On the festival: nice atmosphere (the weather helped, a bit cold but at least no rain), great tasty and fresh food and decent drinks (quite expensive though, a 0.4 liter beer is € 7,25 and a burger around € 12), audience a bit older than most festivals, but since I'm in my late forties, that's perfectly fine for me. Just a great place to be, but do bring some money as days get expensive when thirsty.

Jesus, it was 4,40€ in 2017. Burgers were 10€+ already tho iirc.

  3. I don't remember seeing phones for sale either.

In times of cheap tech and consumerism I'm sure you or at least one of your friends/family has an old phone lying around that still works and you can take it as a backup if you happen to lose it?

I used to take one with me on various trips just to connect to wifi and use it to play music and save the battery of my proper one.

Yeah was wondering about the Wednesday, 9 of us going for the first time and should be set up and settled in by around 3pm. Obviously will spend large parts of both Wednesday and Thursday wandering the site and finding out bearings. Are there any parts that are or are not particular worth exploring on the Weds in particular? If a lot of places aren't open maybe some areas best left to Thursday. Like the idea of a pub crawl around the site though.

There's stuff that isn't open on Wed morning, by afternoon most stalls and bars should be open. Some stuff (Glasto on Sea is the one I remember) is still getting built on Wed. But don't worry, just wander around. We were first timers last year, spent both Wed and Thu exploring the site, going from bar to bar and stopping at stuff that caught our attention. Take it slow, you'll need the two days to get a sense of the place. If there's any live music you really wish to see on Thu make sure you're there early as most stuff gets pretty rammed, otherwise just get lost and don't plan too much. There will be more than enough opportunities to run from stage to stage later 🙂

I can't speak for Glasto, but at other festivals the signal seems great early in the morning before everyone emerges from their slumber. Is that the same for Glastonbury?

Last year I had a Lebara SIM (operating on Vodafone network) and the reception was great most of the time. The only times it was spotty was at headliner time at big stages. Having tens of thousands of people influencing at the same place is a bit much for any network it seems 🙂

I was going to ask about reception and what the best options were. Due to family matters i need to have decent contact.

A few people - myself included - got cheap SIM cards with Lebara who use the Vodafone network. Definitely worth looking into as it worked flawlessly last year for me when needed.

    +1 for Lebara. Worked great.
