  1. Although I'm actually sad for Werchter this year (thinking I was thinking to go til December, sorta), it has to be said that this is one of the worst june-july for festivals in a long while.

Too bad Tool decided to come back and The Cure to do their final tour this year, too bad

All depends if organisers want something approaching gender balance. The fact that all the headliners are white doesn't appear to be an issue though.

This thing is starting to go beyond ridicolous.

Where are the jew headliners? and muslims?

Why there are no disabled headliners?

    Where is the Asians headliner?

    And the LGBTQ quota?

Damn I really wish Sziget cared about my feelings and put on the Main Stage an asexual Nehandertal performer.

    Sorry for the rant.

Miley Cyrus just announced for Radio One's Big Weekend and new album incoming. Potential Saturday night headliner?

Does she have any relevance in Europe now on?

I mean, if we skipped the bullet with Britney Spears the last year, I cannot see reasons why she should take the headliner slot.

Lost and forgotten after her hoe period.

Thanks for all your advice - it is much appreciated. One final one if I may, we are staying off-site and can't get to the festival until about 4.30pm on Wednesday - how long is it likely to actually take to get into the festival at this time?

Usually you get in in less than 30 minutes by that time. Maybe you can try to reach the entrance from the "secondary entrance" (the parking lot) rather than K Hid Bridge, as it is less crowded - just ask to the taxi driver to get you there if he gets English enough.

About the first line queue, I gotta say that probably you will have to queue on the main stage from the first act to get to the first row, because people will start queuing early for Foo Fighters show (as they did for Arctic Monkeys last year, I suppose). Last year we got the first lane during AM only beacuse a thunderstorm happened and we saw The War on Drugs under the rain.

Another thing I'd like to stress out: at Sziget recently I had more troubles with crowd of screaming girls rather than mosh - last year one girl almost broke my nose jumping for Alex Turner. Of course if it's a 14 yo girl we are talking about things might be different, but in any case, I wouldnt let her queue alone in a show of 80k people, because that day you will get both the crowds and it will be packed as fuck (14 yo girl screaming for 21 and metalhead-ish for Frank Carter/Idles and Foo).

Other general statement: better in front than in the first half, because if she gets troubled she can easily get out by the barricade, escorted by the security and usually the clusterfuck is not on the barricades (few exceptions made: The Prodigy), so even if it sounds counterintuitive, pushing for the frontline is not a bad idea at all, even if you have to make your way out of it!

Although I understand what you are saying - you've listed some fantastic acts - you've also highlighted why some people would be happy with Ariana.

You've named 14 acts and they are all male. We live in different times from even ten years ago and it is likely, but not certain, that the remaining headliner will be female. Ariana fits the bill.

Actually people don't want Ariana because she's a woman. This gender parity everywhere is ruining the world more than improving gap condition (ready for the shit storm, but that it is).

People want Ariana for they have switched their taste from something heavy or more sophisticated to something more easy listening and cute. And this mainly happened by the time festivals started to attract the general crowd, who asked for more Pop and less Metal.

Is it good is it bad it's not up to me to say, but the gender equality is surely not a good endorsement (for how much good is the idea from where it started), look at Primavera lineup.

Nothing is sure, but we can hope.

At least the Saturday headliner is missing so far - so there will be one big name at least.

Where there could be slots for bigger names:

Friday: coheadliner for Martin Garrix and a A38 stage headliner
To be honest Tove Lo as Cohead for Garrix would be disappointing.
Also I can't imagine who should headline A38 so far.

    Saturday: headliner and coheadliner
where do we think are james blake and son lux slots? not sure

Sunday: cohead for Post Malone and A38 head
Years and Years would be a disappointment for a cohead.
The were the first slot at the mainstage like 2 years ago?!

So well, we can expect a few more big names I guess. (or at least I hope so)

Friday I think Tove Lo is third down in Main stage. Saw her live opening to Coldplay and well, sufficient at best.

Saturday I'd say James Blake subheadliner Bonobo-style and Son Lux A38 headliner (or 22 slot)

Sunday Post Malone is full headliner, and I think Years and Years will be 3-4 down in Main, lot to see there but that day looks pretty troubled so far (such a shame for 3 days ticket).

Guys, I have potential leak...they have some kind of trivia:

Artist who ended up without money and home, when before he released his debut single, he has been dropped out of his label company. He worked as a clerk in electro store and cigarette store, he has been sleeping in his car or on sofa at his girlfriends house. His first single was huge success and it emerged virally all over the internet and his career is rising.

