just fallen through a gap somewhere. My first time volunteering so didn’t know what to expect! See you there!

  9. Is anyone on here volunteering as a steward this year? My two EOTR buddies are giving it a miss this year so I thought ‘what the hell’ I’ll volunteer this year rather than miss it. I got a confirmation of a place in June from Wicked Events but not heard anything since. I know that they are having to juggle new arrangements with Covid protocols just being released but just wondered if others are in the same position or have they had their ‘joining instructions’ through?

    Jackson Browne?

Just on a point of accuracy - The Waterboys also did this in 2007 throwing in a headline slot on Avalon Stage as well for good measure 😊

Apparently James were meant to be playing in that slot, but refused, causing a few years' animosity between them and the festival.

My memory of that was that James refused to start their set until the game was over and so they had about 25 minutes left of their slot as people headed back to field and they finally took the stage. They came on and said that they had designed two set lists one for if England had lost. And a greatest hits set if they had won - cue a party as they started with She’s A Star, Sit Down and Laid..

This years surprise is Michael Kiwanuka - I really liked some of his last album but have never seen him live before. It does make me think that Simon and the team have heard his new album (he must be due one?), or least some of it to feel it's the right booking.

Saw Michael on his last tour and also at Neighbourhood Festival last summer and live he is stunning. His sound embraces psychedelia, soul and rock and he holds the attention of the audience transfixed by jams and intense playing. Surprised to see him at EOTR but very happy at the same time

sorry but Ryan Adams would be such a boring booking

Why? Hasn’t played since first EOTR. Not played in UK for 2 years. Has a back catalogue to die for. Possibly his last tour for some time to come. Wears his heart on his sleeve and interacts with an audience in a way that so many headliners just fail to do! I get he’s not everyone’s cup of tea but why a boring booking?

  14. Glastonbury is always held on the weekend when the Friday is the first Friday AFTER the Summer Soltice. So the earliest it can be is Friday 22nd and the latest - as in 2019 - is Friday 28th

    Hope that makes sense

    So in the frame:

Macca, Fleetwood, The Cure, Lady Gaga, anyone else?

Do people honestly think that Glastonbury will have 3 headliners none of whom are a 'current' act commercially active, and 'popularly' relevant - just not going to happen in my view - a fallow year and then Glastonbury reinvents itself as a heritage festival??

Gaga was brilliant last time there's is no questioning that. I have never seen The Cure so I am excitedly by that possibility. However Paul McCartney was dreadful last time - the only time in 18 Glastonburys that I left a headline act on any stage to go and sit in a bar! I've avoided the Arctic Monkeys on the two previous occasions but in the absence of a Taylor swift or Kendrick then surely they must be the popular meat in the icon sandwich?

  16. Heard about the new Marianne Faithfull album on 6Music this morning featuring Nick Cave, Ed Harcourt and Mark Lanegan and that she is going to play live dates next year - got me wondering whether a project like this could fit the Garden Stage like the No Other Band did a few years ago?
