  1. still had a great time but  2016 wasn't up there with my best years,

the line up wasn't as good for me as in previous years but still plenty too see and do,

the mud killed me in the end, just the little things like being able too sit on the grass outside the avalon inn ,getting around stages and areas,  it was near impossible to walk in places! ....  I'm used to the mud , my last muddy one was 2011... it just makes things harder obviously !

its also the year I've finally finished with the the south east area! way too many people ,  and getting dangerous imo!

the whole "brexit" thing ......... quite a strange atmosphere on the friday !

had more ups than downs though as usual! and  i wouldn't want to have been anywhere else!  ill be trying sunday morning as normal!

  2. having done quite a few glastonbury festivals now..... i know the pitfalls, the areas, the size off the place, travel light its a hike , don't smash it on the first night, pace yourself, wash your hands , eat ,drink plenty of water, suncream, wear a hat !  haha ,  etc etc ... course i still make the same mistakes like drinking too much on the wednesday etc.. but i know the consequences nowadays! haha

had a bad experience this year bringing a newbie in our group that came , a friend off a friend shall we say and ending up pretty much falling out with him due to his total knobbish

behaviour !  i actually lost him one night on purpose and he was gone for 4 hrs ! haha.. and believe it or not after being violently sick all ov monday on the way home actually ended up in A+E monday night with severe stomach bug and dehydration ! (karma i thought) hahaha,  shouting stupid shit when an act was on.... littering, pissing ! despite being told an told !! one woman

absolutely ripped strips off him one night near the pyrimid stage on the thursday night i think after pissing up a fence !  apologies to you ! so embarrassing ! i shouted and kicked off but was you gonna do when he just stumbles off and does it !

needless to say....... he won't be invited with me anymore, and after his trip to A+E i don't think he would want go anymore , he just really didn't get the place in the way i do, it was just one big pissup an fuk everyone else.... coulda caused an issue with my friend ( who does get the place ) as it was his friend etc an became pretty awkward as I'm like...errrr your mates a bad nobhead!!

anyway....... just wondering if anyone else has had similar issues bringing new people.... friends off friends etc..... i think its really difficult surrounding yourself with the right people at glastonbury due to how big the place is and the pure challenge the place can be..... and without the right attitude its going too cause problems ! be interested if anyone else has had the same issues as it very nearly brought my whole festival on a downer even though i tried to brush it off !

  4. yeah i agree they have too make a profit etc....and also yes the mud made more people search for seating etc..  in general though the security are definitely getting more heavy handed .... witnessed lots off idiots around the south east corner....very heavy handed with people that are clearly intoxicated... lost... in very congested areas... etc etc,

  5. it was about 9pm on saturday before we were heading out for new order on the other stage ....  there were `2 security guys in there.... one was from manchester same as me , he was alright wen he spoke to us but made it clear we had to take our beers out.... other guy was a massive fat fella... proper horrible with 666 tatted on his head ! hahaha... he kept hassling a young lad who was sleeping while sat on one ov the benches ! .threw him out eventually , . we couldn't understand why they didn't just leave him be... it wasn't busy and there was plenty of seats..just a nobhead basically.. . no its the one kinda in-between the walk from pyramid to the other i think... defo not near beat hotel etc

  6. i thought the fallow year was 2018, i seen the article that said longleat were not impressed ( why would they !? the place looked like a battlefield every morning !)  but i didn't see any mention off putting it bk to 2019?  i did read something recently though where micheal evis said at his stage off life he wanted to just continue and enjoy every year before the inevitable at his age! ,

out off interest ..... does anyone know exactly what part off the festival land does he actually own ?

  7. they stopped us taking our own beers in chameleon , we were actually going to the bar and were finishing cans off but didn't take it off us etc... just told us to go outside until we finished it .fair enough... , if they had tried to take to take it off us they woulda been wearing it first ! ... I've done a few glastos now, have to agree security are becoming more heavy handed ! maybe its cos the nobheads are increasing at the festival?  i did chat too many stewards and security though during my week that were spot on and very friendly but lots seemed to be hating the fact they were there ! shouldn't really be taking there career choices out on us festival goers !

