  1. Aww I just came on to read everyone's tales and I'm the only person browsing :D How times have changed!

For those who made it in, I'm so glad you all had a blast.

See you all in 2019 at the farm! x

Well, this is fucking miserable isn't it? In work when I should be at Glastonbury, certainly not a good Friday afternoon. I'm off home in half an hour anyway, I think the drinking might start fairly soon after. :(

My drinking is starting as soon as the clock ticks over to 5.30. Maybe even before as I'm working from home. We deserve it tbh

Good morning lonely people.:( I hope you're all not too down this weekend.

Well my plans fell through spectacularly yesterday. After having a contact on site that had a very good chance of getting me through the gates I had my car loaded up on Wednesday night, ready to set off yesterday lunchtime. Unfortunately a family crisis cropped up yesterday morning which has meant I had to cancel my plans. To say I'm absolutely gutted would be an understatement. I'm afraid to say that there are not many things more important than Glastonbury for me but family has to be one of them!

I could easily now ignore the whole weekend and pretend it's not happening but as I'm sure you're all aware this is easier said than done so I've got myself a plan. I'm going to get some Brothers in the fridge and I'm going to sit there with my steel cup from last year and watch every minute of the BBC coverage. Even though I'm not there I'm still going to enjoy Glastonbury in the only way I can and then look forward to Kendal Calling as my next festival.:)

Try not to let it get you down too much. We'll make sure we are all back with a vengeance in 2 years!

Really sorry to hear that dude. Hope everything's ok, family wise.

I wasn't going to watch any of it on TV but husband has decreed that we should. So we have a fridge full of booze, lots of barbecue food, a big pile of snacks and a hot tub in the garden. Mini home-festival it is.

We will all be there in 2019. First in the queue for tickets in fact. Karma will see to it!

This thread has honestly kept me going at times in the last couple of months and it's so nice to see that so many of the secret resale crew made it in. Hope everyone is having an incredible time. I'm definitely there in spirit.

Good news chaps (for me at least). I'm in (with a proper wristband and everything). There is going to be one exceedingly happy 11 yo when we turn up at school tomorrow and tell her she's not just going with a friend of hers, but with us and her little brother!

Meanwhile, there are three exceedingly hot people on a farm one Somerset. Thanks all for your support and help, and good luck with the remaining searches.

Congrats! How did you get sorted, if you don't mind me asking?

It's been great having you along for the last few weeks. Sorry you didn't get your tickets but we all surely deserve to be lucky first time next October! Could you really not watch it on telly though? I know if I do fail to make it this year I'll be watching everything. Yes it will be hard but i can't not have any Glastonbury in my life!

    Have a great summer.:)

I haven't watched any of it the last 2 years as just can't bear the jealousy! :( It's easier if I just pretend it's a fallow year!

For sure we will all be first in the queue next time. Karma will see to it!

  6. I've still been lurking here from time to time (when work allows) but there's no way I could go now anyway as I wouldn't be able to get leave and my husband DEFINITELY wouldn't be able to.

So I think it's time for me to bow out. Absolutely gutted I won't be there (feel like crying just writing this!). It would have been my tenth and, to make it even worse, we had tickets (and Worthy View) for last year that we had to give up. Don't think I'll be able to cope with watching it on TV so will probably take my dog for lots of long walks, drink a lot of wine and pretend it's not happening.

I hope those of you with tickets and those of you who've managed to get work have an AMAZING time. Hopefully see you all on the farm in 2019! x

I watched til midnight and went to bed with a smile on my face - thankfully that smile remained when I woke up.

and this made me laugh lots too :D Poor Jez

That failed high five is the only thing keeping me going this morning, after staying up until 3.30 watching the election  results

  8. Lovely to see so many folks from here getting in at the last minute. Starting to make my peace with the fact it's probably not going to happen for husband and me. Will likely be off to End of the Road by way of consolation!

I'm off for the day but see you all back here tomorrow :)

  9. Just renewed my checkpage for another month (even though, if the resale happens after tomorrow, I won't be able to get the time off work) but it hasn't extended the expiry date or added any more credits. Does anyone know how long it should take to update?

looks like I will be going until I'm on my last then ... hope to get to meet you all someday xx

After tomorrow I have to give up on hopes of going this year as won't be able to book the time off work. Very sad (have never failed to get tickets before, somehow!) but it's one of those things. I'll hopefully be back in 2019 and beyond!

Have the most incredible time! x

I have tried to source as many of those places as poss... not really into the offerings of the pyramid stage so hoping places will be easier to get around at the less populated areas.

My one big fear is that I won't be able to get the full experience due to my energy levels not letting me able to ... I'm not sure I could see the sunrise... I'm normally getting up by then !!!

I'm so looking forward to it but wish I didn't have such a battered body so I can  enjoy it to the full ... my experience will be a lot different to all the youngsters going that's for sure .... waking up with a pillow stuck to my tongue are long gone

Nah, you'll still get the full experience. You'll see a fraction of what you think you're going to see and you may come away thinking you've not seen half of what Glastonbury has to offer but there are plenty of people (me included) that have been going for years and have still not seen it all. If you normally wake up at sunrise then wake up and see the sunrise rather than staying up all night. I'm sure WV is a fantastic place to see it too.

Dont put any pressure on yourself with a strict timetable. You won't keep to it. Just wander where you feel like and take in as much awesomeness as you can.:)

I second MilkyJoe! I've been 9 times and still not seen everything. Just relax, wander and you'll have the time of your life! I rarely have super late nights because I just don't have the energy and I love the site early in the morning when there aren't too many people about. I've probably only seen the sunrise 2 or 3 times in all my years of going :)

A couple of my friends always stay in worthy view. They love it! Your still properly part of the festival, and the view looks amazing over the site. The decor appears to fit in with the fest too. Those other ones off site seem so disconnected and soulless, i'd hate to leave the site  every night.

Ditto. I was trying to persuade Winding Lake to sell me the tickets without the accommodation but funnily enough they weren't up for that ;)

Ideally yeah, with the money they could have gotten from selling the few hundred returned tickets to us lot. I dont understand the prices at all, seems insane. Ive never even been on a holiday thats cost near that!

£5k is more than I spent on my 3 week honeymoon. Insane prices!

  14. 2 minutes ago, lobo said:

Are the super pricey ones with accommodation coming from farms near the site? I assume GF give them tickets to sell on to soften the blow of the chaos over the next couple of weeks? This is all guess work, no evidence of this at all!

The £5k offer was from Fly Glastonbury. I emailed a few places in desperation yesterday!

Apologies, I asked yesterday but no-one responded. I am going on holiday tomorrow and although I know I will not receive the Checkpage text, will I still receive an email? If not does anyone have any suggestions on good alternatives for my tracking on my phone whilst abroad? I will have very intermittent access to my laptop.

I still received the check page texts when I was in the Bahamas