Do you have somebody particular in mind? Its possible, that hes already announced, but I would give it a try.

Isn't this Ed Sheeran? Don't know, tho

  7. Could it be that all the Iberian shows are holding their horses waiting to see what Doctor Music will do?

If it actually will not be done, that means that all these festivals have one less competitor + they would be able to put hands on bands that already have scheduled their tour and find themselves with a non remunerative gap in between (so, easily bookable at lower price / less compromise on lineup building)

the only hint you need to take seriously is this one from an insider on festileaks: Greg: 2 acts, 3 shows

People seem to think this means the national will play 2 sets

    The strokes + The Voidz

    Underworld 2 nights

Apparat + Modeselektor doing something incredible?

Jungle 10pm on their day, looking at previous lineups that’s same time as Main stage headliner and then dance/DJs follow into the night on A38?

Jungle were headliner in 2015 and from than I think they grew a little bit

Hi guys looking for a bit of advice, has anyone ever paid for pre pitched tent, if so what’s it like camping in the heat on site?

Also what sort of prices are we looking at for food and drink on the site?

Prepitched in 2015, not worth it as they were set in plain lack of shade and their quality was so low that it rained inside completely flooding the tent.

If you really don't wanna bring a tent, make in order to be there 1 day before or early morning and buy one in loco

How many A38 headliners do people think we have? I know Chvrches are headlining on Thursday, maybe Years and Years on the Sunday if they're not subbing Post and Catfish on the Monday?

Maybe I read too much into ticket list, but I'd go for Kodaline, Chvrches, Jungle and maybe Son Lux

    Foo Fighters => Arctic Monkeys
Ed Sheeran => Dua Lipa (?)
Florence + the Machine => Lana Del Rey
    Post Malone => Kendrick Lamar
    The 1975/Richard Ashcroft => Mumford & Sons?
    Martin Garrix => Kygo
    ? => Gorillaz?

I think that we'll get something like Gorillaz or Mumford & Sons. I'm also unsure on the Dua Lipa part. Not sure if it's gonna be a female headliner, because in the festileaks interview Tamas Kadar said that he would choose a quality act (regardless if it's a male/female one) over gender equality.

Now that we have Post Malone, I don't think that we'll get another rap headliner, so Cardi B is unlikely. However, I wouldn't be surprised if they see Ed Sheeran as a Mumford & Sons replacement and The 1975/Richard Ashcroft as a replacement for Gorillaz. In this case something like Ariana Grande / Billie Eilish would be likely.

Best case scenario would be something like The Killers / RHCP as Gorillaz replacement, I think. :D

    Please don't do this.

    Three are the odds:

    - Female pop headliner (although it would be kinda weak to put Ariana Grande/Cardi B/Ellie Goulding after James Blake)

    - Indie headliner (which at this point could be The National or Tame Impala, although I believe this is not happening)

    - Surprise bigass headliner like Coldplay (Eminem in the lineup is just a meme)

This being said, great part of the main lineup is shaped by now, where we have some meh names (Hucci?!) and some great names (IMO, Jungle, Richie Hawtin, Son Lux, Frank Carter, Frank Turner, Yungblud, Yeasayer, Masego). The whole day is defined for the first and the second days (apart from one name on day 2).

The main stage was already rich and I think we can add to it Post Malone, Franz Ferdinand (3 down after the 1975 and Richard Ashcroft apparently), James Blake, Tove Lo and Years & Years.

I was expecting more names for the Party Arena, but so far I only recall Sigala, W&W, Carnage and Vini Vici belonging to it.

Although I'm really tempted not to go this year I have to say that some days are shaping up really good (Day 4 and 7), while others are really weak (3 and 5). Too bad James Blake's day is not on position of Post Malone's one, I would have considered a 3 days pass, but at this point 3 and 5 are too swaggy  for my tastes and it is not worth to do a 5 Days.

At this point I think they don't have much aces up their sleeves left (apart from maybe one last headliner, but the names I hear through the gravepine does not thrill me that much) and if this is the core from were they start, although it being one of the most solid lineup in the circuit this year, it does not buy me.

  13. So we have an A38 filler announcement?

I guess Post-Malone will co-head with Garrix and Franz Ferdinand and James Blake are sub-head (or JB even head of A38). Those and Years & Years, other than that I see no name for the Main Stage

  14. Can't see Tame Impala happening, after PKP announcement today. Every festival knows the aces it got in its sleeve and it would be stupid to hype so much an announcement of only two bands, which both happen to be at Sziget (and also Lowlands, if I recall correctly).