Depends what you mean by the same vibe, different areas of the festival all have different vibes but I have had some really enjoyable nights there where the crowds have been amongst the best I have ever experienced.

well.... tbh , generally moody ! .... I'm comfortable with that kinda atmosphere and am not put off personally, but i know others are! .... think its a bit ov a shitty area in general though and theres more could be done with it imo !

Yes definitely get rid of all the things I don't personally like because everything revolves around me ;)

haha..... i like that , but honestly its not because i personally don't like that area.......if others love that particular area at glastonbury then fair play...... I've spent many hours round the dance village... i just don't think ts got the same vibe as the rest ov the festival? do you?

  10. as for future headliners......wow theres loads !! , i dont think the festival would ever run out off ideas for headliners ?

bands constantly evolving , becoming bigger as the years go by... but i don't actually feel a band or act needs to be huge to

headline....... i could think off plenty myself to cover many years too come

  11. any festival not on that site just wouldn't be the same imo , the idea off a mirror festival just would not appeal to me , it would be just another festival....in another area ,happening on the same weekend,. the appeal to me is that place, the

history of the festival, the view of the tor, the familiar areas, muddy lane, the pyramid ,the glasto sign up the hill, the stone circle, williams green, the food stalls in the same spot every  year, familiar  faces, the camping fields , bars like the avalon inn, etc..

i do agree that some areas are massively over crowded.... south east corner in particular ..dangerous at times!!...maybe if they added another late night area with a similar theme ,similar stages, etc on the opposite side off the festival?? that could ease the amount off people in the one area ?  i think it would be just as popular and could make both areas much more enjoyable for everyone ?

Likewise Eat everything and Ellis Dee, absolutely banging. Felt like a okd skool rave from the 90's.

i watched that too.... brilliant set! ...  definitely a festival highlight for me !

  13. After wondering down from the Park on friday to watch bastille, i  accidentally caught Shades of Rhythm at Arcadia as i was passing by and changed my mind about going too see bastille

it was beautiful sunshine on a friday evening, lots off people dancing all there worrys away without a care in the world.. i stayed for the full set ,

played all the  amazing old dance tunes ,took me back 20 years to much better times and places......  something that will stay me for a long time !  an amazing glastonbury moment for me that was totally unplanned  ( and i still got down to the other stage for bastille) haha ,

    Glastonbury ..... thank you !

Thieving did seem to be a lot more rife this year. We camped in Kidney mead and seemed to miss it luckily, but heard loads of stories about tent theft.

yes, we stayed in big ground and i never heard off any issues there but if guys like i met are on site , then there not stupid..... they will know the best targets are probably pennards or oxlyers !,

  15. i had an experience on saturday at the other stage , met a guy who was on his own , got chatting , he was a scouser an he recognised my accent.. manchester  ,so he started telling me he had jibbed in, wearing a fake wristband or more like a similar wristband , similar age to me ...early 40s , wasn't drinking , or particularly bothered about the music etc...

not really following the Knobs thread here..... but it dawned on me later that he was what id call an old school jibber/grafter!  and the reason for his visit was to steal from tents etc... was typical off lads i know in manchester that will follow things like glasto if theres big money too be made !  i had always wondered why people who had desperately gone through the ticket day process to get here would then start risking that by stealing from others tents etc.... but after meeting him i now know theres people like him on site ! professional

criminals basically!!  and thefts are not random.....theres obvs more off his type doing the same !! i always use the lockups but its

definitely made me more aware in future !!  he said he had jibbed in at the gate when it was busy but i think he came in with bent security or staff etc.... had no tent , nothing except his thieving fingers!!

  16. a chance to get into Glastonbury at this late stage !  thats an easy decision! , i had some keener than others on the gates last year but its gotta be worth a go especially if you look similar!, our groups photos are 6 years old and not really a good likeness ,had a few second glances at the gates but i think you'll be fine ! good luck!

  17. I'm arriving at the disabled car park too... we were planning on arriving at 03.00am! now you mention it i don't know if it will be open myself! , how long has it took you too queue in the past when u arrived at 08am? also theres 4 in our group....will the other 2 ( not the disabled person and pa) have to go to gate A and queue separately? thanks
