It seems like a lot of people are 50/50 on Pulp Vs Deftones. Can't comment on the latter but the former is probably in my top three gigs of all time, having seen them last year in Sheffield.

Being greedy I know - but I wish there was more wriggle room between Beth Gibbons and Pulp, although geographically I guess she's on the most convenient stage for it at least. I just want to 1) see most of her set and 2) get a good spot for Pulp...

Other than that, I'm completely intruiged by the Lana set which I feel will either be kind of hellish or ethereal with little in between.

Glad Clipse have got a good slot, kind of wishing Freddie Gibbs and Madlib had a similar one. Feel like they've missed a trip going on so early (and on the main stage).

I saw Pulp at Finsbury Park last year. Got into the free "gold circle". One of the best outdoor shows I've been to. Such a great atmosphere. Jarvis throwing grapes and chocolate from his pockets into the crowd capped it off.

I will give them this... They've somehow mapped out Thursday PERFECTLY for me. Everything I wanted to see will be seen + Amaarae. Amazing.

Friday, having Omar Apollo into Troye Sivan into Lana is sh*t. I wanted to see Omar and Troye when it's dark out, I'm wrecked, and there's no annoying Lana fans in sight. VERY bottom heavy for me that day. Won't have much to do in the late night except waltz about and find my new favourite act.

Agreed, the Saturday is weaaaak. My feet will appreciate it. Also thank GOd I got tickets to Lemon Twigs on the Sunday cus no way was I gonna make 6pm on the Saturday just to watch a band open at the main stage.

Lemon Twigs were in my top 2 picks for Saturday with Mitski. Glad they're playing early as it not just avoids a clash, but their tunes should be played in the sunshine. Overall I'm happy. I finally got into The National having seen them, most partially, for the past 10 years or so at Primavera, but I want to see Clipse more.

Well, Thursday timetable is the most worrying, so I'd take that... But the timetable for Wednessay is out for weeks now and I can't see them releasing the timetable over three days.

Ah fair enough. Hadn't realised they'd released that a while ago. If not today, then I expect we'd get the full timetable tomorrow then.

  4. Well, they have the timetable for the opening day Wednesday on the app now. Or has that always been there? I don't bother refreshing the official website or social media platforms. I'm just waiting until I see the number of pages on this thread jump up significantly, then I'll know the timetables are out.

She has a band. I wouldn't call it a DJ set at all. And I wouldn't call a backing track in rap/r+b miming unless it's like the whole song. Even the greats like Kendrick often have a backing track underneath to fill the small gaps.

That's a good point regarding the band. I actually want to see SZA, but interested to know if she actually good live overall, regardless of whether she sings live for the entirety of her set or not. I'm not even a fan as not followed her properly, but I like Kill Bill from the brief Spotify shuffle of her songs I've done. It's just a shame when an artist has to mime during their set as you may as well just put a lookalike up on stage. You don't even need to be a great singer to be a great live act.

Seen SZA's Lollapolooza performance a few weeks ago. It was abysmal. Karaoke stuff. Backing track etc. Singing bits and pieces of the songs.

So a bit like a DJ set, like Justice, Chems, but with miming (and some live vocals thrown over the top)?  I think it's ridiculous too, as live acts should perform live for credibility, but maybe just treat someone like SZA like a DJ set?

  7. Just took a look at a couple of Clash finders as wanted to see guesses for the Saturday. Not looking good for being able to catch Militarie Gun, Royel Otis, Lemon Twigs and Mitski.  If I had to pick two, I'd want to see Mitski and Lemon Twigs most. Won't be able catch anyone on the Sunday.

Really don't agree that every act should be bookable. We are all snobs. We all have movies we like and movies we don't rate, music we like and music we can't stand etc. Whilst we have different tastes, you can to a degree cluster people with good curation.

If they put, say, Liam Gallagher or Coldplay, it would no longer feel well curated.

And yeah, for my tastes, commercial stuff like the Black Eyed Peas should definitely be off limits.

But booking Maneskin and Calvin Harris is good curation?... not that I have an issue with them being booked as there is plenty of other acts to see. Primavera should have no limits and surprise us. Booking The National every other year is worse (in my opinion) than booking Liam Gallagher or Coldplay once ever.

  9. Do any Primavera festival attendees go to more commercial festivals? I'm going to Isle of Wight festival for first time next year. I do Primavera to mainly discover new music, but then like to do other festivals with acts I'd go and see on their own tours. With Prodigy, Pet Shop Boys and Green Day headlining IOW, I'm more than happy. 3 of the best live acts (for me) headlining is brilliant. It can get pretty snobby on here regarding who is "worthy" of being at Primavera, but I feel any act should be welcome at Primavera. It's the most diverse festival out there and no act should be off limits.

Sugababes at Victorious Festival in 2022 was my highlight of that particular festival btw. Gorrillaz the best at Primavera the same year.  Car Seat Headrest for me in 2019. I hope Primavera continues to book a diverse range of acts and even reaches for artists that would not be considered previously. I'm bored of seeing The National on every other year of the line up. Luckily there will always be something else I can see.

  10. A heads up to anyone flying from London. Just booked flights with British Airways from Heathrow for £204 return. 6am out on the Weds and 9pm on way back on the Sunday. Return leg was only £39 (plus £17 for selecting seat in advance)! Cheapest with easyJet was about £350 from Gatwick.

  11. I'm impressed by how much time is being spent discussing a band that's not even playing at PS24.

What acts on the line up can people on here recommend for a good party atmosphere? I'm going with some friends who probably won't delve into the undercard beforehand, but want to take them to see some music that they can dance to without having to know the back catalogue to enjoy.

  12. I cracked. Got caught up in the rumours of this thread and the hype from the announcement of the line-up announcement. Ticket bought for next year after telling myself I'd wait until after I've seen the line up. Continuing my Primavera run since 2010.

Also... I hope Kylie is there. Was at Glastonbury in 2005 when she was supposed to headline. Saw her emotional and thoroughly entertaining legends slot there in 2019. Definitely worthy of being on the Primavera line-up if she is on there and a must-see for me personally.

    RIP Rodriguez.

Was going to be one of the highlights of PS13 but he had to reschedule his tour last minute so never got to see him grace the stage.

Gutted too that he dropped out in 2013, but luckily saw him in 2018 at Royal Albert Hall. Was looking frail, but was great to see him live.

  14. I've not been to Porto since 2015, so will miss the old stage in the woods and the more relaxed vibe of the festival if it is now overcrowded. Looking at the position of the new main stage on the festival map over Google maps, it does look like a bigger and wider area compared to the old main stage position, so hope that helps.  Can't wait to go back to Porto after having done Barca every edition from 2016-2022. Just hope they still do those awesome steak baguettes at the festival...can anyone confirm that was still there?

  15. The thing is, Porto is no further away from Madrid than Barcelona is.  Bands wouldn't need a full day gap in between would they to play Porto before or after a Madrid show? But regardless of this Porto lost out on some big names that Barcelona had in previous years. I remember being at Porto and missing out on Barcelona's QOTSA, Arcade Fire and Black Keys in 2014/15. Not sure why they didn't have those bands across both festivals when they are only a week apart.

  16. Talking of price, there's less than half acts at Porto compared to Barca/Madrid including the ciutat shows, plus the venue is smaller so costs far less in that respect too. Porto price now at the level Barca was pre-pandemic so don't think that necessarily means we won't get any big names carrying over. They did well last year with headliners carrying over. Certainly better compared to previous years where Interpol seemed to be the biggest name one year!