The Killers could be a good call, but I'm not so fond for betting on headliners that has not been announced anywhere in Europe so far, at this stage of the game

The National are subbing FATM in London in July. They are also in Romania on 10 August with a gap to 14 August. Any chance they might play Sziget before FATM on 12 August? Are they a 'Sziget' band?

Not properly, but if we had Sigur Ros or PJ Harvey, I say why not

How long does it take to get from the main stage to the A38 with all the crowds? Just wondering if it will be easy to get near to the front of Chvrches at 23:45 after watching the 1975 or whether there will be huge crowds all going in the same direction meaning we end up right at the back of the tent?

10 minutes top if crowded, now that there is not only one entrance it is really easy to go from one to another

Pretty sure A38 headliner slot is 23:45-1:00 and the main stage headliner ends at 23:00. Correct me If I'm wrong though.

Correct. It is not an official headliner slot, the A38 is more anarchic in organization, but traditionally speaking, the main non-electronic names in the last years played at that time, with few exceptions (Flume at 1.30, Nick Murphy at 1.30, Editors at 22.00, so on so forth)

Can not see anyone but Ashcroft subbing 1975, unless he is in the A38 with chvrches.

Agreed, as Ashcroft looks to be the subheadliner by the bill. Point is that a day with Ashcroft-1975 is the weakest solution for everybody that is not English, and it would be more natural to think The 1975 to coheadliner with somebody TBA.

Chvrches are headline in a38, confirmed by press at the announcement

This just made me think 'Oh Four Tet would be good but I'd prefer Bonobo'. Then I remembered that Bonobo played last year and I missed it because I was getting drunk in a gazebo.

Seriously though, I'm liking the sounds of what people are suggesting. I've been banging the drum for Tame Impala for a while so that would make my day. I still have my suspicions that we'll end up with George Ezra and Ariana Grande but I'll stay optimistic to the last.

    Sziget vibe at its finest!

Tame and George Ezra would be mighty fine. Would Ariana actually be like ed/foos expensive, seems like she's never really actually booked? Hopefully I guess so we don't get her.

Way too expensive! Way way way way too expensive IMO

In 2013 third down on Main.

    In 2016 headline A38.

Nope, they played 22.00 in 2016, clashing with Many Chao... They really are a filler, as Balthazar and Oscar & the Wolf, as long as they there people from Netherlands (or Belgium?) are happy and that's what management wants

  21. Although I expect an electronic-dense announcement (Party Arena got no love so far), I go for my picks:

Main Stage: James Bay could be a good subheadliner for Ed Sheeran, Royal Blood a good co-headliner for The 1975 (as somebody else pointed out); for a rap headliner, sadly, I'm negative for Eminem, but I think we will get something like A$AP Rocky before Martin Garrix (so we got the swiggy swaggy night set), I also can see Tame Impala announced as an headliner (or sub-head of Florence, or sub-head of something classy like The National, that in turn, could also be subbed by Franz Ferdinand). Minor names that I suppose could spawn around are: Django Django, The Wombats, Daughters, Rag n Bone Man. But maybe I'm a little too optimistic.

A38: Even trickier. Supposed we have three headliners (CHVRCHES, Jungle, Kodaline), I'd go for a wild bet and point my finger on Robyn, Jorja Smith, Bloc Party and James Blake. The point here is that maybe I am too optimistic as Robyn and James Blake could easily fill a sub-headliner spot on Main Stage on their own. For the night my biggest consideration goes to Modeselektor, Jon Hopkins, Boys Noize, Wilkinson (although this is more of an hope than a prediction, for likely that that is). Less likely, but always credible: Sub Focus, Chase and Status, Richie Hawtin, Carpenter Brut, Four Tet, Astrix, Helena Hauff, Nina Kraviz, respectively from the one I'll bet more on to the least. Undercards, I'd simply go for Sigrid, AJ Tracey, Denzel Curry, Billie Eilish, Girl in red, A Day to Remember, Little Simz.

Party Arena: never been a fan, so cannot go so much in dept. Few names I heard quite often in the circuit lately are Salvatore Ganacci, Hugel, Oliver Heldens, Allison Wonderland, Afrojack.

For the Colosseum I don't think we will get nothing as usually its lineup is released in one time forward in time. Also, RIP World Stage

Reckon George Ezra could possibly headline/co-headline one of the days, as they need another "pop" headliner, as they usually have at least two.

George Ezra in Hungary, despite the song Budapest, is well far from being even a subheadliner (but he is a worthy 2nd spot)
